Edwards To Quit Presidential Race!

john.jpg

So sad.

John Edwards is dropping out of the running for his bid to be the next President of the United States of America.

The two-time presidential hopeful will make the announcement at 1 p.m. EST today at an event in New Orleans.

The Democratic race is now really just between Barack and Hillary. Edwards is not expected to immediately endorse one of the other candidates.

I am so dissapointed. We need to realize that this is due to mainstream media forcing the idea of only 2 candidates on the American people. Stop letting corporations dictate American policy! If you got to msnbc there is finally an article highlighting the fact that both the other democratic candidates and even a republican jumped onto the bandwagon only after Edwrads brought these issues to light. I too will write him in!

John Edwards started out strong in Iowa and slowly fizzled out. He wanted to stay in the race until the convention and become a power broker. The talk is that he is in cahoots with Obama and wants to become Attorney General, so he wants to throw his support and delegates to Obama. If that is the case, then I am glad he didn't make it that far. He has never won a primary and to have the loser of a race decide who the winner will be is Un-American and unfair. He should go home and take of his family. They need him.

He is def the most normal one of the bunch. But I guess America likes candidates that over act in every single aspect. Fake!

I aam really mad that he's dropping out of the race for the Dem..Why don't ppl open there eyes ppl aren't going to vote for a woman or a black man to be president to win so we will have another Republician Pres. It's a set up.

    110

That's really sad. I caucused for him in Iowa and think he's a great candidate. BUT the great thing about the election this year is that there are so many great people to choose from, and I think any of the democrats will do great.

  11. Mean Girl says – reply to this

    111

    You know Perez,
You never even mentioned Edwards in your posts. It was always Obama and Clinton!
So don't act too sad. I repeat…don't act too sad now that our country has absolutely no hope. I hope you all enjoy McCain as your next dousche bag devil republican asshole!

    112

Fucking Finally!!! He was really pissing me off with all his stupid comments and pushing his personal money in everyone's face. And the fact that he was opposing gay marriage due to "moral" reasons…bullshit he was opposing it because Mormons don't believe in gay marriage. I doubt he would have made it to the actual presidential race since if you look at the presidential history of this country…we've never had a Mormon president. They've all been Protestant, Christian, or some form of the two. I doubt we would've wavered from that, the same goes to having an African-American or a woman as president. Even if it would be cool. Any of the main Democratic hopefulls are idiots and should just drop out now. Same with the Republicans. Lets just start this whole thing over so that we can POSSIBLY get some people who ACTUALLY use their brains when it comes to politics.

God, I just realized why I hated politics so much. I'm voting for Mickey Mouse for President. GO MICKEY!!!

I thought he'd be in it til after super tuesday at least.

Probably vote for Obama now. Edwards has atleast leaned towards him over the past month and Hillary really isn't the ideal candidate in terms of uniting the repubs.

    114

Obama is a muslim name you idiots google it. VOTE for HILLARY.

    115

This is too bad. I really liked Edwards. I am hoping and praying that he joins Obama and we have an Obama/Edwards ticket. THAT is the combination that can take back the White House. If it's Hillary vs. McCain…even I'm going to vote for McCain…and the only Republican I've ever voted for was Michael Bloomberg…although they tell me that doesn't count ;)

Hillary needs to hang it up before she and Bill manage to completly destroy any chance the Democrats have of regaining the White House.

Please, please, please John Edwards…join Obama and make it Obama/Edwards in 08!!!!!!

  16. Holly says – reply to this

    116

I am so sad. Edwards was my choice. I hope he endorses Hillary and takes the Attorney General position in the White House with her. He is very inspiring, and he really fights for Americans. I will miss him.

Barack Obama doesn't deserve his endorsement, he's a fucking douchebag. I don't trust him.

    122

Honestly it's annoying that Obama gets so much media for nothing, Edwards has a good head on his shoulders and seems like he'd be a great diplomat. Obama seems like he wouldn't know what the fuck to do without a huge group of advisors

  23. JB says – reply to this

    123

This is a sad day. The media hyped up Obama/Clinton as if they were the only two running. Edwards would have given us healthcare like the rest of the industrialized world. ( go see "Sicko") I am a Republican and was supporting Edwards. Dont know if he will go for VP. SO many here want him with Obama but according to insiders he has been in touch with Clinton on this. who knows.

