The Latest On The Heath Ledger Tragedy

Heath Ledger's body will be undergoing an autopsy today.
The actor, it has been revealed, was suffering from pneumonia at the time of his death.
He had also recently been filming in London shortly before his passing on Tuesday.
Friends of the Australian actor are saying that they saw his death coming.
"Heath has gone though a rough road of trying to get sober," reveals a pal.
Ledger's substance abuse issues could be one of the reasons for his split from Michelle Williams, mother to their two year old Matilda.
Williams is said to be devastated over the news of Ledger's passing.
Ledger was most recently linked romantically to Australian model/actress Gemma Ward.
And, although The New York Times has reported that Heath's death is likely an overdose, his family is insisting that it was an accident.
So sad. So incredibly sad.

Re: Just Wondering – You're absolutely right! Apparently "pneumonia" is a euphemysm for "drug problem." Anna Nicole wasn't as talented an actress as Heath, but she too had a daughter. Also, she was a friend of Mary-Kate and stayed at that apartment when in New York. Kelly Rippa couldn't get home because of all the congestion around the building. She had to tell her kids a "white-lie" and say that Uncle Heath was making a movie and that was why there were so many people standing around. She and her kids were stuck in traffic when the Heath's body was rolled out on a guerney just like Anna Nicole's. At least, the NYPD will do a better job of investigating this tragedy than the Seminole police did.
I think he was a great actor and it's a shame he was taken from us too soon. This really hit me hard yesterday probably because we share the same birthday 4/4. That and it made me think about how precious life is…we're here one day, gone the next. Tomorrow isn't guaranteed to anyone. My heart goes out to his family and that precious little girl of his.

As I posted before, the news came out over 2-3 hours ago, that the first autopsy was inconclusive, that more time will be needed to do tests.
Also, Perez, you are using US magazine as a source?'Friends' say they saw it coming according to US. NO NAMES of course are given and US reported that it was MK Olsen's apartment, which I think has been proven wrong.
They live so fast and die so young.

I found this a total shock this morning and very sad about it.

I still believe it was suicide. He had a lot of things happen to him lately which made him depressed. His family says it was accidental because he wasn't that kind of person. No one is that kind of person, until they become severely depressed, and they often hide it. No one thought I was "that kind" of person until I attempted. His autopsy was inconclusive, so the only thing left now is the toxicology results. Everything is pointing to suicide.
With that said, I loved Heath. He was a great actor. I would joke around with my fiance saying he was my future husband, lol. It hit me really hard when I found out. My thoughts will be with his daughter, hopefully she grows up knowing her father was a great man.
Apparently, Cate Blanchette has agreed to narrate a tribute to Heath at the upcoming Academy Awards. Because of the writer's strike, she has to speak extemporaneously and she's terrified of making a mistake, but she will do her best and I'm sure it will be nominated for an award (LOL!).
As for Perez "abusing" meth…is there any other way to use it? I mean…is there a way to simply "use" it without "abusing" it? Perez is way too smart to mess around with illegal substances. If he's really losing weight…it's because he's so rich he can afford a personal trainer, chef, etc. 24/7 thanks to our interests in the personal tragedies of celebrities like Heath, may he rest in peace. I don't think you need to worry about Perez O.D.-ing on crystal meth. He's not an idiot and he knows how good his life is. This is just the beginning.

I really don't get how someone can accidentally overdose on medication. You would know if you are taking too much. Pills do not just magically appear in your mouth and slide down your throat. There are directions on medication, and someone would have to ingest a fairly decent amount for it to kill them. Anxiety medication and sleeping pills are usually not very potent unless taken in very large quantities or taken with an illegal substance.

