The Latest On The Heath Ledger Tragedy

Heath Ledger's body will be undergoing an autopsy today.
The actor, it has been revealed, was suffering from pneumonia at the time of his death.
He had also recently been filming in London shortly before his passing on Tuesday.
Friends of the Australian actor are saying that they saw his death coming.
"Heath has gone though a rough road of trying to get sober," reveals a pal.
Ledger's substance abuse issues could be one of the reasons for his split from Michelle Williams, mother to their two year old Matilda.
Williams is said to be devastated over the news of Ledger's passing.
Ledger was most recently linked romantically to Australian model/actress Gemma Ward.
And, although The New York Times has reported that Heath's death is likely an overdose, his family is insisting that it was an accident.
So sad. So incredibly sad.

An overdose can be accidental. You're assuming that the NYT's term "overdose" means intentional suicide but those are two very different things. If they thought it was intentional they would have said suicide, not overdose, which is why his family is insisting it was an accidental death (accidental overdose). Stop implying that it was a suicide until you know what's up.

I'm still in shock, despite reading about it since yesterday afternoon. He was on the cusp of a brilliant career and had so many things going for him (especially his daughter). I was excited about him playing the Joker but now it will be bittersweet to watch.

This is such a tragic loss to happen. He was so young, so talented, and had so much potential. We had so much more to see from him. My thoughts and prayers go out to the ones so close to him, especially is young daughter. So sad, I can’t even find the words. I hope the people and the media can give his friends and family the respect and privacy they need at this time in their lives and let them deal with the shock of his sudden death of their loved one. I hope that people can stop the speculations and just wait for the autopsy results in the future. But even then it’s none of our business to begin with! Let’s just remember him as a Son, Brother, Father, Cousin, Friend. And a spectacular actor!

Holy crap, the front page of the newspaper (in South Australia) is Heath being wheeled out in a body bag. Why do they have to even print that? Why don't they show some respect and just use a picture from a recent press junket or photoshoot. The media these days disgusts me. Although I am not a fan of Heath's and have only seen three of his films, I feel strongly about the media exploiting him like this. He was one of an elite group of Australian actors who have become major talents in Hollywood in recent times. I hope his family are given privacy to grieve.

Heath had so much talent and the sexiest accent i have ever heard. he was my hollywoord crush. I am a Struggling actress and i am thinking of moving to Los angeles to get a better shot at it. He was one of the actors that i wanted to work with if i made it. it is so sad i almost wanted to cry yesturday when i heard that.

I'm truly saddened by the news of Heath Ledger's death. He was one of a kind in the sense that he was blazing his own path in the world of entertainment. I first saw him in the movie "2 Hands" in a little town theatre on the northeast coast of Australia. I had just left his hometown of Perth after 7mths of living there and I thought this guy really has that special something. Over time he made that same impression on North America & the world by hand picking roles that most actors would run away from! For that…Heath, you will be missed dearly. You left us all too soon. Heath loved his life. He knew how fortunate he was to rise so quickly in the business. He was very humble about his success. He would want his fans to respect his family's wishes and move on. He never thought of himself as a "Star." He only wanted to be a fine actor, a loving husband, and most importantly, a nurturing father. He will be missed, but he has left behind such a magnificent legacy of dedicated talent and love. His, was a life cut short, but we must not focus on the tragedy of his untimely death, rather we must focus on his forever lasting talent, caught so beautifully in the films he made. What greater tribute to his life's work than to let his private life, his hopes, his dreams remain secured in the knowledge that he was a "Star" from the get-go. R.I.P.

What a tragedy…losing Heath Ledger is a great great loss and so incredibly sad.
I tend to think that if Heath Ledger had pneumonia that if he was in a deep sleep from sleeping aids that he stopped breathing. When a person has pneumonia waking up from not breathing is completely normal but if Heath had sleeping pills and anxiety meds in his system it wouldn't have been possible for him to wake up. It was a complete accident. God bless his soul and, God bless his precious daughter and her mom.

There's no reason to think his death is in any way related to the announcement of the Oscar nominations in which his long-time friend and fellow Aussie, Cate Blanchette, was nominated and he wasn't. These coincidences just happen in the biz. For instance, Perez keeps pointing the finger at drug use…eventually someone dies in his/her sleep and everyone thinks Perez is a prophet…people die…drugs or no drugs…I bet they'll find nothing strange in his autopsy.
