We still can't believe Amy Winehouse lost Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards to Herbie Fucking Hancock.
What a joke!
Our Wino was robbed, damnit. But, she was the night's big winner.
Amy was the talk of Los Angeles at all the Grammy after-parties.
We had a lot of fun at the Warner Bros partee downtown and a good time as well at the Entertainment Weekly / Island Def Jam soiree in West Hollywood.
Along the way, we ran into some of our favorite ladies.

You guys DO know that Perez was using hyperbole (that is, a figure of speech using exaggeration for emphasis)? He was expressing the fact that, while Herbie Hancock is extremely talented and has paid his dues, he's just not as relevant today as he once was. I love Herbie, but the album for which he won was far from his best, and I think it's rather insulting to give him a Grammy just because the voters felt guilty for not rewarding his better work.
By the way, I think people need to lay off of Amy for a while. She was a depressed addict who made some really stupid decisions, but she IS getting help now, and seems to be progressing well. If she starts up with the drus again after finishing rehab, criticize the hell out of her, but give her a chance for now!

My my, looks like a lot of folks are showing how truly ignorant they are about what makes a music legend most, particularly one of the great jazz pianists and composers of all time. Are any of you even aware that Hancock compositions are taught as part of technical curriculum in leading music institutions throughout the entire WORLD? Granted, Winehouse is a very talented young lady, who actually has(or had) good jazz chops for someone her age (when she first began). However, no matter how much we love and enjoy her bringing something fresh to the American music scene she's got a long way to go before she can take her place shoulder to shoulder with the greats of jazz, Mr. Hancock himself included.
