Yes, everyone is entitled to an opinion but I would hope that when you do decide to share your two cents that it would come from a place of logic…Ms. Cole has every right to say something as she is 1) a musician whether you choose to acknowledge it or not and 2) a former addict. Her comments were in no way meant to deride Ms. Whinehouse but in essence to say that she needs to embrace the gift that she has been given and not take it for granted as she has been…As a public figure, unfortunately, there is no real privacy. One must be conscience of the message that you are placing out…There is no doubt that Ms. Whinehouse has an amazing voice and that the Grammys as with an other type of awards show is meant to honor a person for their talent, contribution, etc..; however, one cannot help but to feel that she was undeserving of all those awards…True, there are many artists who came before Ms. Whinehouse that had drug problems; however, much more was done to shadow it. If Ms. Whinehouse murdered someone, was a sexual or physical abuser, would you still have her back???Right now, it seems that Ms. Whinehouse is just a glorified addict…

Amy's album was recorded and released BEFORE she spiraled into a heavy drug addiction. The talent is there. Unfortunately, some people are just unable to cope with the lifestyle that comes with being famous. Amy is still talented, she is in treatment and hopefully the 5 awards will help her to realize that there is SO much more to life than drugs and partying.
Amy isn't getting "glory" out of being a drug addict…the awards are given for her success in the music industry. I think she DOES work very hard, or did when the album was recorded. She just happened to fall into addiction. I think watching Amy would make anything think twice about using drugs, she has almost lost everything because of it, but that doesn't mean the current album shouldn't be recognized. The Grammy voters vote based on talent and not personality or what's in the tabloids. Amy Winehouse released a great album with some great tunes and that is all that should be relevant as far as the Grammy awards go. Amy isn't a Grammy winner because she is or isn't a drug addict. She's a Grammy winner because people loved her album and the music she created. So she has in fact been rewarded for her "craft" and it has nothing to do with her personal life.

Dear Ms. Cole: I would like to inform you that Amy Winehouse wrote all of her songs and was able to put out a remarkable album at a very young age. She has had some drug problems, as you have had in the past. Many artists are known to have similar problems. I think that Amy did a fantastic job with her music and album and deserved all of her Grammys. Not very many people could accomplish so much at such a young age. I know I sure couldn't. Even if I my father was Nat King Cole.
