The "Reverend" Fred Phelps's Westboro Baptist Church announced plans to protest at the funeral of Heath Ledger.
Why?
The "God Hates Fags" hatemongers will picket the decease Aussie actor's funeral because he is a pervert who promoted homosexuality by appearing as a gay man in Brokeback Mountain.
We wish we could laugh at this stupidity, but it just makes us angry!
Heath may not have been perfect, but he doesn't deserve this.

I wish I could say I was surprised but growing up with that terrible group in my home town has lead to me believe that there is absolutley nothing they won't do. They are horrible. They pry on people during their weakest moments.
they should just all be shot. no good come from them anyway.

I cannot believe that these people have the audacity to protest at someone's funeral, it makes me incredibly angry to think that nothing in this world is sacred, even putting to rest the dead. I personally believe these people are hypocrites because if they preach the word of god then surely they should know that god loves everyone of us, for who we are. If they are preaching hatred then they should be penalized not the dead. It’s alien to me that these people cannot differentiate between the fictional and the real. Homosexuals have as much right as any heterosexual and shouldn’t be punished for who they love. It’s people like these that are stuck in the past when we should all be looking to the future, and preaching violence or oppression is not what god wants. At the end of the day god loves us all.
Those people are really outrageous and need to be stopped! I can't believe that they would have the audacity to disturb someone's funeral. It's bad enough that people would have to lose a loved one and then they are trying to say their last goodbyes to them and they have these bigoted idiots causing a ruckus! That's totally inconsiderate and disrespectful of them to behave like that at such a time. They can have their opinions but there is no excuse for acting out like that. It's totally unbelievable that some people would have such nerve. I hope some people manage to shove them off so they are unable to cause any disturbance.

Speaking as a native Kansan and native Topekan, I apologize to Heath's friends, family, and fans. This church has menaced our state and city for years now. But here's the key to understanding them and ignoring them: with the exception of the "reverend" and a few other mentally unstable members of that church, most of the followers do not truly believe in what they preach. I've had college classes w/many of the followers of that church and they speak out of both sides of their mouths (so to speak). The granddaughters of Phelps brag about their sexual conquests, drinking and drugging it up in Kansas City nightclubs; likewise, if you check out Shirley Phelps-Roper's myspace acct, she has pictures of herself in lesbian poses and leather dominitrix get-up. They love the attention and they love the money they receive from the KKK, skinheads, etc that promote their church in their own publications. All in all, they are to be ignored at least and pitied at best. I hope that helps you understand better what these people truly are.
The "Reverend" and his sect are appalling and act in ways that are expressly against Christianity. God does not hate anyone. The "Reverend" and his sick group that preaches hate and intolerance are sinning more than the object of their hatred ever did! In this sense, the message that they "preach" is itself an abomination to God and a false witness to mankind. May God forgive them for what they do….cause they are gonna need it!! We are all God's children. We may disagree with others lifestyles (or job choices in this instance) but, we should respect one another and each persons right to choose what they feel is best for them. It's for God to judge, not us. There will come a time when Mr. Fred Phelps will have to face his maker and account for his actions. Even if he decides not to protest at the funeral, his words have already caused pain and heartache for the family. That is something he will have to face in the hereafter.

I hope that his funeral is held in Perth and that the Australian laws are similar to Canadian ones. Freedom of speech does not equal hate-filled protests here. You can go to jail for that shit and I hope you can in Australia as well.

This "church" is an hour from where I live. These people disgust me. I heard they picketed at the Hannah Montana concert in Kansas City because Disney has Gay Days at their parks.

I am -extremely- upset that folks from the Westboro Baptish Church will be protesting at Mr. Ledger's funeral if it's held in the USA. If I were Ledger's close kin I would ship the body at the first available opportunity back to Australia, where Ledger can get a decent funeral service in peace.

I read this site everyday and i normally don't comment, but this is just so sad. let the poor man rest in peace. what good is protesting his funeral going to do? if you feel it necesary to protest a movie, whatever, but a funeral? if nothing else think of his daughter, this unfortunately will be one of her first memories and she has to see people that hate her father for a role he portrayed.

Just because he did a part for a job does not make this his personal views. I am glad to see so many people as outraged by this possibility as I am. I was raised Baptist, and although I don't go to church now, I try to live my life in the best way I know how. But does that make me "better" than other people, enough so that I can judge them and decide that God hates them? NOT AT ALL!
