Heath Ledger's family will arrive in New York City on Friday from Australia.
Out of respect for their privacy, we won't name the funeral home the service will take place in. It'd be nice if the media left his family alone on that day, but we don't think that will happen.
Ledger's ex, Michelle Williams, and daughter, Matilda, arrived at their Brooklyn home on Wednesday. They were greeted by hordes of paparazzi. So wrong.
We didn't use those pics. Nor did we use the pics of Ledger's body being taken out of his apartment.
And we won't use pics from outside the funeral parlor.
Hopefully others will follow suit.

That's awesome, Perez. Hopefully the other media outlets will follow suit and leave the family alone. It's a sad time for the Ledger family and all of Heath's fans.
Yes. This is a wonderful idea.. lets leave them alone. I watched the video with the papps outside the Brooklyn home later regretting it. It made me feel dirty.
Perez, I don't know if you read these comments our not but I would just like to tell you that I really respect you. Although people say the same things that you do you actually put those things in writing. But when it really does come to serious things such as death, addcition, and child endangerment it is clear that all the things your say are for entertainment purposes and that people are wrong when they say you are heartless.

Bravo, Perez! You may have some redeeming qualities after all. It's a shame to see what other media outlets are putting out there. Do we all really need to know about his last conversation, his last video, his last picture, what was found in his room? NO! And the world certainly did not need to know what position his body was in and how he was or was not dressed. All we needed to know was Heath passed away from an accidental overdose.

I applaud you, however, the pics will be everywhere anyway…I'd so much rather give his family and friends, Michelle and Matilda some privacy to mourn than see pictures of his funeral. There should be laws in place to protect those who are grieving…
You won't print the name and address of the funeral home…………..but PEOPLE.COM printed it with day/time/address. The Director of the funeral home says a service is taking place their Friday and that Heath's family is flying in Thursday……but that the family doesn't want them to release any information !!!! HELLO !!!!!!!!!! What the hell did you just do Mr. Director ?!?!?

Perez, I'm really glad that you are respecting Heath Ledger's family's wishes. It is respectful and admirable for a gossip website to make a decision to not to print paparazzi pictures of Williams and her daughter arriving to their home, and not printing the funeral location. I hope to see other entertainment media outlets follow in your footsteps, unfortunately I highly doubt that. Entertainment Tonight milked the death of Anna Nicole Smith, and judging from current episodes they will do the same for this talented actor. Celebrities are people too and even though they are in the spotlight, some things should remain private. Ledger was a talented and respected actor and we should be greatful to have watched his films and that is all. We do not know him personally, so we should not invade the privacy of friends and family. Being respectful is the best thing fans can do.

Screw all of you who are calling Perez a hypocrite. Britney is an attention whore, in case you haven't realized that just yet.
