The Hollywood community is still very upset at Entertainment Tonight and The Insider.
A behind-the-scenes campaign happened aggressively on Wednesday to pressure the shows not to broadcast that Heath Ledger video everyone was talking about.
Several top publicity companies threatened to never give the shows access to their star clients again. They caved.
However, we're told that many are still upset because ET and The Insider made it seem like Heath was doing drugs in the video.
He was not, a person who has seen the full clip tells us.
Additionally, when the shows aired a preview of the video, they showed a clip of Ledger saying, "I used to smoke five joints a day for 20 years."
However, what they didn't show you was that afterwards, he said , "and that's why I got this tattoo [an M, for daughter Matilda] to remind me never to smoke weed again."

He has been in Hollywood for a while now, his first BIG breakout role was at 20 (in 10 things I hate about you) and YES he did look 20. That is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard.

I didnt even watch the video because I'm disgusted with this story. The guy was an incredibly talented actor, and yes, he had his problems (like everyone else in this world), which arent anyone's business even if he was famous. Just let his family mourn without having to hear such nasty stories about the man they loved and losed. I'm guessing about 98% of it is pure BS; made up by losers for monetary gain, how sad is the world to use a guy's passing for that?

-Heath may have been an addict (which not confirmed) but why does it matter now? He is dead and gone
-Doing this is not benefiting anyone but the people who sold this tape and the shows that were planning on playing it
-it's pathetic that they want to post this AFTER he has died trying to soil his image
-HEath was never seen partying and doing drugs, and was rarely in the tabloid (except maybe his breakup with whats her face and his daughter's birth)
-We all have our issues and these were his, but what is the point in making a big public scandal about it now
-What happened 2 years ago is in the past it is not relevant now. We will wait for the toxicology reports to make a conclusion. The medical examiners would be able to tell if he did coke or herion recently (especially herion due to the needle tracks)
- This is despectful and those who wish to benefit from his death should be ashamed
- I do agree that he was facing some issues (towards the end of 2006 he started looking VERY rough)

Re: The truth hurts – Actually my cousin died from so called natural causes at 23. He was in great shape, ate extremely well, worked out (but not overkill) didn't drink, do drugs or smoke…Led a very health conscious life. Basically my understanding is it just means that they can't find any reason in the autopsy for their death so it is termed"natural causes." But I grant you - it is rare. And I agree there is at least a solid possibility that a drug problem or drugs (even just used recreationally) led to his death. My objection? That they manipulate something to pretend that is evidence of such a problem. If you can't report the story b/c you don't have enough evidence - then get it don't change it to suit your needs! And if you have enough evidence to report your story use it- whether the story is sleazy or not it is your moral compass to stand by. But they should be in trouble for misrepresenting this tape to be something it is not. I think actually it is to the man's benefit now to show the whole tape very prominantely so people are aware that he never did anything nefarious on the tape like was previously implied. And BTW 4 people in a room, 1 or 2 of which do a line of coke hardly makes a drug party…The reporter should've only presented the facts not made up innuendo to substantiate a story they wanted to present.

I mean who the hell gets serious about stopping smoking weed for their kid & decides to start doing coke? It doesn't make sense…it makes him sound more straitlaced & serious then he was originally presented or I would've thought…Bottom line I have no clue what the man did in his life & this tape shown in its entirety doesn't make him look bad. It appears he just met them since they were introducing themselves with questions like "where are you from, what do you do for a living etc." It just didn't seem like an abnormal situation to me. Re: vera – No Vera NATURAL CAUSES does not mean they cannot figure out what someone died from. That gets labeled suspicious, unsolved, or unknown. NATURAL causes means that the body ceased to function on its own without any outside forces or known malaise or illness or trauma. So if he died from NATURAL CAUSES it means that there is not substantial drug effect or toxic levels of anything to reasonably attribute this as the cause of death. If he died of natural causes there will be no atrophy, no scarring, no tumors, no blunt force trauma, etc, etc etc. But NATURAL CAUSES is not the WELL WE CANT FIGURE THIS OUT get out of autopsy free card

Also, I knew someone who died of natural causes at age 22 so yes, it actually is possible. So you're pretty sure he overdosed are you - did you know him…? He probably started smoking younger then most maybe by like 8 or 10 & became a pothead at like 12 which is very young & just sort of rounded it up based on the type of audience he was dealing with…But I don't know the man so he could be telling the truth.

However the coverage of Ledger with the video, at best has been misleading, at worst deliberately deceptive to try and substantiate a story they want to sell. The story itself may or may not be true, but the video was used in a way intended to mislead. That's a problem.

