Jessica "Don't Call Me Latina" Alba has another dud on her hands!
The actress, who can't open a film, may have happy baby news but she won't be thrilled to learn that her new film, The Eye, has failed at the box office.
Despite major promotion from Alba, her movie is projected to only take in $12-15 million this weekend on 2436 screens in the U.S.
By comparison the new Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana 3D concert film is expected to take in a WHOPPING $25-30 million for Friday - Sunday. AND, that movie was only released on 683 screens in theaters across the country!
The Hannah Montana movie has set a new record for biggest opening of a concert film and a 3D movie.

I saw the Gin gwai (original The Eye) a couple of years ago and it was pretty damn good. This remake looks like a miscarriage of justice and a downright travesty. I hate Jessica Alba and her inability to act and her stupid face. She ruins movies.

This is sloppy reporting. The Miley Cyrus movie had raised ticket prices for all audience members. The children it was targeting paid raised prices instead of the normal reduced prices. Lionsgate projected the eye to make $12 million, if it makes over that it beat studio predictions. The Cyrus was projected by Disney to make $30 million. If The Eye makes $15 million it will have exceeded studio projections by 20%, if Cyrus makes $30 million it will have hit studio projections.

Its all in the way the commercial is made, just like television shows. If you see a commercial for it and it looks stupid then you are less likely to watch it, but if the commercial looks awesome, a lot of people will tune in. Then the ones that have awesome commercials usually suck!

My friend and I wanted to go see the Hannah Montana movie because of the Jonas Brothers, but figured it wasn't worth the money and torture just to see the three guys. Instead, we went to The Eye. Haha. It's actually pretty good, I'd recommend it.
