New Line pictures is planning a remake of the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise.
Michael Bay's production company will oversee the re-imagining.
At this point it's uncertain if Robert Englund, who portrayed Freddy Krueger in nine films and the TV show, will be back to portray the legendary serial killer.
Ughhh. Bay is already fucking up Friday the 13th for a remake of that.
He better not mess with Elm Street!

The only way that I would consider seeing this movie is if Robert Englund is in it. He IS Freddy!! There is no way I could watch someone else as Freddy. They should just do another movie like Freddy VS Jason, that movie was awesome. And #12, I know what you mean..the Halloween that Rob Zombie directed scared the shit out of me too.
I swear, the Hollywood sect of the film industry is chock full of the most unoriginal motherfuckers imaginable. This little re-make trend has been going on for years now…"take an original, well-made horror movie, re-make it and fuck it up."

First, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Now, lets see…The Omen, Halloween, Race With the Devil, The Hills Have Eyes (and I'm SURE The Last House on the Left is coming soon), The Wicker Man, When a Stranger Calls, The Fog, Black Christmas…just to name a FEW. Coming: The Evil Dead, The Fly, FRIDAY THE 13TH!!?? A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET!?…and many, many other ridiculous re-makes that are sure to NOT scare you. Well, at least they serve the purpose of fooling those who don't know any better into thinking that there are some original big-budget filmmakers/writers out there…

Did I go deaf??…..I haven't heard the world clamoring for a re-make of Freddy…didn't hear the world calling for a re-make of Halloween either. Just goes to show that Hollywood has lost all imagination and originality over the last 10 years or so.

Perez, you don't know if Michael is 'fucking up' Friday the 13th. You, nor anyone else has read or even seen anything about the Friday remake. Have your review WHEN you actually can read something that's not from years ago or even watch a clip.
Also, these new American filmmakers and 'writers' need to be more original. It aggravates me when I see remakes of awsome films [mainly J-Horro] and have these idiots fuck it up.
I thought they were suppose to be making a prequel to the first movie. Doing a remake would suck ass. Bad idea!

They shoudn't mess with the original. I know it's a little dated but the way it was shot without alot of "POW POW" made it more interesting and eerie. It was like it could be real and you were watching it alone. If they mess with it now it will change the whole feeling. It will look so MOVIELIKE. And that will take away from the series. They've already shown that with the last sequal "Freddy Vs Jason".
They should just make another sequel and don't fix what aint broke with the originals.

Actually…. it's not a remake of the original Nightmare On Elm Street… It's going to be a prequel to the original, which doesn't really make much sense considering i thought they covered most of that crap in the Jason Vs Freddy movie.
Should be interesting to see what comes out of it all and if it is a remake of the original, lets hope Johnny Depp will be making a return as one of the original characters.

OMG! Nightmare on Elm Street is a freaking classic. Why does Michale Bay think he can throw money at it and make it better? It doesn't need to be better. People already love it. All he will manage to do is make it incredibly hollywood and take the grittiness out of it and add camp value. I don't want to see some big actor as Freddy. Why so he can have a remake in his pocket? Lame. He should go make a Smurfs movie and move on.
