As a public health major I believe there is a way to make universal healthcare work but this woman and no other current model is cost effective or that bennificial to anyone. Canadians who have money are coming to the US to recieve healthcare everyday because for one canadian doctors are only paid a certain amount of money no matter what…if you want to be a doctor and you have 100's of thousands of dollars in school loans you are not going to want to practice in Canada. So there is going to be less and less highly specialized and skilled doctors that are wanting to practice. Also since everyone has healthcare coverage you could wait months and months to see your doctor. Even if you have a life threatening illness. Besides all this the cost of this universal coverage that Hillary wants to put in place is going to cost BIG TIME and who do you think is going to pay for it??? Don't vote for her just because she has a universal health plan, there is not a universal model that has been developed that is worth it at this point.

Universal Healthcare is an awful idea. Look at Canada– they have universal health care. If that becomes adopted by the US, we will all have to wait months for major surgeries and to see our doctors. There will be no ER visits under 24 hours. Everything will be jacked up.
People in this country need to get their lazy asses off their couches and WORK, dammit! I am sick and tired of the government giving our hard-earned money to low-lifes and welfare mommies who are too lazy to work for themselves. Why give everyone free healthcare too? It's absurd!

Perez, Hillary Clinton's plan is simply Bill's failed plan from the 90's that ended up ruining the rest of his time in office. It was Bill's attempt at getting Universal Healthcare that made flu vaccines impossible to come by a decade ago. Hillary has no idea what she's talking about when it comes to healthcare, and the US citizens don't want to have healthcare like Canada! Universal Healthcare makes things inefficient and forces people who are poor to buy insurance whether they can afford it or not!!
Take it from me, I'm a college student in New York and we are FORCED to pay nearly $600 or more a semester to buy the governments insurance if we want to attend the state's schools!! It's completely ludicrous and it's really hard to come up with and extra $1,200 a year when I never need to see the doctor or go to the hospital, and if I get a cold or need pencilin I can just go to health services on campus for free.
DON'T LET HILLARY FOOL YOU, she'll ruin this country worse than Bush already has AND she supports the war in iraq.

Hillary strikes me as one of these quick talking - chuck so much info at you real fast - sorta person - it all sounds good, but when you think about it overall there is a lot of give with one hand, take with the other. You've been told you will have universal healthcare free to all, you've been told you won't be charged interest on mortgages for 5 years, you've been told you can earn up to $10,000 a year doing service as a student. Ok - great.

Except, you have to pay healthcare insurance or pay fines, you can earn $10,000 a year as a student (doing who knows how much work?) doing public service, which will raise your income, therefore also your taxes and lower your health insurance subsidies, and goodness knows how she will make it so every lender to every homeowner does not charge interest on home loans for 5 years (but the interest will still accrue and compound), but at least there's a chance she will be out of office before that blows up in ya face innit?

Or you can go with a pragmatic approach from Obama. Cover your kids for health insurance but choose to cover yourself if you can afford to. Get $4000 straight off your student fees per year for some community service. Those with mortgages from predatory lenders have the mortgage brought by the Government who provides a low and stable interest rate. Your choice!

People with money in Canada and other European countries are coming to the US to be treated because of the waiting periods (as well as other reasons) in their country. Do yourself some good and research it…These systems have very serious flaws and there is no universal health care coverage in effect that is working the way it should.

Obama's plan requires companies to lower premiums so that EVERYONE can AFFORD to buy health insurance - that's the difference. the might not REQUIRE it the way Hillary does, thus making it not "universal" in a sense. But he's making it affordable, which is why so many people are uninsured in this country.
Neither of them are proposing government run healthcare - which is what Canada and Eruope have - they both want private corps. to run it, so things would be the same as they are now.

Obama's plan will actually raise rates for those who do pay because we will still be covering those who opt not to get insurance at all. The non issurance holders are a main reason why current rates are so high. Health Care has no hope of becoming reasonable until all participate. Hillary's plan is the same as all the Senators get and you know they take care of themselves. You have options by the 100's including keeping whjat you already have. Hillary's plan also does much more to curb the cost related to the precripion drug over cost. You should go to both canidates web sites and actually compare the plans, how they are going to pay for them and truly figure out what is best. Being informed is a good thing.
Hillary's health care plan can't stand up to the Republicans. It's going to be labeled SOCIALIZED MEDICINE and will never be able to get the Republican support any health care plan is going to need in order to be passed. Obama's plan ALREADY has bi-partisan support. Obama is not only electable, he's going to get much needed legislation passed when he's in the white house because he can bring democrats AND republicans to the table.

Number one…. economists who have looked at her plan say it can't work. There are an extra 15 billion in costs that she can't cover!! Meaning the subsidies she says the poor will receive to help cover the cost won't be there. So poor people will be forced, by law, to have insurance when they can't afford it. Hundreds will be taken out of their paychecks! I thought we wanted to help the lower and middle classes! There is indeed talk of a Mccain-Huckabee ticket for the Republicans. Many Republicans feel that Mccain is too moderate, so Huckabee will mollify their concerns greatly. I read a story that a woman was having quadruplets in a big city in Canada and had to cross the border in a smaller Montana town, because the healthcare system in Canada could'nt handle the situation. But, a small town in USA did have the proper equipment and knowledge to handle it.

Yeah…Obama's health plan is much better than Hillary's. Forcing people to buy health insurance is not the way to go about it. Obama's plan is to make it affordable for everyone. Hillary may want universal health care, but forcing people to buy health care that may or may not be cheaper than it is right now isn't right. Under her plan, only the poorest people would receive the taxpayer's dollars to help them pay for a portion of their coverage, and everyone else who is deemed "eligible to pay" would be required to pay full price, whether they could truly afford it or not. Obama would work to lower prices so everyone has the ability to afford it without mandating that everyone purchase insurance.

Obama says you have the option of being covered, but you still have to pay back premiums if you have to go to the hospital for the amount of months you didn't pay. He just prolongs the payment and it will be a nasty one if you are ever admitted to the hospital.

I didn't knew there is rumors that say that you have to wait for months for having surgery in Europe, but truely believe me that is not true i experienced it: my mom had surgery 2 month ago,she had within 48 hours, i have a dear friend who had the infortune to have breast cancer at 25 she was taken in great care for free and then again immediatly, i had surgery few years ago then again it was done within 24 hours… so I don't know where these rumors come from.. but they are not true!!! i live here and i experienced it!

Oh and whoever said it took a year to get an MRI is talking crap. They have deadlines such as when you are put on a waiting list for certain things it must be under a certain amount of time. I think it's 6 weeks for an MRI.
TRUE there are the exceptions who have to wait up to a year. But the majority of people are saw/treated within a few months.
AND, it is TOTAL bull that you need to wait 24hours in the ER. The average is about 3 or 4 hours depending on what is wrong with you of course. I have not even heard of anyone ever being there for that long.
