Michelle Wiliams is speaking publicly for the first time since the tragic death of Heath Ledger.
The grieving actress' publicist released a statement on Friday. It reads:
"Please respect our need to grieve privately. My heart is broken. I am the mother of the most tender-hearted, high-spirited, beautiful little girl who is the spitting image of her father. All that I can cling to is his presence inside her that reveals itself every day. His family and I watch Matilda as she whispers to trees, hugs animals, and takes steps two at a time, and we know that he is with us still. She will be brought up with the best memories of him."
Our thoughts are with her.

Anyways, all of this is my own assumption based on just what I have read and seen. The person I feel most sorry for is Matilda. I remember seeing pictures of him & her and thinking how identical they looked. She will never get to know him in true form. Pictures and words cant replace someone's true self. I loved to listen to him speak because of his accent & voice. That is something I will truly miss. I hope that Michelle has the strength to move on & find a really nice guy that will be as good to Matilda as her dad was. Those two have been through so much. RIP Heath. I will forever adore you!
my prayers are with michelle, matilda and the ledger family. i remember seeing an episode of the oprah show, while brokeback mountain was being promoted, you can see how truly in heah and michelle were.

This entire story breaks my heart & I didn't even know him. We cannot even begin to imagine what it is like to deal with this tragedy in front of the entire world.
I think if any of us are true fans, we should respect him and his family to mourn in private.

I have an 8 yr old daughter as well who is the spitting image of her father and I cannot fathom the pain and loss you and Matilda are going through. Stay strong girl! Re: rolo – are you kidding me? have u ever seen a child play? Kids talk to everything and the youthfulness and carelessness and enjoyment they get out of exploring is the most enjoyable sight. My heart goes out to Michelle, Matilda and Heaths family. I don't know Heath or his family, but we too lost a loved one and know the pain they are going through at this time. Stay strong and remember the good times for your little girl. Her remembering her father as the "superman" she feels he is in her eyes is all that matters. Leave this media stuff float out your ears. Next week Brittany will do something that will make them forget about Heath. And then the rest of the world can remember what we all loved about Heath.
Rolo - Did it ever occur to you that she isn't "talking to trees" but talking to the spirit of her father who is watching over her, bringing her comfort, whom she , as a child, can see when noone else can?

We loved him too. And speaking for myself, and a few others, we will respect everything you and your family ask. I know what it's like to lose someone that you've loved so desperately and completely, enough to bear his child.. I'd be devastated if I lost mine completely, but I've lost mine to drugs already. I pray it's not a matter of time.
I dunno if you'll read this one day. Maybe you will.

I can not believe the amount of evil comments posted under this topic. We know there will be spin with the reporting of all aspects of this sad event, but at the end of the day, a woman has just lost a man she obviously loved and a child has lost a much loved father. Surely, if you have one ounce of humanity within you, your heart would go out to those involved? A statement was given to the press because that was what they were asking for and there are some here who criticise that because they feel it's Williams trying to spin the situation to her advantage? Please! That's just bloody stupidity. If you have nothing nice to say and can offer no words of condolence, then don't say anything at all. It's hurtful, disrespectful and simply juvinille. Grow up.

just days before his death i was watching "10 things I hate about u", which is one of my favorite movies!
i mean, i didnt know the guy, but i liked him as an actor.

Because she is a child and children do things like that…. they are wide-eyed, mystified with the world and innocent of the ills of the world, while we are not.

Such a graceful and thoughtful statement from Michelle in such a time of unimaginable grief. She is class, personified, just as we think of Heath as being.
Together, they created a beautiful little life. I respect their need for privacy, as well as Michelle's desire for Matilda to know the best of Heath.
