Heath Ledger's family will arrive in New York City on Friday from Australia.
Out of respect for their privacy, we won't name the funeral home the service will take place in. It'd be nice if the media left his family alone on that day, but we don't think that will happen.
Ledger's ex, Michelle Williams, and daughter, Matilda, arrived at their Brooklyn home on Wednesday. They were greeted by hordes of paparazzi. So wrong.
We didn't use those pics. Nor did we use the pics of Ledger's body being taken out of his apartment.
And we won't use pics from outside the funeral parlor.
Hopefully others will follow suit.

it's too bad the media oversteps boundaries. people.com already posted where the funeral is, and the NY Times showed inappropriate pictures. let the family mourn privately. we are all sad that Heath passed away, but his death and funeral should now be regarded privately with his family and friends, not the world. just leave them alone.

You will insult the living, mock any remnant of decency in American culture, make cruel and hateful remarks to fragile human beings, toward those who are easy targets and many times defenseless against false rumours. Perez, perhaps you are hardened to criticism, but most people tend to be more human and therefore frail. You should take more responsibility for the things you say.

I think it's great that you're being so sensitive at this difficult time in their lives. That's the last thing Heath's family and friends need is to be hounded by photographers, etc. Hopefully, others will follow your example!
THANK YOU!!! I've turned off any show that shows the clip of Heath being removed from his apartment and Michelle Williams with their daughter. The scenes outside of Heath's apartment made me sick to my stomach, and for god's sake, poor Michelle Williams needs to be left alone to try to help her daughter through this somehow. I love celeb gossip, whether it's from you or US weekly or whatever, but Heath Ledger's death just makes it so obvious that things are out of control.

Thank you for not doing or showing those disgusting things. I think that we should boycott any of the mags that print the pictures. If you get a subscription to any of the gossip mags and it shows up with pics of the funeral or Michelle and Matilda going into their apt. just return to sender. I enjoy seeing pictures of celebs in pretty clothes and hear about what they've been up to but not at the expense of their safety and ability to function in everyday life. I've about had it with complete invasion of their privacy and disregard for their safety and the lives of their children. Britney makes a phone call to have them there to take her picture so she deserves what she gets. As for stalking some of the others I think it's gone too far. Heath's family deserves respect but so do many others.

I have never felt the need to post a message here before, but I feel liking piping in! I love reading your daily information and have been a subscriber to "rag" sheets in the past, but when I saw the paps taking pictures of Mr. Ledger's body being removed from his apartment, it put me over the edge. I cannot believe that anyone out there really wants to see that. While I was not a fan of his, I think its sad and shocking that he died like this, but I don't really want to see these pictures. I agree that we should all leave the families of any deceased star alone and refrain from taking pictures. There has to be a line in the sand somewhere. I no longer subscribe to these rag sheets and pretty much exclusively rely on Perez and People for my info. Please leave the dead alone Paps!
P.S. Can we stop talking about Britney for a while. Perhaps, she will get help if people stop photographing and talking about how screwed up she is!

i really have to commend you on letting the family and friends of Heath Ledger mourn in peace. And i really hope you never take the "fuck you perez" bullshit to heart. Because when it comes down to a serious issue such as the mourning process you really do think about the people and their feelings. I really respect that. I was disgusted when i was watching t.v. and i kept seeing videos of the masses of people around when his body was wheeled out of his apartment…it's so disrespectful. And i'm so glad someone in this world didn't look at this tragedy as a way of making money or just another story…because it's not, it was a person.

Kudos to you Perez. Much of the media coverage of this has turned me off from my usual love of celeb gossip. Sex scandals, weight gain and loss, ridiculous antics - those are good gossip. Pithy speculation on the tragic death of a talented young man is not.
