Heath's Family Says Goodbye

Heath Ledger's family is publicly sharing their grief.
The actor's parents and sisters each wrote touching tributes in the Friday edition of the West Australian newspaper.
Here's what they said.
His father, Kim, wrote:
"'Heatho,' 'Beef,' . . . my beautiful boy, so loving, so talented, so independent, so caring, so young . . . no more chess games mate . . . this is it, couldn't beat you anyway!
My body aches for the sound of your voice, our chats, our laughs and our life and times together."
Your truly varied artistic skills, insatiable desire to improve and eclectic abilities set you apart from any other person on the planet . . . it had only just started for you … and for us to further enjoy. We were one, in soul and commitment. Just . . . Father and Son. I will love you forever, Dad."
His mother, Sally, wrote:
"Our darling boy, special in so many ways to all of us. You knew you were so loved. You lived life with courage and daring and we are so grateful for the wonderful times we shared. We will be there for Matilda. Your loving Mamma, Rog and Ash."
His older sister, Katie, wrote:
"I can hardly breathe when I try to write this. We were the ultimate in soul mates. I feel both my heart and life have been torn apart. I loved our special talks, our daily chats from where ever you were in the world.
I especially loved all the precious time we spent together. We were so fortunate to have you as long as we did. You were so many things to so many people, but to me you were just my little brother.
There will never, ever be another "Heath" and I think that in itself is the greatest tragedy.
I will continue to talk with you everyday and love you just as if you were here. You will never leave my thoughts "Roast", ever."
His younger sister, Olivia, wrote:
"You're my idol, my hero, but most importantly, my loving big brother. I'll treasure every moment we spent together. I love you Heath, I miss you and pray every night you're safe."
His entire family wrote:
"How do we describe our sudden and tragic loss? … You were the most amazing individual "old soul" in a young man's body.
You so loved us, as we dearly loved you. As a close knit and very private family unit we have observed you so determined yet quietly travelling in your self-styled path in life, nothing would get in your way … no mountain too tall, no river too wide.
You dreamed your dreams and lived them with passion and intelligent commitment. We have been privileged to accompany you on a ride through life that has simply been amazing and through it all, we have loved each other beyond imagination.
Your true legacy lives on in beautiful little Matilda, who will always remain in the greatest of care. Our hearts are broken . . . Dad and Ines, Mum and Roger, Kate and Nathan, Rori and Scarlett, Ashleigh, Olivia, Elana and Nadia."

i don't understand, if they all really were so close, wasn't there anything they could do to help him? my mum and dad were always running after me when they thought i was losing it, and thanks to them i've left all that shit behind you.
even amy's mum and dad seem to do everything they can to help her, even thoug it's sometimes a bit weird, their please throught the press

that was so beautiful and moving. he is so loved by his family it brings me to tears. it was so personal and sweet. my whole heart goes pout to his family. the world seems so unfair that he is gone. love you forever heath.
I loved you in "A Knight's Tale". Your other movies were great as well, but you really did it up here. So sad, so young and obviously had so much more to give. May you rest in peace. God bless your family during this horribly sad time.
That was so beautiful it made me tear up. We see that he was greatly loved in his short life and thats all that really matters now. As long as they keep him in their hearts he will always be with them. I'm truely sorry for their loss as well as Michelle and Matilda. Heath was a very wonderful and talented man.

Very eloquently said. You can feel the fanily's loss in your own heart as they humanized him to the rest of the world with their words of admiration and repsect and grief. He was a son and a brother long before any of us knew of him as an actor.
You were a diverse and wonderful actor who lived your life with dignity and respect. Your endearing shyness in your interviews and the way you sometimes fidgeted or wrung your hands showed you were real and somehow comforting. You were and are one of my favorite actors and my heartfelt sympathies to your Matilda and family. And also to Michelle because a huge responsibility falls upon her to be there for their sweet baby girl…rip xoxox

This family is truly beautiful. It's one reason I admire Australians so much. The are very open and warm. Men hug and are easy with affection. Women are strong as well as soft. They really know how to appreciate life and don't waste time in all the negativite stuff like, sadly, many Americans do.

I am still devastated that he is gone. I cried my eyes out when I read this post from his family. This just wasn't suppose to happen. He should be here. I will miss him. I will honor him through his films and thank God we were lucky enough to have him on this planet, if only for a short time..Tears are too much today.

In Australia, it is our way for family and friends to place messages out of respect for our loved ones when they die. This is done in the Death notices of our local papers. It is how we do things here and quite frankly I am sure the Ledger's and their friends don't give a rat's ass what your small mind thinks. You call them 'famewhores' for placing their tribute to their son and brother in our local newspaper….well had they not done this it would have been totally unlike what we as Australian's do. They are NORMAL Aussies.
The problem here is that these Death notices are usually only read by people in the community - I am sure the Ledger's never expected this to be printed on a bloody Hollywood Blog.

They got it right….they were so blessed to have had him in their lives as long as they did. He is Home now. Everyone should take a minute and look at their own lives…your loved ones. Appriecate them, love them….you never know when they'll be gone.

it's amazing to feel so sad and upset about a person i never met, i think the reason this happens is because we can place ourselves loosing someone so special in our own lives, and also when you see another family in pain and grieving you can see their heart ache, i live in australia and it has been a HUGE shock to us all.

I am truly devastated over the loss of such a wonderful actor and most of all an amazing person. Nobody could ever be able to replace him for he was genuinely one of a kind. Why does society obsess over the death of a celebrity? The publicity over the death of Heath Ledger shook me up, then quickly pissed me off. This man was an ACTOR for Pete's sake. He did not come up with world peace, the resolution to hunger in Africa or come up with a cure for AIDS. He lived a lavish lifestyle in his many houses and partied lalal la la la in celebland.
Why must the world shed tears over him so much and publicise his death, when millions of people have died who have given back so much to the world in a positive way? I am convinced the only reason why his death is being covered so much is because he starred in ONE good film. Okay, yippy skippy. That and because he has a cute face. Big deal. What else has he done? Starred in other huge blockbuster films that were life altering? Nope. So, what is it?
Loving mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, cousins, etc die every day. Why is it that they do not get a big hooplah to celebrate their lives? Yes, you can respond that Heath was famous and it's only natural for is death to be all over the news, but that does not make it normal and should not be accepted. What has he done for you? You never knew him! Let his family and friends grieve and you worry about your loved ones!
If there is a heaven, I hope Heath is up there with all of the rest of the celebrities wondering why they aren't receiving special attention anymore.

I blame Michelle Williams! Reports are now surfacing that Heath was worried because he was anticipating that Michelle was going to seek sole custody of their daughter. And where was his daughter has he lay dead? In Sweeden with Michelle on a long movie shoot. Since custody was not handled yet by the courts I would not think that dear Michelle had any right taking her daughter out of the country. Recovering from drugs or not, Heath had a right to have access to his daughter!!!! Michell Williams was obviously playing "the ex" role perfectly by using her daughter as a pawn. Seems as though he died of a broken heart!
Michell Williams is a no talent hack, her acting abilities are equal to that of a junior high drama student, daughter of a big time IRS tax evader, and just all around nothing! I feel sorry for poor Matilda to have to grow up with such a bitter and heartless mother.

My family did it for my cousin and grandfather when they died. Does that make us 'famewhore'? You're a moron. That's about two steps up from a pig.