  24. betty says – reply to this

    124

Please don't post political views if you are misinformed. Edwards was no ambulance chaser. He defended women against doctors. Don't knock attorneys. You never know when you might need one

Meagan: John Edwards announced his 1st run for president on 9/16/03, so in truth, he was a 2 time hopeful.

FrustratedCAvoter: John Edwards is a Southern Baptist, not Mormon. Mitt Romney (R) is Mormon.

The Clinton machine got to him, seems he was taking some of the WHITE vote that Hillary needs
So they did some digging, turns out a few years back Elizabeth & Johnny were having some problems, went to seek help, the confidental files were stolen

Seems the problems they were having had to do with John seeing another man

If you remember a few weeks ago a story was leaked about him and another woman (that was a cover) for this real story

God Bless the Clintons and their climb to the top

  28. lee says – reply to this

    128

    CurtM
You are exactly correct. Mr. Edwards sued many physicians when they did nothing wrong. Being in the medical field, I believe this to be true.
When he was representing the state of NC, I lived there, we called him Senator Gone because he was never there and did nothing for the state. I knew of no one in the area in which I lived who would have voted for him based on how awful he was for the state. It is also disingenous to run as "Mr. for the Middle Class" when you live in a house that is a mansion. It's like listen to what I say but don't look at what I actually own. And before anyone says oh this person is a bitter Republican-guess again.

  29. holly says – reply to this

    129

    Hey betty,
better not knock all the doctors - there might not be any when you need one. Don't post what u don't know for sure. I'm positive mr get rich from suing physicians sued some in there that didn't deserve it. Believe me it happens all the time. It only takes one zealous attorney to ruin the career of a good doctor. It only takes an accusation and that physician has to report it every time he/she applies for anything. don't tell me this is crap because i've lived it first hand.

    132

Re: FrustratedCAvoter – One of the reasons that you are frustrated could very well be that you haven't the slightest clue about who you are talking about. Mitt Romney, a REPUBLICAN, is a mormon. NOT John Edwards. If you cannot keep the parties or the candidates stright, I am truly afraid of your comprehension of the issues. Do us all a favor and stay home during the elections. It is people like you, who vote on sound bites from the Fox News Network and internet rumors, that have made our political process a laughingstock worldwide.

    Re: Edwards Rules
U know what, being a Southern Baptist is just as bad as a Mormon. They are even more strick when it comes to LGBT issues. I'm glad he's gone. And I don't listen to the news for my information on "who" to vote for. I use my BRAIN…something I'm coming to notice a lot of people DON'T use. This country has become worse with every president, the power has been reversed from being in the hands of us (the people) to being completely in the hands of the government (namely the president). Congress forgets that they can overrule any veto the president gives…so basically all the troops could've been home AGES ago, but noooo…Congress forgets that they are MORE powerful than the president and so they just go with whatever the president says. I am not an idiot when it comes to politics. I just choose not to pay attention because they all talk out of their asses and don't mean a word they say. They'll never deliver in anything they say, whether they are Democrat, Republican, Independant, Green, or whatever…nothing will change with this presidenticy.

People have been too fascinated with the battle between a woman and a black man for president that they probably have forgotten to look at the issues and qualifications: Edwards would have made a great president.

    Re: Kay Black

no, his race has nothing to do with it. i don't trust him because he tries to act like he does no wrong, and everytime anyone confronts him about something he said, he takes it back. what about those 100 "present" votes in the senate? he didn't vote. if there's an issue that he has to deal with as president, he can't back out. i honestly know nothing about his policies because he goes to his rallies and debates and tries to act like a preacher talking about change and how we need to unify ourselves. well, duh. we know that, but how are YOU going to go about changing this country, barack? that's why i don't like him. just so you know.

Our elected leaders and would be leaders are more show than substance, but this is also indicative of our society. As for using the brain, refer to the bell curve, most folks don't have much of one. We are all screwed now!!

i believe every issue is of importance. otherwise, it wouldn't have made it to the senate in the first place. you have your opinions, and i have mine, that's the beauty of america. i think john edwards would have been the best choice for bringing about change for the true middle class. that's all i'm saying.

It's about time! Edwards' blinking makes me nervous, never trusted him.
Obama is young, but he has the passion, commitment and pride in our country that reminds me of RFK, JFK and even Bill Clinton. I admire how Obama has inspired young adults. After 7 years with Bush, I truly appreciate Obama's intelligence and levelheadedness.
I would vote for McCain before Hillary. She is too angry and contrived.
