There is some truth to what Ms. Alba says. Albuquerque is not exactly where it's at…it's more like a suburb in search of a city. True, there are a lot of lousy restaurants. i often stay at the Wyndam at the airport when flying internationally and sometimes my entourage and I hop in to the limo to go to a "trendy" restaurant. It's almost always a disappointment, but there are a few exceptions. Lately, the film industry has been showing an interest in the Duke City and Northern New Mexico in general. Rumor has it that Dame Helen Mirren has purchased a house in the area while filming. Stars are always showing up at AA meetings throughout Northern New Mexico, or so I hear. Rehab seems to be very big in that dusty state for out-of-towners. Next time, I suggest that Ms. Alba fly up to Santa Fe…and eat at Geronimo's on Canyon Rd. She'll be glad she did.

I used to live in ABQ and it's got great restaurants, why would you even go to Chili's and Applebees, that shit is flavored with chemicals they make on the New Jersey Turnpike, it's not even food! It should be illegal for pregnant women to eat at those chain places, how can you do that to your own child? Why not smoke a pack of cigarettes while you're at it.
Anyway, yeah, El Patio is great, is that guitar player still there on weekends? I worked at the Frontier, still go back for the huevos rancheros every time I'm in town. El Norteño rocks, Los Cuates has the best red chile anywhere except the Shed in Santa Fe, Garcia's has great breakfasts. Even if you don't like New Mexican, there's Scalo, the Artichoke Cafe, the place on top of Sandia Crest, lots of spots that serve actual food instead of the chemical-saturated, overpriced fast crap poison they serve at those Applebees type chains.

I've been to Albuquerque many times and love the city, and think that are lots of really unique things to do there. None of it's particularly glamorous, but it you're too lazy to do anything other than drive to your local wal-mart than you deserve to have a bad time. Shut the fuck up and try to enjoy the culture of the places you find yourself instead of bitching about them. Seriously. It just shows how little imagination you've got.

I don't have an opinion about her one way or another, but I used to live in Albuquerque and by far the best food I've ever had is there. She's obviously never been to Papa Felipe's or the Pink Adobe or any of the wonderful places in Old Town. These are the only people that know how to make a chili relleno.

There are are towns and cities like Santa Fe, Taos, and Tesuque that are filled with culture and history. There is White Sands, Carlsbad Caverns, and the Indian Pueblos.
