Inside The Mind Of An "Artist"

Ticket sales for Avril Lavigne's upcoming tour are sluggish, to put it mildly. So, the singer and "songwriter" held a press conference to try and drum up interest in her new outing.
Here are some of the HIGHlights:
"My inspiration for this record, a lot of it came from the live show and knowing what kind of songs I wanted to play live. I wanted to play fast, fun songs. I love playing songs like Sk8er Boi onstage because the crowd just reacts, and I love it when everyone is freaking out and jumping.
My last record, Under My Skin, was pretty mid-tempo and darker, so every song was like bringing down the audience. So I was just wanted to rock, which is why I made a very up-tempo record.
The show is going to be very upbeat and the production will be bigger in the sense of dancers during a couple of songs, LED screens, a pink-sparkled drum kit and flags. Over time, I've sort of learned how I need to be on stage, and I'm more confident. It's just more dynamic, brighter and more colorful. I'm excited about it because I've been working on the show for a very long time now. And it's just going to be really fun to finally go play."

A few years ago, I went to the mall by my house. When I went inside there were a lot of tween and teen girls there. My friend called me right as I was walking in to tell me Avril was doing a concert at the mall.
I live in a suburb of Houston– Katy, Texas. She played @ Katy Mills Mall.
There were probably like 200 people watching the free concert in the food court.
It was bizarre.
She sounded good, though, but it was still strange because she was so mainstream — figured she wouldn't lower herself to playing at malls.
It's so sad when these flash-in-the-pan "artists" don't know when it's time to scoop up their millions and go their merry ways. Honestly, this girl was relevant for - what? - 30 seconds?
I have to say that I brought my two girls to her concert in Omaha and left after about 4 or 5 songs. It was not very good. She did break down on stage crying, it was the night of the Westroads shootings in Omaha. It was nice to see her put herself out there on stage in our momont of pain. So I give her credit for that!
I love how avril always makes it sound like shes the one calling the shots and makind the decisions…… Kinda like she makes it sound like she writes the songs too…. yeh right avril… we beleive you…. keep making thoes good decisons and writing thoes songs with deep meaning…. people are just dying to buy tickets to see you.

I saw Avirl Perform live in Canada once. SHe sucked the opening act BUTCH WALKER was a hell of a lot better. She came out sang half ass while he rocked and worked it. I wouldn't see one of her shows again. Our regret was not getting to see the whole opening act, and having to stay for Avirls.
