Authorities said Brit Brit was headed home before seeking additional treatments.

For those that can't figure it out. She was put in a psych ward for GOOD REASON. This is a life-long illness she has, and can only get better unless she's continuous getting therapy and meds. You do not get "cured" in a week.
That being said, she's 26. There's only so much you can do to keep someone in a psych ward. Unless she's COMPLETELY demented (seriously) they cannot force someone to stay in a ward.
Brit is somewhat to blame here. She (and perhaps her family) still "don't get it". This is serious. I hope she continues her therapy - out of LA.
