i think it's pathetic that a woman of oprah's supposed character endorses a man based on the simple fact that she gets all giddy around him and gets butterflies in her stomach. bitch is endorsing a man to run a country based on her stupid high school crush. she's no brighter than britney or lindsay……..

  2. Jess says – reply to this

    302

hell no. she isnt the one who will be president through those votes. if anything it makes me less likely to vote for hime that he isnt addressing women by himself

  3. imitalian says – reply to this

    303

how can she influence my vote when I don't even watch her show? She has the most BORING television show on. If you want to nap in the late afternoon, just put her show on.

As for her campaigning for Obama. Nobody will see her as voting as a woman, they'll see her as voting for a black….

    jmho

    304

Democrats have such a great choice: the mobster Clintons or the racist Obama. Progress? Change? Seriously?

  5. Kate says – reply to this

    305

    NOpe

  6. Rachel S. says – reply to this

    306

Yes, very much so. My beliefs are mainly republican steered, HOWEVER, I do not believe our next president stands a chance at being repub so therefore, we must choose between Barack and Hilary. I will NOT and I repeat WILL NOT support Hilary EVER. Barack Obama is who I would choose if we have to pick. Oprah campaigning for him just goes to show even more so how great of a person he SEEMS to be thus far.

  7. SoCalGal says – reply to this

    307

No, Oprah has no influence on my vote. I think that Hillary is far more experienced than Obama, she also knows what it's like to be in the White House, she knows that it takes action not just words to get things done. I like Obama, but he is just too green to be Pres.

  8. Jessica says – reply to this

    308

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm insulted that Perez has the audacity to even insinuate that women are so swayed by celebrity endorsements, PERIOD. I don't know a single person who votes based on what some Hollywood spawn says, male or female. I'm voting for Obama, Oprah or no Oprah.

  9. Mama says – reply to this

    309

FOR ALL OF YOU TRYING TO COMPARE HILLARY USING BILL….TO OBAMA USING OPRAH….

Bill is Hillary's HUSBAND. See the difference?! I think anybody running for president is going to receive help from their spouse. Is it Hill's fault that Bill is a former president? Geez people! Get a better argument!

  10. Chad says – reply to this

    310

    Fuck Oprah!

  11. Barbara says – reply to this

    311

It's a shame that people would even think of letting a celebrity influence anything that we as "non-celebrity's" would do or think..they are overpaid..for doing what? Acting, come on.. Oprah is and overpaid talk show host, that is all. That is why she has so much money. No one influences how I think or especially how I vote..do we realize that more American's vote for American Idol than who vote for President of the USA? Is this all that we as a country are? Wake up America..sometimes I think other countries laugh at us because most of us have our head in the sand.

  12. steph says – reply to this

    312

NONE! F Obama and Oprah. He's inexperienced, unqualified and a pussy. By that, I mean 1/3 of the time in the Illinois Legislature he voted "present" INSTEAD of yes or no…that's not ok a President has to make decisions on issues, not vote "present"

  13. Tracy says – reply to this

    313

Umm, NO! Please, that is insulting. It's like we can't think on our own we need Oprah tell us what to do. I am repulican anyway, so this has no effect on me anyway. GO REPUBLICANS!!!

  14. imitalian says – reply to this

    314

Re: Republican I am but I will vote for Hllary if push comes to shove – Huh? you can vote democrat OR republican in the general election. It's too late to change your party from republican to democrat. You have to do that at least 29 days before any election is forthcoming.

So, you can't do much as a republican in the primary race, but you can in the general election.

I'll vote for Hillary (I'm republican too) if she's the nominee. If she isn't, I'll just stick with a republican vote. I don't want to see Obama in office. We've had a mouthpiece for congress for 8 years now and that's what he'll be too…

  15. alana says – reply to this

    315

i love opera and i was already planning on voting for obama, and no its not because he is black he has alot of the same interests for our country as i do ;)

  16. Annie says – reply to this

    316

I am sure Oprah will actually have a great effect with this because a lot of people do worship her. I myself don't watch her show religously but I do support Obama but because of what he represents

  19. marvin says – reply to this

    319

    1. Perez, people read this shit. Do you edit this? Some of it is totally off-putting.
    2. Do you feel a bit useless with Amy Winehouse and Britney Spears getting help? So useless that in the depths of your "heart" you'd like to see Michelle Williams breakdown or Lindsay Lohan on a coke binge??

