hey perez i just have to say i really respect you for not posting up pics of heaths dead body or the name of his funeral home, pics of his family, etc… i really hope other celeb blog sites didnt do this but i wouldnt be surprised if some did. you are a great man perez and i am still so shocked about heaths death i really hope that things are alright for his fam and friends. She has a right to comment. And she is right. But what she says is a statement supporting common decency. Unfortunately, you cannot dictate common decency to others. The internet has given rise to "instant news" and infllamatory news. And there is a press out there dedicated to feeding it. When a dollar value is placed on feeding off of others- particularly in private situations like grief, there will always be someone willing to make a living being the shark.

Do you have ANY idea how infuriatingly hypocritical your statement about "agreeing about everything [Star Jones] says" in her article is? In practice, you do not agree with everything she says. It's hard to say someone's death affected you deeply when you don't even know them personally, but his death has scared me. This could happen to me, my boyfriend, or a friend. Nobody deserves to die, even if he is an addict. However, he could have been on tons of prescription drugs and still not be an addict. You can be dependent on drugs without being an addict. Accidental overdose is not uncommon. This happens everyday. I think it's morbid to focus so much on his life just because he's a star. I think his death is tragic, but over publicized. I wasn't a big fan of him, but I respected his work and the way he acted down to earth. I think his death is a huge tragedy and it truly makes me sad, but it shouldn't be the highlight of every reporters news report. He died and I'm sure his family would rather it not be talked about. Memorial services and things like that are another issue. We should show respect and love and sadness, nothing more. The statements of that FOX reporter make me sick to my stomach.

I don't think this was very well written at all. She starts to make the point that there are a lot of inconclusive facts, and says "let's start with something we do know:" then goes on to say "his death was a tragic accident, or something to the contrary. Until we know…" That doesn't make any sense. FURTHER, you can't start a sentence with "and" or "but." So much for her fancy lawyer education.
If you agree with her, then why have you been speculating since the moment it happened? It is good of you not to post the pictures though.

I couldn't agree more. But…why is it that we're so intent on following the moves of these Hollywood celebrities? Every success, every failure, every rise and every fall - through their infidelities, embarassing blunders, drug addiction and ultimately, sadly - their deaths. I too am to blame - because like every other member of the public, I choose to read blogs, papers and websites - I switch on the watch the news and avidly tune in when a tragedy is being reported in every minute detail. But this recent death has made me step back - and think. What is happening to us all? Is this really what popular Culture has now become?

I agree with Star Jones. I think it's horrible how people do things like that to celebrities. I think if someone they loved passed away, they would want it to be private and not plaster pictures of their loved ones all over the internet of them being taken to the mortuary in a body bag. It's a horrible thing that happened to a wonderful man and people should show respect to the deceased.
In light of this very tragic situation, Star's editorial is 100% right on. The paparazzi should be respectful of the grieving family. Brit Brit seems to ASK for the attention; but her situation is completely different, as most obviously, she is STILL alive and she relishes in the attention; whereas the loss of Health Ledger is truly tragic. And not just to fans, but to his daughter Matilda, Matilda's mum, and all his friends and colleagues. Sad, sad, sad. I hope they spare his family during their visit to New York. Thank you Perez for doing the ethical and humane thing by not publishing the titillating shots of the aftermath of this tremendous loss….

how many people have come out of the wood work to spout their stories of him dating this one or him doing these drugs? most of these people didn't even know him. They maybe met him once at a party and now because he is dead they were like "best friends" and it is all to get their 15 min of fame.

Star is so right. He was such an amazing man and the fact that his death has touched our nation and world so deeply just shows how great he really was. If strangers are this upset by his death, I can't even imagine what his loved ones must be going through. Leave them alone. I can speak from personal experience that grieving the death of a loved one is excruciatingly painful, and I don't even want to begin to imagine what it must be like to endure all of the speculation surrounding his death.

I agree with her. You might not like her but she does have a point being a bitch or not, that is beside the point. Michelle and the family need there time to greive and protect that little girl, that is the real issue here. Keep in mind that there is an innicent little person in the middle of this, and in the years to come I am sure eyes will be on her and how she is doing. She will never get to know her dad, all she knows is the person he was before he died, her daddy. And he seemed like he was a wonderful person and father and my heart goes out to that little girl.
