Heath Ledger's family will arrive in New York City on Friday from Australia.
Out of respect for their privacy, we won't name the funeral home the service will take place in. It'd be nice if the media left his family alone on that day, but we don't think that will happen.
Ledger's ex, Michelle Williams, and daughter, Matilda, arrived at their Brooklyn home on Wednesday. They were greeted by hordes of paparazzi. So wrong.
We didn't use those pics. Nor did we use the pics of Ledger's body being taken out of his apartment.
And we won't use pics from outside the funeral parlor.
Hopefully others will follow suit.

I appreciate that you're taking a stand and think your intentions are well placed. But I have to admit, the hypocrisy in your statements is quite obvious. Britney's children will one day grow up to view the pictures you splashed all over the place of her doing God knows what with God knows who. She brought that on herself. But the pictures of the children, on which you either draw inane comments or make references to physical and/or mental disabilities based purely on looks, those are just as disgusting as that picture of the dead body being carried out. Those kids didn't ask for that and you have absolutely no right to ruin any self esteem they may actually salvage after the horror show they will end up calling a childhood.

I live in Brooklyn, right down the street from Michelle Williams place. Since the day Heaths death was announced the block has been swarmed with 20 or more paps, there are police baricades in place just to keep them in line. Its truely disgusting. I thought that once she returned home they would leave but they are still lingering on the corrner, huddling in packs to stay warm. They have accomplished nothing except for forcing the family to be trapped in their own house. The people of this neighborhood dont not condone or appriciate their presence, the couple have always been kind to their neighbors, as well as granted a sense of normalcy here. We feel for michelle and their daughter Matilda, we have to remember that with such a young child this sad occurance will have to be reiterrated over and over, she is too young to grasp the concept of what happened to her father and it will be very hard for michelle to have to explain this time and time again while still grieving. Now to think she cant even go get a cup of coffee on her own block, when she needs a little time to Breathe…its heartbreaking. So all i can say to this is, that the people around here feel for Michelle, and Matilda and wish them nothing but strength and as far as the paps go, they live to gain off others misfortune and they should pray that god has mercy on their souls.

Perez, I have much respect for you that you are not using those pictures and are giving his family privacy. I think it is disgusting that paparazzi are all over Michelle, as well as his other friends and family. Yes they have a job to do, but sometimes you just need to let it go……they are human beings just like us. How would they feel if someone in there family died, and all they saw were cameras flashing in their faces to get pics of grieving and remose. Why would people pay to see that????? All of it is so sad, and we should all have respect for what they are going through right now.
Finally some sense of how people feel and I think its about time. There is nothing wrong with people that are interested in the lastest gossip but someone death should not be gossip. There is nothing else to be heard or seen so let the family deal with the sad news. I hope more sites follow your lead and props to you and your senseabilty.
I am so relieved that the site I visit most will be respectful of such a tragic incident. Especially when he led such a private life and didn't ask for any of this.

There needs to be about 20 reporters otherwise only 1 station or newspaper would get the photos, and no one else would have the rights to publish anything.

I really applaud you not showing pictures of the family when they are in mourning, or showing pictures of his body. There is so much talk about how crazy the paparazzi are with celebrities, but it is perpetuated by members of the media who buy those pictures. Way to go perez. You know, I agree with part of what you said. However, I am not sure that I agree with all of it. I am really Ok with seeing his body in body bag. Seeing the photograph provided me with some closure. I didn't know the guy, but he was in the public eye, and there is a certain level of closeness I felt towards him. Seeing his body in the photograph on other sites helped me grieve a bit. In the same way I grieve when I go to funerals of friends and family, it is helpful to see the casket. To feel the death. Just my opinion.
