Hillary Remains The Frontrunner

Filed under: Politik > Barack Obama > Hillary Clinton > John McCain

wennbarackhill.jpg

While it was an easy win for John McCain in the Republican presidential primaries, the Democratic race was neck and neck.

However, Hillary Clinton took home more delegates on Super Tuesday and she goes in to the upcoming primaries with the advantage.

Should be an interesting and heated race to the finish!

BULLSHIT, BULLSHIT, BULLSHIT PEREZ! THIS IS AN OUTRIGHT LIE AND YOU KNOW IT. OBAMA TOOK HOME THE MOST DELEGATES LAST NIGHT…EVEN FOX NEWS, CNN, MSNBC REPORTED THAT. SHAME ON YOU FOR LYING TO YOUR READERS AND TRYING TO MISGUIDE THEM.

Those of you who say you'd rather have McCain than Obama are idiots! McCain is like Bush III. He will keep us in Iraq forever, and rack up more debt! The republican party (in its pure form) is great! Smaller government, less taxes, personal responsibility, ect, but McCain is not a REAL republican. I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS KIND OF RACISM STILL EXISTS! It's so sad for our country!

Yeah, me either… he's not real people and anyone who would publicy denounce Hillary in an interview is not to be trusted he's tacky (and has CIGS BLUELIP YES, LOOK AT HIS LIPS PEOPLE…) PLUS… don't forget that he wants to go against the norm and not wear the american flag! and don't forget he wants to be above the rest and not put his hand on his heart during the pledge!!! 15. Jen says – reply to this

    515

Latest poll results show Obama with a 4-point lead over Hilary. Which isn't much, but it just goes to show that Perez is a lying asswipe. There IS no clear frontrunner. Though it should obviously be Obama.

  16. DUH says – reply to this

    516

Hillary is in the lead at the moment with 811 delegates over Baracks 720. YES there are more primary elections but AT THE MOMENT she is the FRONTRUNNER.

    DUH people

  17. OFFICIAL COUNT IS NOT DONE says – reply to this

    517

We dont yet know officially who won more delegates, as they have been so close in number. What we do know: Obama won more states, Clinton won more votes. Clinton still in lead with total delegates:

    HILLARY: 811 delegates
    .
    ..
    .
    OBAMA: 720 delegates
    .
    ..
    .

We have to wait a bit longer for full delegate tally from last night, but right now I believe they're around 7-9 delegates apart.

  18. Obama Gaining FAST!!! says – reply to this

    518

Actually, Hillary did very poorly, especially considering that she won both New York and California. The delegate count was nearly evenly split with Obama winning 13 states to Hillary's 8.
Hillary and her supporters expected her to trounce Obama and become the CLEAR winner for the nomination on Super Tuesday. IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!!!
If anything, the race is MUCH tighter than before. It's obvious to even the most casual observer that voters are trying to send the Democratic Party a message about establishment politics and "business as usual." The question is, "Will they listen?"
And btw, Perez, I'm thrilled to see you blogging about serious topics that effect us all. Readers who complain about "yucky politics" should limit themselves to posts about Britney, Paris, etc.
But, please, if you're going to blog about politics, stick to the facts and don't allow personal bias to cloud your reporting. Hillary may have ONCE been the "frontrunner," but NOT ANYMORE! Obama is closer than ever to actually WINNING the Democratic nomination.

  19. Wrongperez says – reply to this

    519

HILLARY WILL NOT BRING US UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE! SHE WILL DUMP THE ISSUE ONCE YOU ELECT HER! DON'T BE SO STUPID! SHE DID IT WHEN HER HUSBAND RAN, AND SHE'LL DO IT AGAIN IF YOU ELECT HER!! SHE VOTED FOR THE WAR IN IRAQ! SHE IS NOT THE BEST CANDIDATE!

