The voice of Bart Simpson, actress Nancy Cartwright, donated $10 million to the "church" of Scientology last year.
TEN MILLION!!!
Her donation was part of Scientology’s Global Salvage effort, which aims to “de-aberrate” Earth - meaning to rid mankind of psychology ills and other “aberrant” behavior.

Nancy, who makes over $200,000 per episode of The Simpsons, donated twice as musch as the Queen Scientologist, Tommy Cruise, who only gave $5 million in an installment plan.
Kirstie Alley matched Tom’s donation, but fellow actors John Travolta and wife Kelly Preston donated just a million each. His career ain't quite what it used to be!

I work in a government agency assisting people who suffer from mental illness and chemical dependency issues. I just spent some time this morning talking to a gal who said she has been a drug abuser for 30 years and has just completed 6 months of sobriety. She is desperately trying to stay clean, keep her job, find an apartment, etc. She is so proud of her success and is working so hard to maintain it. She knows she needs help and is so afraid she is going to lose the funding that provides her a group home, treatment and case management services. I tried to be supportive and encouraging to her but the bottom line is that the government agencies that are funding her services have to cut her loose now as she has used up all the funds available to her. This situation is not unique, it happens every day all across America. We can spend tax dollars and charitable donations to help these people stay clean and have some stability, or we will be forced to spend the money when they end up in jail, detox or the hospital. To read that a wealthy person gave $10 million to a cult that doesn't believe that everything I work to provide; psychological and chemical dependency treatments, therapy and meds really work, is just heart breaking to me. What we could do with that $10 million! What a crying shame.

Further, believing that only one particular method of teaching can make the earth or its inhabitants "de-aberrated" is grossly immature and UN-EVOLVED. Considering that there is no way on earth, (no pun intended) of ever TRULY knowing where we've been or where we'll go, I'd say Scientologists have A LOT to learn. They have obviously failed to "think this through," and rather than go BEYOND what their egos dictate to elicit truth, they are banking on the ignorant and rich to further their deluded ends.