  20. jackie says – reply to this

    320

No, and actually it hurts his campaign. If he needs endorsement for votes it makes me wonder if he can stand on his own two feet. Plus, I am not that fond of Oprah anyway. I personally feel she is the antichrist. j/k…or am i? LOL! Vote Hillary! I've done my research and watched the debates and she is the one. Try again in 8years Barack cause you have a lot to offer, Hillary just has more at this time.

  21. sueann says – reply to this

    321

Hell no. … because she's not the one running for President! What is Obama gonna do as President when he has a tough sell with a trade package in South America? Send Oprah??? She's amazing at what she does. Love Oprah… as a talk show host. But Hillary Clinton has already devoted her life to public service and is ready to lead on the first day. She doesn't need O (or Ted or anyone else) to help her get to the white house. Her record speaks for itself! GO HILLARY!!!

  22. jess says – reply to this

    322

    hell no she doesn't

  23. stefystef says – reply to this

    323

No, she doesn't. In fact, the fact that she's endorsing Obama makes me run to Hillary.

Screw Oprah. And screw Obama-mania. It reminds me too much of Bush-mania.

  24. yogini says – reply to this

    324

No. I like Oprah. I like Obama. I can think for myself and I'm voting for Clinton.

    328

i wouldn't vote for obama if every celebrity in the world endorsed him.

he's not presidential, he's not experienced, and his plan for america won't work.

  29. Katie says – reply to this

    329

Oprah has no influence over my vote what so ever! Good for her backing a guy who used to be the lawyer for slum lords in Chicago.

  30. The Clock says – reply to this

    330

No way, She is only backing him because hes black. She has done NOTHING for Chicago and sent money to S. Africa. Cant stand the phony, and Obama has nothing but trouble for america , HIGHER TAXES right along with Tired Hilary

  31. heidi says – reply to this

    331

NO, she doesn't even know how to pump her own gas (on the Gale and Oprah road trip episode). Let alone tell us who she thinks should run this country..If she had real problems, and had to live a normal life and experienced daily life struggles, then MAYBE. She thinks she's amazing. Just cause you're rich and have the money to have your name posted on everything doesn't make you perfect. GO HILLARY! IT'S TIME FOR A WOMAN PRESIDENT!

  32. ashiash says – reply to this

    332

It's funny how she's never done this for past candidates in other elections…..but now that it's a black man, she's heavily campaigning and trying to sway peoples votes. She's SO pathetic. Plus, why would you want a President who has to sign on a big celebrity in order to influence your decision of whether or not he can turn the country around? If he can't do that on his own, then he should NOT be in power. Clearly either his communication skill are lacking, or he's not qualified.

  33. Coonie says – reply to this

    333

As others have already noted, it is an embarrassment that Obama is allowing Oprah to campaign for him. She may be smart, powerful, and extremely wealthy, but she is a nobody regarding real world politics. It looks bad that he needs his substitute "Mommy" on the road with him. His real Mommy passed away in 1995, and she was white.

  34. Hillary 2008!!!!! says – reply to this

    334

You know what's really funny! Oprah is supporting Obama because he is black. BOTTOM LINE!!!!! I live in Fl, and last tuesday, when I went to vote for HILLARY (and btw, our votes will count) their were droves of ignorant black people showing up to vote for OBAMA cause they were black, but couldn't!!!!!!! WHY? Because they were not even registered. They had NEVER voted in their entire lives, and now that a black man, with misguided dreams of black power is running, then come out of their government paid housing to vote.
    GO HILLARY 2008!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  35. Monica says – reply to this

    335

  37. Jessica says – reply to this

    337

    Re: Mama

Do you see Mrs. McCain speaking out the way Bill has? Or Mrs. Obama for that matter? None of the other candidates are UTILIZING their spouses the way Hillary Clinton is, because she KNOWS that Bill is her best asset. WHY do you think this supposedly strong, independent woman STAYED WITH A MAN WHO CHEATED ON HER REPEATEDLY? Bury your head in the sand all you'd like, but Bill is a TOOL for Hillary, a WEDGE, a STEP UP. She's using him in a far more shrewed manner than Obama is using Oprah.

  38. Ashley says – reply to this

    338

The only influence Oprah has on people is they'd think she'd kick the shit out of them or have someone killed.
    Fuck Oprah!

    VOTE HILLARY!

    339

    Absolutely not. Are you kidding?

She's obviously stumping for him because he is African American.