LATINOS: Obama's policies seem to favor Latinos. His immigration policy will give ALL illegal immigrants a path to legal citizenship! He wants to give aliens driver's licenses. I heard some of them say they'd vote republican over Obama. I want to tell them, Republicans want to DEPORT a large number of illegal immigrants! BE SMART!! DO WHAT'S BEST FOR YOU!

  20. Matt says – reply to this

    520

Check the news, this story is incorrect. Obama, not Clinton, is the frontrunner with the most states, and the most delegates. Please change your story to accurately reflect reality.

  21. judgeyall says – reply to this

    521

Perez… please stop reporting politics. Barack has more delegates, and I doubt you will post a correction. Don't dabble unless you are serious.

  22. Molested by Michael says – reply to this

    522

Obama has a handful more delegates than Hillary at this point, but when you add in the super delegates, which is what any reliable news organization should do, Hillary has more. These super delegates will decide who will get the nomination not the popular vote. So, in that sense Perez is actually right on the money.

  23. amb says – reply to this

Barack Obama is the child of a radical, conservative Muslim father. Do not tell me that "Oh, his mother was an Atheist, so he's fine" bullshit. If you had any idea of the Muslim religion, you would actually know that they would NEVER marry an Atheist. Obama joined a Church when he began his political career. Wonder why….

Any of you who claim he's not a liar or the product of radical parents, stfu, and do your fucking research. We've had enough of radicals in this country.

    Go Hillary!

  33. Sam says – reply to this

    533

Let the spin machine begin: Now Obama is saying that if Clinton gets the nomination that the Republicans will have a load of dirt on her and she won't get the vote. OK so let me make up my mind by letting scare tactics force me into a vote. No thank you.. and if you don't think that they have a load of dirt on Obama just wait… I can hear it now already: his former church, muslim, drugs etc. etc. DO NOT let anyone scare you into making your choice as to who you want to elect to run this country. Obama is splitting the Democratic party already… his wife said she does not know if she would support Clinton and Bill Clinton said he would support whomever gets the nomination. Way to support your party there. I guess if its Clinton Vs. McCain she would vote for McCain.. nice. Vote for the person that is supposed to be the complete opposite of your values.

Oprah actually hurt the Obama campaign by making this a race issue. She is just as racist as those white folks down south. If she represents women and their issues then why didn't she have the first viable woman candidate for the presidency on her show? She could have still supported Obama and did that. She obviously chose race over gender, which she has the right to do. Obama also talks about no money from lobbists, but he has lobbists as his top advisers on his campaign and won't let the media talk to them. He is a politician just like the rest of them who speaks very well but has no substance. I am probably one of only a handful of young first time voters in our school who is voting for Hillary, not because she is cool and has great oratory skills but because she is better on the issues we have to face due to the incompetence and failure of the Bush administration. So you go Hillary!

  38. tarheel says – reply to this

for god sake read the results. she DID NOT WIN more delgates than Obama last nite. She has more super delegates which up her total. They're not voted on. I mean, i know you prefer her (which i cannot FATHOM) but at least get your facts right!!

  41. Pannell says – reply to this

    541

I think Perez is doing fuzzy math. Billary has more delegates but only because of superdelegates who do NOT represent the people. Obama has more pledged delegates. Is this a propaganda site for Billary? What gives?Be accurate..

  42. Smartypants says – reply to this

    542

Yes, you can tell by the appeal to emotion of Hillary supporters what THEY vote with. Its not their heads. Which is a good thing also. Because they lack brains and without brains one cant make an informed decision.

It was proven that Obama appeals to HIGHLY EDUCATED people. Its a GOOD thing that Perez is rooting for Hillary. It means he's not one of 'us'. Phew!

If Hillary wins the Democratic nomination, it only means that most Democrats are stupid. So when the Republicans win, it will be the fault of the stupid Dems.

    Duh!

    547

How have you not corrected this yet? Obama is now the projected leader in delegates!

    YES WE CAN!

