Unfortunately, intelligent compassion and empathy have little place in our world now. When I look at the picture of Britney Spears, I feel great empathy for her, and sadness at how sick our world has become. How could we–how could websites and magazines etc.–treat an ill 26-year-old mom with such cruelty and cynicism? I agree with everything you said, Kathleen.
I can only imagine the fear she feels inside. If I was in her position (as I was earlier in my life) I know how scared I would have been. Those tears say more to me that she knows that her life is spinning out of control. In periods of darkness you will often see bright flashes of light, which is your inner self, you soul if you will, remembering what it was like to be whole.
I truly feel bad for her. She's quickly losing the grip of control (although it is false control) she had over her life. Whether that means drugs, or motherhood, or her need to be loved…whatever. She's losing control. For her own sake (even if she doesn't understand why just yet), I hope her family is able to reach out to her during one of those flashes of light and saves her from herself. Britney is her own worst enemy.

I want her to be happy. Maybe she is happy, but the pictures that are posted online seem to portray her as very sad. I really hope that eventually she finds happiness. I think, even if she is not nice to others, if that is the case, that is no reason for others to be mean to her. People should be compassionate to her, because she seems like she is in a lot of emotional pain. People should support her, in her public and personal life, and not point out all the weak points in her life. She has little children and will need to become a stronger mother for them, a happy mother, and it is hard to do that for most people when mass amount of people are analyzing every move and mistake.
