Heath's Masseuse Faces Jail Time!

Diana Lee Wolozin, the masseuse who found Heath Ledger's body on Tuesday, is in trouble.
The massage therapist - who made three phone calls to Mary-Kate Olsen before she even called 911 - does not hold a state license to perform massage therapy.
Wolozin is not listed on the New York State Education Department's Web site, which tracks licensed health care professionals.
Licensed massage therapists are supposed to be certified in CPR.
Practicing massage therapy in New York without a license is a felony and Wolozin could face fines or jail time.
“We have notified the New York City Police Department as part of their investigation that no one by that name is licensed as a massage therapist in the state of New York,” says Jonathan Burman, spokesman for the New York State Education Department.
Kathleen Doyle, Executive Secretary for the State Board, says, “I can only tell you that in New York state, at this time, the law requires that any person who uses the titles 'masseur, masseuse or massage therapist' must possess a license. It’s a health profession in New York.”
They should just smack her for not calling the police first!

It IS sketchy and that why people are talking about it! We'll probably figure it out before the cops do. This is just a gossip site it is not a Heath Ledger memorial site. No one is asking the right questions. Why would she call Mary Kate first? does anyone else other than me think its strange that of all the people she would call mary kate first 4 times in a row before she call the police. If that were me that found the body, I would probably call the person I knew was either there, had left or saw him last. To find out what they were doing…. I think someone needs to be asking Mary Kate some hard questions.

I'm glad they are going after her. I am paying a lot of money and working my butt off to become a massage therapist. Its a shame people just throw around a title many have to work hard to earn. It has a lot more to do with then knowing where to massage. Everything about what she did was unprofessional. If she had gone through a good school and the boards she wouldn't be in the mess she is now.

The blood settling in a corpse (livor mortis) takes about 4-8 hours. So either they weren't telling the truth about when he died or the sources that said it set in were wrong.

Actually, people DO die from getting therapeutic massage. You obviously know NOTHING about the human body, or the effects of manipulating ones tissues…many people are on meds, or have serious medical conditions that they don't disclose to their massage therapists. (which they are SUPPOSED to, as they must fill out a medical intake prior to massage, but of course, people lie" there are many medica conditions, as well as meds that could cause one to seizure, go into cardiac arrest, or have a stroke due to massage. That is where the CPR License comes in handy.

I don't feel much sympathy for her. I am a licensed healthcare professional in CA and I have to jump thru all the state and city hoops to keep my license current, including being CPR certified. If I can do it then anyone else making their living rendering healthcare and spa services can do it to. She was just lazy and greedy. I agree that she may have acted more professionally in this instance if she were properly trained and licensed. Let her learn her lesson!

I'm a massage therapist in north carolina, and licensure is a friggin big deal legally. it's not uncommon for people to do time for practicing w/o a license.
i think that in any other circumstance, it would have been right for her to call another celeb instead of 911. come on, if the situation wasn't so dire, would any celeb have wanted to cops all over it, and for it to be splashed all over the news, if he had had a non-life-threatening overdose? i think not. private security could have handled a less serious situation more discreetly.

Im an RMT in Canada and incredibly happy that this woman could face jail time. Its people like her that give our profession a bad name. Massage therapists are considered health care practioners, and we are regulated under the same laws that doctors, chiros + physios abide by (at least here in Canada)… thats why we need to have CPR. Whether doing CPR when this woman found Heath isnt the question, its that she was pretending to be a professional who could've assessed the situation properly if she had the training. Trust me people, when you spend 80% of your career looking at peoples bodies, esp backs, you know the difference between alive + sleeping, or dead. Peace.

If she had of been a licenced masseuse she would have known CPR as it is the 1st part of her training. The reports now coming throught from the paramedics log that he was still warm and the last 30 mins before they got there Heath could have been resussed. If they prove the woman was at fault she'll have to live with it for the rest of her life.