It also leaked out that Hillary accepted more money from Lobbyists than all of the republicans put together. Some one is going to have some serious favors to pay back if they get in office.

  48. really? says – reply to this

    548

Perez - I love ya, but it's irresponsible to declare victory for Hillary and call her the front runner. Winning 15 more delegates than Obama yesterday (when there were over 1100 at stake) is hardly a decisive win, and I have not heard one commentator, pundit or reporter say that there is any clear front-runner for the democrats; actually it's the opposite - they're saying it's even closer than before!

  49. Don't Trust Obama says – reply to this

    549

Hillary won the popular vote. She won the delegate-rich states.
The young people voting for Obama are unreliable and are unlikely to continue the support for long because it is based on purely shallow and superficial reasons.
Obama has NO chance against McCain.

  50. Lisa says – reply to this

    557

Hillary didn't win more delegates, she actually got fewer than Obama and Obama won more states. You can back a candidate, but at least report the truth. Hillary was supposed to deliver her "knock out" blow yesterday and she basically lost or tied. Obama is way better positioned in the remaining primaries and has a lot better funding than her. Hillary is a fraud and her "experience" slogan is laughable, i wish people would do their homeword and realize Obama represents a truth and vision we just won't get with another Clinton in office. Nice democracy btw, Clinton and Bush for the last 20 years? come on people it's time for an actual change and that doesn't come from a candidate who voted for the war and has more Washington baggage than anyone. Go Obama!

Ok.. I'm like WTF.. why is everyone coming up with different delegate numbers… It depends on where you are getting your news from.. some are speculating as to where the delegates will go… Just check out ABC news Clinton 1038 and Obama 940
So just sit tight, calm down, and wait for the one who gets 2025 …. the magic number.

  60. Lynn says – reply to this

    560

You might want to edit this. Obama won more states AND took home more delegates yesterday. She also made a contribution to her own campaign because of lack of meeting fundraising goals. So its not really true that she has the "advantage". At best, she and Obama are dead even, at worst (for you!) Obama has the advantage of delegates, momentum, and cash.

    Go Obama!!

I have never been do disappointed in the Democratic party as I am today. That so many of the democrats truly ARE retarded disheartens me to no end. Obama is just as bad as bush - someone with no experience who will lead our country further into crisis. I can already see part of the crisis obama will lead us into occurring today…. isn't ANYONE concerned that with Hillary, latinos are favoring her, but not ALL voting for her… but with obama… almost ALL blacks are voting for him? That's not concern about POLITICS - that is RACIAL DIVISION. This race is going to have horrible ramifications on the democratic party… and it is because of OBAMA that it will. If the democratic party has become only the 'black party', I will be changing my affiliation to Independent… because I don't think ANY party should be about only one race - they should ALL be about EVERY race. NO RACE should ONLY vote 'their race'. Hispanics aren't! They are favoring Clinton because the Clintons have always worked for equal rights - they have a proven track record. But blacks ARE like 90% voting ONLY black… despite knowing how much the Clintons did for them. What a stab in the back. Did all hispanics/latinos vote for Richardson? NOT. Or he would still be in the race. THEY WENT WITH OVERALL EXPERIENCE and the candidate they KNEW had already DONE more for them!!

You may want to retract that comment now! The Tuesday night results were ACTUALLY:
    Obama - 785
    Clinton - 777.

And Obama took 13 states to Clinton's 8.

Oh, and one more thing….Billiary is out of money!

  66. heidi says – reply to this

Clinton having to loan her own campaign five million dollars? I hate to say it, but if she can't even manage her campaign's budget, how on God's earth is she going to manage the country's finances?

This is a sure sign that Clinton is on the ropes already, and that she is not solvent enough to last for the long haul. In debt already and this is only the democratic primary — and we're only halfway through at that. Do we even have to ask ourselves why voters want a change in this election?

Let's clear out this mess in Washington and reset the computer that runs this country. This financial slip-shod operation has gone on long enough!