  47. its the economy stupid says – reply to this

    347

Why is Oprah considered to be so influential. Aren't most people at work when her show airs. Why would anyone vote for a candidate just because a talk show hosts supports him. I find it insulting. I have a mind of my own. I am for Hillary all the way. She will be good for the economy. GO HILLARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  48. fabmomof4 says – reply to this

    348

none for me. but, at least she's opening up people's eyes to vote. look what she did for reading! Barack has a message of hope and that follows what O preaches. monica lewinsky's ex-boyfriend's wife is a fake, cackling hyena…i DO NOT want her!

  49. FROST says – reply to this

    349

Oprah needs to mind her own business. Just because she has Money, does not give her the authority to try and influence the public.
It is a shame she has taken a stand against her own endeavors of empowering women by backing a male.
Why does Obama not send his wife out there to speak on his behalf? Oh yea she nows jack about the political landscape. So let's get Oprah a "Entertanment Exc." to be his show pony. Let's pay no mind to a former two term President!
    Wake up out there!!

Let's see–Oprah started the career of James Frey (A Million Little Pieces), Nate Bercous the interior designer with crappy taste, and Dr. Phil. so, I don't think she has the best judgment. Maybe she will give out gourmet chocolate at the voting booths.
    Fuck her.

  70. Team Hilary! says – reply to this

    370

It just feels like she's only endorsing him because he's black… she's always been about respect for women and now that there is a real chance to have a woman president, she turns her back on that. That fact makes me want to vote for Obama even less.

i've never commented perez's page before, cuz normally, i don't care but to come here to laugh. however, this being a serious topic - i just find it funny that all these people say that oprah has no influence over their vote, etc & then you say "go hillary" or some shit, but what you're failing to realize is that you're voting for a woman based solely on the fact that she is married to bill clinton. so obviously your vote is only influenced by someone other then the candidate. if hillary's last name was jones & she wasn't married to bill, none of you would even know who she is. it's exactly like bush jr. who is only president cuz of his dad. so all of you laughing at oprah, should really take a look at your candidate who is there by coattails only.

You people are so sad following what any of the celebs think. Yeah like you won't have some loser voting for Hillary because loser Brad Pitt said so. Maybe the US would be in better shape if we did not let a bunch of trained monkey actors tell us who to vote for. Yeah because behind those gates and body gurads they are really in any danger from anything!!!!

  79. Meg says – reply to this

It is sad that everybody just thinks they need endorsements and powerful celebs to help them get a vote, here is a shocking truth:
People can actually think for themselves!
In my case, I like Obama, but think Oprah should stay away from politics, so he is actually less likley to win my vote!

And WHO CARES if Oprah influences people? If they aren't going to be influenced by her, then maybe they are actually thinking for themselves and making an informed decision… and if they ARE influenced by her, it is because they agree with/do not agree with what she tends to believe in/say and that's a lot better than someone just blindly voting like half of America does!

  95. lucy says – reply to this

    395

NOPE. I love Oprah, but I rather have a woman president than a Muslim who will come to try to rule our country with his Alah beliefs. Don't vote for Obama!!! he's a Muslim and that's the last thing we need

  96. Fran says – reply to this

    396

Oprah does not influence anything for supporting Obama. I do admire Oprah alot. She has always been my hero. I would never vote for Obama(lack of experience) or Hillary (mean and also an idoit) I will vote for Romney. He may have millions, but he earned every penny! Good husband, father, grandfather with good morals. No dirt found on him! He at least knows about how to repair the economy and he is also very smart. Mcain amits he knows little about the ecomony and was 5th from the bottom of his graduating class! He is a good American, but not President material.

  97. Harpotinize says – reply to this

    397

Celebrities do not and will never influence my vote. duh.

  98. karen says – reply to this

    398

That really is a big mistake! I am voting for Hillary because she has more experience and because. Hillary doesn't need anyone to "help" her get votes. Be smart people, we need someone with experience not someone that makes us feel good when they open their mouth. Read- Get Involved- Hillary All The Way!

  99. SMC says – reply to this

    399

    Absolutely not.

  100. Midge says – reply to this

Oprah knows what it is like to work her butt off and get to where she is on her own merits. Not Hillary who thinks she is owed the Presidency just like Bush did.

It wasn't too long ago that Obama finished paying off his student loans. He knows how tough it is when you are not from a privilege background like the 28 Bush Clinton dynasty.

    Vote Obama for REAL Change!