Surely you are not so niave to think that young people don't die of natural cuases. My daughter just lost her friend at age 15……from a heart condition that was random. She had no history of a heart condition and was a model student……no drugs! Leave Heath alone. No one but Heath knows what happened and how he lived his life. I'm sure the coroner will sort it out for his families peace of mind!!

why do videos like these only ever surface when the person dies?? now he can't explain what truly happened and what he was truly doing there. and some of the reports i have read about this video need to get their facts straight. one report i read said that it showed Heath snorting cocaine. but all the other reports said he wasnt doing any drugs. i am glad that actors protested this video…why does the media exploit things like these?? it is just wrong. let the man rest in peace and let his family have the peace they need, don't start messing with their feelings like this. i just hope for the family's sake that Heath managed to stay clean and no illegal drugs are found in his body once the toxocology report is released.

The family of Heath want their own time to grieve, lucky this tape was visable, and the person who revealed it was surley knowledgable that if everyone in hollywood searched their own little video library, they'd find randoms admitting to smoking, toking, and gambling beyond belief, leave the poor families to grieve, letting out this tape is disturbing enough as something some werent aware of in his life, but his career and family was most important to him, think of them before you pass on your rude comments that you'd show it, did you not like him? did you have a personal grudge about him that just erked you to be like this? time to let him be at peace where ever he goes, and get on with the paris', brittanys and beyonce's of the world. I find this all very suspicious when I found out he was dead I thought it was an overdose (accidental), BUT now that people are coming forward with information (that they didn't come forward with TWO years ago) I think it is just VERY suspicious. I mean if some had a "drug" video of Jake Gylennhaal you bet it would get people's attentions (since neither he or heath were EVER accused of drug use). I don't understand so during his life drug use or anything of the sort was NEVER mentioned but some how magically NOW it is. SPLASH News has aquired the rights to the video and they are showing the whole unedited version. Its about 8 minutes long and there is nothing shocking about. Heath is NOT doing drugs in the video at all, though there are 2 guys who are seen doing lines. He spends most of time talking about his tattoos his girlfriend. Whats really sad is that someone is obviously filming him through a window, trying to set him up. The whole time's he's just acting like a normal person, talking with these people.
I love Heath and wanted to check out the unedited version for myself. The poor guy is just trying to hang out with some regular people(how many celebrities would do that)and the whole time they're filming him thru a window. If Heath was a drug addict, he would have been doing drugs with those guys. He wouldn't have been able to resist the temptation. If they had him on tape doing drugs, they would have shown it, believe me. He talks about Matilda and what a great girl his girlfriend is. The fact that 2 people chose to do drugs in that room has nothing to do with Heath. He chose not to. It was eerie watching him, just acting like a regular guy. I feel horrible that those people chose to set him up like that, but glad they didn't get the dirt they were after. Heath was one of the best, and I miss him terribly.
That's stupid, he died at 28, right? how could he smoke 5 joints a day for 20 years? Did he start smoking when he was 8 years old or what???

I just don't understand how this is different from the crazy clown Anna Nicole videos- no one ever held off airing those to "show respect for her family".
Why do we live in a sick fucked up world where we think it's ok to bash the non-living and speak of what should coulda woulda. It just shows that they have nothing better to do. Has anybody watched ET and the Insider and not gotton the same thing from both shows. Personally they should both be pulled. I guess when Pat O'Brien dies of an O.D. they can show his videos also..

Yeah, I agree. There is a huge amount of hypocrisy and denial when it comes to this story and people's outrage.

I thought that statement about the joints was made up. I heard him say it on that video but couldn't help feel it was a lie or exageration. I mean for 20 years he smoked 5 joints a day? He'd have been 8 years old when he started then right because he was only 28 when he died. Sounds like a lie or exageration to me. How could his parents not know about that? An 8 year old smoking weed? 5 J's a day. Yeah right.
I just wish everyone would leave the story alone already. It's so disrespectful to his memory and to his family. I'm a mail carrier and am frankly weary of seeing his face on all the celebrity gossip rags I deliver everyday. Stop speculating and trying to dig for stories and just wait to see what the toxicology reports brings back.

I think the difference is Anna Nicole was a joke. She always made a fool of herself. Heath was a well respected actor and ET and The Insider hyped up the video and made it seem like Heath was caught on tape doing drugs and he wasn't. They were trying to get ratings for their show by putting his family through hell. He was not caught doing anythig wrong, except hanging out with some shady people.
Well good on you Perez for reflecting him in a better light. Why don't we quit while we're ahead, now, and leave the guy alone.
