We still can't believe Amy Winehouse lost Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards to Herbie Fucking Hancock.
What a joke!
Our Wino was robbed, damnit. But, she was the night's big winner.
Amy was the talk of Los Angeles at all the Grammy after-parties.
We had a lot of fun at the Warner Bros partee downtown and a good time as well at the Entertainment Weekly / Island Def Jam soiree in West Hollywood.
Along the way, we ran into some of our favorite ladies.

Perez, obviously there is a reason why these people pick the awards and not you. I would hope that this conflict of opinion between you and the awards committee would humble you, however, nothing seems capable of that. Herbie Hancock is perhaps the most accomplished modern musician still around today and it is a shame to see you refer to him as, "Herbie Fucking Hancock." You really should educate yourself before opening up like that. (BTW, I know you like to ACT like you know shit about music, but just because you have a site that can launch someone's career does not make you the authority on musical integrity. You should look up Frank Zappa's definition of rock journalism.) Thanks for the hours of entertainment though, at least you're good for something!

I agree Amy was robbed and everyone knows it. Back to Black was truly an awesome, real, soulful, heartfelt and a meaningful piece of work. Not a "manufactured" didly or pay per word song….
But if Amy had to lose to somebody, Hancock was a good choice, for no other reason then b/c he has been around forever, is jazzy and he has in the past done some amazing work.

She didn't get robbed, she won other grammys! Maybe Herbie Hancock deserved it, just because his jazz album isn't one of your new plugs on your site doesn't mean it's not worthy of accolades. There were a lot of great nominees in categories with Amy, and she won others.

I wish there was a music award for people who actually write and perform their own music, live, all the time. My Gosh, show some respect. Herbie Hancock and Joni Mitchell have been around for a long time, and have more talent in their little fingers than most of those people have in their whole bodies. Lose with some grace. Herbie Hancock is a well respected member of the music community. Amy Winehouse is a talented, and troubled girl right now.. If she has staying power, she'll win one day. Well, so I finally get to hear Amy Winehouse and have to say I was extremely underwhelmed. So many female vocalists are better than she is. Only thing I can figure is she's famous because she's not attractive to begin with and has taken extreme efforts to look way more unattractive than she already is (bad hair, bad makeup, ugly tatoos, heroin anorexia, bad outfits). Seeing as, with the exception of the anorexia part, that could be a pretty good description of Perez, I can see why he likes her.
Clearly you don't know jack about music if your list of musical highlights didn't include the outstanding Rhapsody in Blue performance. Joni Mitchell and Herbie Hancock's efforts on his album are amazing MUSIC, not media hype. Such a delight that the best musician won. Even Kanye looked kind of happy about it.

Perez, you need to expand your musical choices beyond mainstream. Yes, Amy Winhouse's CD was great but if you really listen to Herbie's it is truly inspirational. This man has produced 51 albums and has collaborated with over 150 artists including Miles Davis, Quincy Jones and Jackie McLean… To top it all off, he is an Academy Award Winner too. Go him!

Someone said Amy should have won because she was more "known" in 2007. Unfortunately she was more known for her troubled life which overshadowed her music. Did Perez talk more about her music or about her drug use and rehab? Amy's life is ideal tabloid fodder. A talented drug addict with a crazy look and wild life. I cried when Paramore didn't win best new artist. They are an amazing group of kids who are completely honest in their music and in their lives. They have worked so hard to get where they are; non-stop touring, constantly keeping in contact with fans. I don't think that is something that Wino does.
