Gibson Finally Apologizes

John Gibson finally showed remorse for his inappropriate mockery of Heath Ledger's death.
On his Fox News Channel show on Thursday, he said he was sorry if his comments offended anyone and also said he was sorry that Heath Ledger died and wasn't with us anymore.
His mea culpa seemed kinda forced, but that's the best you can expect from him.

First of all… "druggies" not taking responsibility for their actions aside (RON)… this man made a mockery of a very sad event in the lives of many many people. THAT is what he should be apologizing for. I'm all for freedom of speech, but I also believe in a little thing called tact. What John Gibson said was very mean-spirited and probably hurt a lot of people. (Think of Heath's mother, greif stricken, watching that nonsense.) It absolutely breaks my heart. So, no, this has nothing to do with druggies or freedom of speech, it has to do with compassion and decency, which this John Gibson obviously lacks. The apology is mediocre at best. I'm disappointed.

Although you present a fair point that perez had also given Heath a bit of shit in the past, it is what he does and its why most of us enjoy his site, its not like everyone else reported on on this site gets sparkling recommendations. The difference between Perez and Gimpson was Perez showed decorum after Ledger's death (a thing few media reporters have) and even stated that he will not post pictures of the funeral services and urged people to let the family grieve…whereas Gimpson took it as an oppertunity to do a little bigoted gay-bashing.
You have to laugh though, Gimpson is actually threatened by an actor who played a fictious gay man in a movie…As offensive as he was you gotta pity his ignorance and that of his regular audience.

I wrote a letter to Fox, to all those that Perez listed. What has to be understood is that the ENTIRE Fox network and it's affiliates, but doing nothing, condone this behavior. While I haven't heard anything back, an ddon't expcet to, I can only hope that those tied to the network are seriously considering some kind of repercussion for this man. (I use the term MAN loosely) I will continue to write not because of the death of Heath, but because if nothing is done about it, it sets a prescedent for him to pull a stund like that again. disparaging the name of a child's father, someone's son, brother, friend. His apology was forced, unemotional and obviously read from a teleprompter. Honestly…it meant nothing. the damage has been done an dnow it's up to Fox to do somethig about it.

I emailed every possible email that was given and got no response from any. I think Wednesday's show was just as bad as Tuesday's. Why has he not lost his job? Every one else seems to lose their jobs at the drop of a hat for remarks made. . . he disgusts me. His apology means nothing because Wednesday he showed no remorse so why did he care on Thursday?
Fox should still be taking action on this in my opinion.

Why is everyone so fixated on the word 'Druggie'? Heath may have popped a few pain killers but Elvis was eating them like freakin' smarties and no one calls the king a 'druggie' nor is the term used when mentioning Marlyon Monroe, who did actually killer herself from an overdose. And how come from over 600 comments no has mentioned the fact that Ledger had showed some signs of depression, I'm sure more than just a few of you out there have suffered from it and will know that no matter what's going on in your life, when your low you feel like the lonelest person on earth and no matter how successful you are nothing can take that away. Even if Ledger consciously took an overdose, having the pills to do it does not make him a druggie.

I watch him mock Heath's death on his show the other night and was completely disgusted and appalled so when you posted the emails to all the big wigs over at Fox news, I sent them a very long and mad email demanding that some action be taken and not just ignored so I am at least glad to see that they forced him to say what he did.
