New OneRepublic!

They had one of the biggest songs of 2007 with Apologize, but OneRepublic ain't no one-hit wonder.

We bought their album and it's good. Real good. It's filled with radio-friendly songs that are bound to make them one of the breakout acts of '08.

OneRepublic are like the American version of Coldplay, and that's a big compliment.

Click here to watch the just-released video for their great song Stop and Stare.

    105

A comparison to coldplay?? You're nuts. There is nothing original or innovative about their music. How much did your label pay you to post this mediocre pop song?

I like the song, but I think they should've brought out Say (All I need) though. Fav song on their album!

I've had their album for a couple weeks, and I LOVE IT. It's constantly playing in my car. Every song has great lyrics and a good beat behind it. I also wish they got more credit for Apologize… the only time you heard Timbaland was when he was moaning in the beginning. Oh well! They're here now, and not going anywhere for awhile!

THEY BLOW!!!!!!!!! Perez has the worst taste in music

  16. B says – reply to this

    116

Perez, Perez, Perez……..I am now beginning to question your musical taste. First Emmy Rossum now THIS? Is one Republic good? Yes. An "American Coldplay"?, NO NO NO. They are more like a Matchbox 20, Five For Fighting, or that group who sings "Drops of Jupiter". I mean, honestly people.

  17. JD says – reply to this

    117

I saw them in concert a month ago, and they were amazing!

    Stop and stare!

  18. Elizabeth says – reply to this

    118

I have OneRepublic's CD and I think they are great, but the American Coldplay? Seriously? Coldplay is on the same level with bands like Radiohead. I don't think OneRepublic is quite there yet. Plus, there music is very different. Much more "radio-friendly" as you put it.

  19. Maribel says – reply to this

    119

Okay…there is NO WAY OneRepublic is a version of Coldplay. What an insult. I'll admit that Stop and Stare is an okay song…but in no way does this band compare to Coldplay. I downloaded the OneRepublic cd a month ago and its not that great. COLDPLAY ACTUALLY HAS TALENT!

    confessions of a broken fart

ok, i lied. who hasn't? Bree & i never broke up. It was this clever idea i had when i first met her in rehab. I knew i had a shot with her, a lonely little red head in utah with drug addictions. Bree & I then faked a breakup, putting the blame on linds so bree could sell her $tory. Only did i know that things would get so serious with us. our trips to la and ny were lame, she wanted the attention & drugs, and everything that put her in cirque. I just wanted the money. & in the end, Riley - 1. Lindsay - 0. I then had some pics/videos im sure that would sell, what was i to do with them? The money i got off that, i bought my beautiful fiance a new, REAL ring. The actual final straw was me, finding out from Mrs Ronson, that Linds actually did have some relations with Heath (rip bro!!) It was just to messy for me to deal with. Im sure you guys will be seeing me in the near future ;)

COLDPLAY? COLDPLAY? I dont hear it

  23. Reynolds Rap says – reply to this

    123

MKO was trying to help Heath get off of street drugs. The reason the massage therapist knew how to speed-dial MKO on Heath's phone is that MKO made sure that hers was the only number on the speed-dial. She was trying to protect him from himself and all the partying skanks that celebrities attract. Neither MKO or her twin sister have ever done recreational drugs. They're both very in to metaphysics and New Age…no partying there. MKO is devastated that people have been accusing her of being responsible for his death because she kept the therapist on the phone too long. This simply is not the truth. She was having a difficult time getting her head around the reality of this tragedy. Normally, this kind of information gets filtered by her people before she has to confront it. This was delivered directly to her and she was in a state of disbelief. When was the last time she saw Heath. What did they do together? When did they last speak over the phone….This is so sad and yet so compelling.

Honestly, Coldplay wasn't all that. I went to see OneRepublic live in concert and they were awesome! The tickets to the show weren't even as expensive as other artists and it was a small venue which I absolutely love! I was in the front row! I looked up the lead singer's stats on wikipedia and he is actually a very well accomplished songwriter for many of the mainstream artists out there! I was very surprised! His album is definitely one of the best this year! Honestly, he has better songs on his album then the singles that have been released already. Check out "Say (All I Need)", "All We Are", "Prodigal", and "Come Home"…those were my favs! OneRepublic is definitely a mix of Coldplay (with the whole piano deal and the lead singer's smooth), a twist of perhaps Maroon 5(the catchy tunes), with some R&B flavor (with the beats)!!!

Apologize came out like 3+ years ago.
    they just weren't as mainstream.

    126

Please stick to trashing trashy celebrities rather than making musical comparisons between apples and oranges. Coldplay actually orchestrates and writes their own music; One Republic is basically Timbaland's maironette show where guys with guitars play out the songs HE writes.

    145

I wouldn't make the Coldplay comparison (Coldplay are melody-conscious but almost more 'conservative'), but they are definitely radio-friendly. I didn't like this track as much as Apologize (not because of Timbaland's involvement, just because of the lyrics and violin intro on Apologize), but I've heard worse, and mainstream radio certainly won't suffer airing such a single.

PEREZ, If you ever gave up the gossip biz, you'd make a GREAT radio program director (although it doesn't pay too great : ) — your ability to call potential hits is spot on! Good ear, my dear… From a former radio girl.

I love it! I have their album and it's all great music. This is actually my favorite song on the album. Ryan Tedder's voice is leaps and bounds over Chris Martin's. They don't even begin to compare. I'll take One Republic over Coldplay any day! But really, why do the comparisons even matter? You can like or hate Coldplay. You can like or hate One Republic. Like 'em both or leave 'em both. Whatever. Just judge each band on their own merits.

Good song, and I have to agree that they do sound like Coldplay.. You can def. here the influence in it.
Also, can I just point out the fact that the lead singer of Onerepublic looks like Chester Bennington ( I don't know if that is how you spell his last name ) The lead singer in Linkin Park…

I love OneRepublic, I found them on MySpace a long time ago and now they are finally famous. While watching the video I'm reminded of Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me a River" video with the dark hoodie he has on, and also I'm reminded of Britney's one video where she's in that tub and at the end she comes back up out of the water…the end of this video does that. hmm…i wonder if that was on purpose.

The O.C. is my favorite show on this planet and the lead Ryan Tedder reminds me of Benjamin Mckenzie who played Ryan Atwood on the show. He has the same haircut Ben has now and the one he had during season 4

    And I like this band

You know I'm really disappointed in this band. I remember when they had 4 songs for free on myspace and their name was REPUBLIC…not one republic. # 158 is so true…Coldplay are more rock than people think. when they think of coldplay, they automatically think of "clocks" or piano riffs. DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!! youtube "God Put a Smile Upon Your Face" nothing like One Republic. they're ok…but after a while "apologize" gets boring. their first single cannot even come close to coldplay's "yellow". "yellow" was just brilliant!
