Fox News Talk Network host John Gibson announced the sad and tragic death of actor Heath Ledger on Tuesday by mocking him and making light of his untimely passing.
Disgusting!
We've been on this creep's show before and we will boycott his show in the future, unless he issues an apology.
Here's a rundown of what happened:
"Playing an audio clip of the iconic quote, 'I wish I knew how to quit you' from Ledger’s gay romance movie Brokeback Mountain, Gibson disdainfully quipped, 'Well, he found out how to quit you.' Laughing, Gibson then played another clip from Brokeback Mountain in which Ledger said, 'We’re dead,' followed by his own, mocking 'We’re dead' before playing the clip again."
Gibson called Ledger a "weirdo" with a "serious drug problem" and suggested that Ledger killed himself because he had "a serious position in the (stock) market" or perhaps "watched the Clinton-Obama debate last night. I think he was an Edwards guy, cause he saw his Edwards guy was just completely irrelevant."

As an American citizen and HUMAN BEING I am appalled by the rant the Mr. Gibson proceeded to go on Tuesday night about the death of Heath Ledger. His work as an actor should in no way be a reflection of his life. He was someone's son, father, brother, and friend, and did not deserve to be disgraced in such a way. Mr. Gibson should be ashamed of himself for even attempting such an irreprehensible joke at such an inopportune time. I truly believe that it is men like him that are the reason Americans have become so desensitized. Death is not a joke, and no matter what the results of the autopsy turn out to be Heath Ledger doesn't deserved to be criticized and ridiculed. We can never understand or will never know what was going through the mind of that young man in the days or hours before his death. But you know what I do know…That a little girl will have to grow up without her daddy, and that a mother and father will have to live without their son. Think about that Mr. Gibson next time you decide make "jokes" on your program. You’re a disgrace to journalists everywhere. The news used to be about getting the truth to the people and having a voice in the world. You don't belong anywhere but the National Enquirer you sleaze.

I have sent them an email I think that is horrible. I can't believe that. No one knows for sure how or why he died. But it doesn't matter any how making light of it. Is horrible. What a sick human being. No matter what he passed from it doesn't make it any less sad to his loved ones that he is gone. My best friend passed away at 25 from an overdose leaving behind a small child. I'm not saying this was the cause of his death but if it turns out to be the case it's still is a horrible situation.

Please do the right thing. What he said/did is completely unacceptable. I know that your organization does not want to be categorized as Hate Mongers (even if you are), but I can see no other way in which to view Gibson's ignorant and insensitive remarks. What he said is beyond immoral and no ones death deserves to be joked about, especially not in such a malicious manner. Furthermore, this is not the first time he's been allowed to get away with such poor taste and lack of judgment. I will not call for his resignation, but I would say to FOX that you have a responsibility to all your viewers (not just the ones filled with ignorance and hate that may not have been offended by his comments) to be at the very least professional. So a professional apology from FOX is in order. It was highly distasteful and a public apology should be made to all viewers, as well as all friends and family of Heath Ledger. We do not want to hear Gibson's remarks on the matter. He has said enough.

Lets work together to construct well-worded (none of this hateful type language) emails and bombard them with our voices. They will have to respond. A similar grassroots effort got Chris Matthews to issue an on-air apology about his sexist comments regarding Clinton and other women. Faux News is a harder nut to crack, but I think we should try.
