While he's rotting in jail, Lane Garrison is trying to drum up some publicity.
He can't be forgotten!
The former Prison Break actor, whose drunk driving car crash resulted in the death of a teenager, wrote this letter to Access Hollywood about his time behind bars.
He says:
“Greetings and Happy New Year to you and everyone at Access Hollywood from Donovan State Prison. Never did I think I would be saying the words ‘happy & prison’ in the same sentence and not be on a set. It’s pure irony coming from the show and now living the real deal. It’s surreal and mind-blowing to say the least.
Just this past Monday they let a group of inmates watch the season premiere of Prison Break. It felt like an out of body experience as I stood around a crowd of tattooed felons watching Michael Scofield try to escape … all of us longing to be free as well!
This has been the hardest year of my life. I hope people, young and old, are learning from my mistakes and what can happen when you drink and drive. I have much to say about the pain I’ve felt and seen inside of prison. It has been eye-opening and a harrowing experience.”

His "victim" was his equally drunk friend who made his own decision to get in a car with a drunk driver. Lane deserves his prison time, but let's not pretend that the death was 100% his fault. If his friend had taken a cab home he wouldn't be dead.

Prison is really bad. It's a life of fear and depression, cramped into cells that are too hot or too cold, and how do you sleep with noise going on all day and all night. But the constant threat and fear are the worst thing, and the meanest bullies rule. Some prisoners deserve prison, some are in on bum raps and false accusations, and some like Lane Garrison are punished severely for a stupid mistake.

While his message should come across positively as far as him promoting sober driving, I love how the poor kid he killed isn't mentioned. If you get in a car with someone you know is drunk and it ends up killing or injuring you then you are just as responsible as the drunk who was driving. This kid absolutely knew Lane was drunk because he'd been drinking with him all night. He is as responsible for his death as Lane. Sad but true. It's sad all around, but as far as I'm concerned at least Lane learned his lesson by killing somebody who made an equally bad choice as opposed to somebody who was completely innocent.

my friend was the boy killed by lane garrison. for all of you who think he is suffering in jail, you don't understand the pain we and the victims family go through everyday. yes lane may be in prison, but his family can still write to him and see him. they don't have to watch old movies to remember his voice or his laugh. drunk driving is a horrible thing and what happened was even more horrible. i don't care how much lane hates prison or thinks this is an "ironic" situation. he killed my friend, and now he's paying.