While the circumstances of their deaths are different, does anyone else find it eery that both Brandon Lee and Heath Ledger died at the age of 28 and, while speculatively in the case of Heath, as the result of the face painted, dark movie characters roles they were playing that look very, very similar?
Brandon was killed on the set of the Crow and Heath reportedly had fallen in to a depression and psychosis brought on by internalizing his Joker character which led to his need for the pills that led to his accidental death (again speculation).
Look at pics of Brandon as the Crow and Heath as the Joker…Spooky how close they resemble one another. Even their facial structure and hair.
A real trajedy to lose these young men. Obviously, in the case of Heath, one was a very respected and accomplished actor while Brandon was just trying to make a name for himself.
I HATE the medias need to sensationalize EVERYTHING. Basically I am sure the autopsy will show that he died from respiratory failure as he had severe pneumonia. As told through various recent interviews he has been having alot of problems sleeping since his separation from Michelle Williams and in doing his role for the Joker and he had begun taking sleep aides (Ambien and OTC). Between the sleep aides and the pneumonia his respiratory system would have been severely compromised, not getting enough oxygen. He basically just died in his sleep. ACCIDENTAL. Very, very sad. A waste of a young, intellegent, talented life. How sad for his daughter Matilda.

maybe your "insider sources" say heath was a drug addict perez, but so far we've seen zero real evidence that this is true. maybe you should show some tact for once and cool it on the speculation and rumor. let the police reveal the truth once they have it.
Pneumonia did not cause his death. It has been ruled out as the cause of his death.
2nd, he was prescribed Ambien. Ambien is very hard to OD on. It does, however, work more effectively than OTC sleep meds. One would wonder why Heath chose to take OTC meds when he is prescribed Ambien (and as most celebrities, probably over-prescribed). It is a possibility that he took OTC meds because they contain acetaminophen (tylenol) which is toxic in large doses and will kill you. This is all speculation, though. The true story will come out with the toxicology report.
It is sad about his death. He was a talented young actor. With the media making publicizing trash Britney. It was nice to know the man cared about his work and his daughter and family. Best wishes and pray for his family.

The model's actress according to CNN.com was Naomi Watts. Not Gemma Ward. I really think you should check the facts Perez before you post stuff. As for the family, my condolences go with you. It's always hard to deal with such a tragedy but hope will prevail. Heath is in a place where pain and sorrow will be felt no more. He's in a better place resting on angel's wings. Let's just pray for his family that they'll have the strength to carry on.

The Australian newspaper is reporting that Heath's father, Kim, will be attending an event in Los Angeles at the end of the week with Aussie model Gemma Ward, the woman last romantically linked to Heath. It's believed the event will be a memorial service for the star. Gemma's mother, Claire, told the newspaper that her daughter is currently in New York.
Meanwhile, the 20-year-old's sister, Sophie (who's also a model), told the West Australian newspaper that Heath had sworn off alcohol at Christmastime amid a bout of anxiety over being unable to see his daughter Matilda, 2.
Sophie says that Heath was distressed over his split with Michelle Williams and being away from Matilda. He was "quite upset because he couldn't see his daughter as much as he'd like to," she said. "He was traveling so much and I think he was just frustrated with it all."
Truely sad! My mouth dropped wide open when I heard. Yes very talented. My heart goes out to his family and friends. Its even more heartbreaking to think of that little girl missing out on her father and him missing out on her. He will watch over her in heaven and be her angel. My thoughts go out to Micehlle as well. She must be just devestated after all the seperation is still fresh. RIP Heath.

Well … another famous celebrity found dead, alone and naked.
Celebrity does not give people immunity from what life is really about. It makes me sick that all these young 'stars' are treated like glass candy when alive - given everything they have ever wanted well before they are able to fully appreciate the wonder of their existence. These kids don't stand a chance against the fully effective machine that Hollywood really is. It is a soul-grinder if you are not mature enough to know your own strength. Hence many celebs turn to pills to fill what they should already have inside … knowledge of oneself, a first-class sense of well-being, and (most importantly) the will to survive at any cost.
A fundamental rule in parenting is never to give children everything they ask for … they could get hurt. Just because Heath was able to dress himself and say 'Yes, Daddy, I'm a grownup now' doesn't mean that he really was. This is a lesson for everyone … too much too fast too young to last.
