Let Them Mourn In Peace

Heath Ledger's family will arrive in New York City on Friday from Australia.
Out of respect for their privacy, we won't name the funeral home the service will take place in. It'd be nice if the media left his family alone on that day, but we don't think that will happen.
Ledger's ex, Michelle Williams, and daughter, Matilda, arrived at their Brooklyn home on Wednesday. They were greeted by hordes of paparazzi. So wrong.
We didn't use those pics. Nor did we use the pics of Ledger's body being taken out of his apartment.
And we won't use pics from outside the funeral parlor.
Hopefully others will follow suit.

wow Perez, im impressed..you finally learned where to draw the line. I agree, show the family respect. Feel free to report on toxicology reports, etc..but we dont need to view the grief and sorrow on the loved ones faces and further add to their pain.

I really respect that Perez. i live just around the corner from his apartment in SoHo amd the media circus is truly disgusting. I can somewhat understand the public's fascination with this terrible event, but we all need to remember that a man died- a father died. As a culture, we need to not obsess over celebrities and really respect what his true friends and family are experiencing with this great loss.

Having lost someone close, I cannot imagine having to go through the grieving process with strangers constantly in your face, taking your picture and offering empty words of condolences!???!! Grieving is something that we all do differntly, but deserves privacy. The media shoud give it a few months and then get the story.

Thank you Perez for being so respectful. I am all about the entertainment industry and I love going on entertainment websites (especially yours!) but this whole Heath Ledger situation has really upset me. When I see pictures of his body in a bag being rolled away and other such ridiculous pictures, it breaks my heart. It's one thing to see a celebrity out shopping on Rodeo Drive (where they know they'll be spotted too) and take a picture, but it's another to invade the space of a group of people who are in extreme mourning right now and also to disrespect the late Heath Ledger by taking pictures of him being rolled away. Media is great. Pictures are great. But enough is ENOUGH!

Not printing any of those pictures was a decision few will make. You've shown your true colors, and we like what we see.
