Vegas Is On Fire!

The Monte Carlo in Sin City is ablaze, sources reveal exclusively to PerezHilton.com.
"There's a big cloud of black smoke above the hotel," a Vegas insider tells us. "It's very scary."
No word yet on what started the fire. Or the damage it caused/is causing the property.
Update: Sources tell us the hotel is being evacuated.
Four Monte Carlo employees are stuck on the roof.
Fire crews are on the scene.
The inferno first broke out around 11 A.M.
Update #2: The fire appears to be spreading. This is not looking good!
Traffic is backed up all over Las Vegas.
Update #3: No one is trapped anymore.
Update #4: The fire seems to have been contained.

That sucks! I stayed at that hotel about 2 years ago. Wonder were the people who had reservations are going to go now. Sucks to be them.

I live and work in Vegas. Im at work now and was here at the time the fire started. I know you people want to make a huge deal about this but it wasnt horrible. I work about 2 miles from the Monte Carlo and I never saw any smoke. By the end of the day it will be business as usual. There was no structural damage at all. Oh and Perez who ever your exclusive person you know out here needs to be fired. This was old news by the time you got it. lol
Well, at least they have 4 months to get everything fixed before I stay there in May!! I like the MC. I've stayed there twice.

ok- I live in vegas and can see the monte carlo from my office- and there have been NO reports of anybody stuck on the roof- the only people up there are firefighters trying to put out the fire- the firefighters have the upper hand now. And traffic isn't that outrageous unless your on the strip. but our whole town doesn't consist of the strip. so things in vegas are going as normal right now…. don't overreact! Geesh

Omgosh! I was just in Las Vegas this past summer staying at the Monte Carlo! Wow I'm soo glad that it didn't turn out to be anything to serious [people injured, worse damage, exc] That hotel is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in in Las Vegas, and I'm so glad that its all okay!! =] Because I'm going back soon and that is where I will be staying again since it was soo amazing!!

I live here in Vegas, and I could see the huge clouds of smoke about 15 miles away from the strip, from the boutique that I work at. I was just there on Thursday night having dinner…kinda scary.
Hey Perez, love your site. I just returned home from Vegas and my husband and I were staying at the Monte Carlo. We were in the middle of packing when my husband was flipping through the channels and then we saw that the hotel was on fire! We were like holy shit and grabbed our stuff and just ran out of there as fast as we could. The fire alarm was going off but it just kept saying please stand by the incident is being investigated! Then we were herded out to New York New York. We just left for the airport from there and were glad to get back to Canada! It was very scary to see your hotel on fire on the news! Oh well we are safe and glad to be home.

I work in a neighboring hotel. It's much worse than it looked. Exterior damage from the melting foam. It wasn't that bad. It won't take long to fix.
My friend and I were staying there! We had to be evacuated, but when the fire alarm went off it just kept saying the "incident was being investigated" so we thought some drunk kid had pulled the fire alarm. Finally when we got outside, were were like "holy crap, our hotel is on fire!!!"
In the end they put us up at the Mandalay Bay, comped our weekend, and gave us free clothes and toiletries! Glad no one was hurt! It was crazy!
