We still can't believe Amy Winehouse lost Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards to Herbie Fucking Hancock.
What a joke!
Our Wino was robbed, damnit. But, she was the night's big winner.
Amy was the talk of Los Angeles at all the Grammy after-parties.
We had a lot of fun at the Warner Bros partee downtown and a good time as well at the Entertainment Weekly / Island Def Jam soiree in West Hollywood.
Along the way, we ran into some of our favorite ladies.

I have not heard Herbie Hancock's album, but have heard Winehouses' album. Her album was incredible — so was very surprised that she didnt win. So of all the albums I have heard out of the 5 nominated, I definitely prefered Amy's. This will now probably get me out to purchase Herbie's.
What I dont understand is why people on here are defending Herbie's win so much because he is a legend, etc., and others are bashing Amy because of her drug problems. Face it, just because you are a legend, that shouldn't be the reason why you won the award. Nor should you be disqualified because of your behavior. The award should be given STRICTLY based on the quality of the particular CD being judged — nothing else.
This crap happens all the time at all the awards shows. People are awarded wins because of sentimental reasons or because of life-time achievements. It is particularly bad at the Oscars, because quite often someone will win an award because they should have won the previously time they were nominated and again, not because of the quality of that particular performance.
I can appreciate Herbie's fans sticking up for him — that is great! But I hope you are standing behind his win because this album was great and deserved to win, not because of his entire body of work or what he has done in the past. That should be the basis of why anyone wins a Grammy award, or any other entertainment award.

I've always loved edgy rock and R&B, it's just my thing. But years ago, I went to see John Mclaughlin at a club in Chicagco. While outside smoking, and speaking to a fellow audiophile, I heard probably the most appropriate statement describing jazz music: "Jazz, what ELSE is THERE?"
Seems like American music can no longer be appreciated unless there's a tarted-up stripper or wannabe gangsta attached to it. It's all about appearance that has nothing to do with talent these days.