She did not fucker! get your fuckin facts right!!! Obama has the most delegates and won the most states. fuck hilary!

    583

That's patently false. In fact, Barack Obama took home nine more delegates than Hillary.

    584

How do you figure she has an advantage? She has less money and less momentum than Obama. Plus, Obama came out with more states and more pledged delegates. Clinton has more superdelegates at this time… but that could very change. The longer Obama has on the campaign trail the worse things will get for Hill.

get your facts right idiot, he won more states and more delegates than her. and for a gay man, it's odd you picked someone running on "experience" rather than change. They're both for civil unions, but Barack is definitely the better candidate. At least he doesn't take money from lobbyists unlike some other people with *ahem* 35 years of "experience"

    YAY Hillary!
I wish you had endorsed her earlier, Perez.
And who ARE these people on here who don't know Hillary is ahead in delegates? And why are they even allowed to vote?!

After all the hot air blown by the corporate media pundits is done, the fact still stands that, of all the issues most important to voters who voted Tuesday, exit polls showed the economy was No. 1 and the war was No. 2 for Democrats. (The economy was also No. 1 for Republicans, for that matter.)

Sen. Hillary Clinton polled the best for the economy. She has experience, accomplishments and concrete plans for the future. Junior Sen. Barack Obama has soaring rhetoric, but you can't eat soaring rhetoric.

For all the people say Obama won more states, it means NOTHING.
Have you noticed the size of the states? Each individual county in California is bigger than the states he won.
Clinton won California, New York, New Jersey! That's what matters.
The states Obama won are Republican states which, if he miraclously gets nominated, he lose hugely to McCain.

Obama had the majority of delegates! He had four more than Hilary! Get your facts straight Perez.

IF Hillary gets the nomination, and I am hoping that plastic, self-serving witch won't, it will be very interesting to see what surprises the Republicans have for her. We'll see how many times she'll say "I don't remember" then. I'd like to see her cry REAL tears. I still believe she's deeper in the Foster "suicide" than anyone knows….. yet. I have no problem with a woman president, but not THAT woman.

Actually, it's not confirmed what the delegate take from Super Tuesday was yet. It is likely that in terms of earned delegates since the race started, Obama is still ahead. Hillary is currently ahead in the number of super-delegates (her buddies), but she accrued many of those before the primary race started.

    593

Hey Hmmm - big problem with you making a big deal out of Hillary winning NJ, NY and CA - they are blue states anyway - and the only thing that could come anywhere near to threatening them remaining blue states would be large amounts of Independents voting for the Republicans. As it so happens, in all of those big states, Obama won the Independent vote. Hillary really showed nothing more than the majority of support from hardcore Democrats. That's not what is important for winning in November. Of interest is the large margins Obama won by in red states, some of which decidedly did not vote for McCain on the Republican side - that opens a very good opportunity for swinging those states toward Obama - who is generally well liked by Independents and moderate Republicans. And before you conclude that Hillary would absorb Obama's voting base - she won't mobilize the black community, youth and independents like Obama can.

PS. That Perez doesn't seem to have even acknowledged the 'Yes We Can' song by Will-i-Am and other celebs basically confirms to me that his very one-sided reporting favoring Clinton equates to - brought by Clinton.

Hillary is NOT the front-runner you agent of deception.

Hillary won less states, less delegates and just had to donate $5M to her own campaign while Barack is setting records raising money.

God, you're dumb. It's scary to think that people actually listen to you.

how many days old is this article, I mean if you want to call this an article….maybe you should work on getting the facts about our nations' future right instead of looking sooooo much into what color of eyeshadow paris is wearing….
this is courtesy of the new york times, and I quote:
"Mr. Obama won nine while Hillary Rodham Clinton won four and is ahead in the fifth."
more states won = better chance of getting democratic nom. and it shows more diversity….
the only, I mean o-n-l-y reasons you could say she won more delegates are california and new york (her home state)….wow….
