Australian rocker Nathan Hudson from the band Faker has come out of the closet!
Says the now publicly out singer: "I'm happy to talk about it, for that kid who's 15 and scared. My association with being gay was that it was bad and dark and not good for you. I had trouble finding people to look up to. I'm talking about this to be a bit freer. It's something that shouldn't matter and, on a lot of levels, it doesn't - I hope the music we make transcends that. Still it's nice to be able to say this stuff.

Faker is a great band regardless ~ and if nathan's coming out is going to help some kids (or older people) feel more accepted in a world that will largely be against them then so much the better.
Also Faker's new album is fantastic- if this is the first you're hearing of this band then you should really check out their music.

Also, I was never abused as a child but that doesn't make me homophobic. In fact, I'm a huge supporter of human rights, especially gay rights. Yes gays are usually abused as kids but that's just because it's easy to tell when someone is gay from a young age (because they're born that way) and parents and kids at school can be very mean and homophobic. I actually know people who are gay, therefore I am able to form an opinion on them. You have never actually known anyone who is gay but you judge them from stereotypes.
How are gays like murderers and rapists when they don't harm anyone? You just hear more about when a man is raped by another man then when a women is raped by a man because that's the way society is, society is prejudiced against gays.

I know some gay people at my uni who haven't been abused or traumatised in any way.
