The former Baywatch babe visited the Brigitte Bardot foundation for animal rights to support its fight against baby seal hunting.
Anderson displays the on-line petition, aimed at the Canadian government, her native country.

Yes I did read the whole post, what I could pick out of it anyway, it was mostly made up words. If youre asking me if I read all the comments I did. And I'm saying threatening to burn someone's horse is incredibly wrong, sadistic, immoral and illegal. I know someone who actually has filed police reports against people for threatening her horse. Do you people hear yourselves? You're not giving your case a very good foundation, I mean, I understand that you have an opinion, and you should, and you know, you should fight tooth and nail for what you believe in, but really by saying that you're going to skin people, and burn horses and calling people "fucking idiots" you're really not giving very much validity to your anti-seal arguements. How do you think they slaughter cows? they either shoot them in the head, or they slit their throats and let them bleed to death. I come from a place where seals are hunted, and baby seals are NOT part of the hunt. I hate how these groups twist facts around. I love animals, I'm probably one of the biggest animal lovers out there, but the seal hunt is in no way cruel. They're hunted once a year and humanely as they are extremely over populated.

I agree with most of the people here, especially Samantha. People should come before animals! Seals, baby or adult, need to be killed in order for fisherman and fur traders to earn a living and feed their families. People like Ms. Anderson, and PETA members, are causing many problems.

I am a biologist. seals are not native to newfoundland they migrated here a couple centuries ago, therefore they do not fit into the specific newfoundland environment, as they have no preditors. without preditors, they would eat all their food supply, then die of starvation. would you rather ALL the seals die that way? wastefully? It would seriously take only about 10 years. Plus all kinds of other sea animals would die. this is even if NO humans ate any fish. Seriously, I barely even care about the culturaly aspect of the seal hunt, but seriously, if you want to keep harp seals and hooded seals around for a long time, they need to have a preditor, that preditor is humans, who don't just skin them and leave them on the ice, they eat them and wear them (no, not as designer clothes, as boots and hats so they will not freeze). if seals are not hunted, they will eventually start dying out. You can call me a dickhead or whatever you want, but that doesn't make it not true.

Clubing baby seals? In Canada? Pamela Anderson needs to gets some fact right. Its illegal to kill "white coats" in Canada. But seals are used for a variety of products and are a vital part of many Canadians lives.

Re: dave – There were no natural preditors for seals. Seals came here to eat the cod that was plentiful at one time, and then thrived because there were no sharks, no seal-eating whales, and no polar bears. It really is just one of those natural ecological shifts, but it's a shift that gives room for humans to sustain themselves with food. Also, I am a girl, so I do not feel manly about the hunt.

Newfoundland is a great place to live. You are going to look at us however you want, but I find it funny when you think that we somehow put ourselves in some position where we have to hunt the over populated seals. We didn't, it's been like this for years. I just find it funny that all the environmentalists are coming out of the woodworks to bitch about seals but when you look up in the Newfoundland sky there is no smog, there are not sky scrapers, there are forests for as far as the eye can see, even when you're in the middle of the city you can see forest. God, most of the science majors at MUN are doing so to keep the Newfoundland environment top notch. We care about our land. We care about keeping the balance of our wildlife. We are animals, we have to somehow fit ourselves into the environment and we eat seals, that's how we do it. Why would people come here and start tearing us apart when most of them live in places where they can't drink out of a stream for fear of pollution.
and just to shed some more light to anyone else who may read this I don't know if u realize it or not but the seal hunt last maybe 2-3 days in a whole year. Sometimes it may only be 1.So how it is possible to make a species extinct by hunting it for 1 day a year is clearly impossible when the population is in the millions.
And as for you people who shake ur head at people who hunt well it happens. Most people do it for sport. That I have a problem with. There are a lot bigger issues out there then the Seal Hunt. This is just getting ridiculous. And why are u people getting so mad and have to sink as low to name calling. Do not judge others when u are being judged yourself.

I am glad Pam uses her abilities to help these poor creatures. The baby seals are killed by Canadians, as well as some other countries. About the babies: they are all out on the ice flows with a few adults as attendants. It is like their nursery. The humans walk up and smash their heads in, while others have to watch, before it's their turn. They are then skinned, occasionally without even being dead yet. And adults are killed, and it's not ok. This is a money making business and it is not about population control. This is horrendous, and traumatizing for the seals left. Oh, yeah, and, the point is, THIS IS NOT EVEN A HUNT! Please. What is done here is a cruel and sadistic slaughter. Am I supposed to actually feel sorry for any of the "fishermen" and *cough* "sportsmen" if they can't do this anymore. They'll have other things to do. They won't starve. THEIR families will be ok. I will feel more at ease with fewer humans taking part in such sociopathic activities. If I were living in Canada, I would be very concerned about how public perception is easily changed on this to gain support. The people making money on this are putting plenty of money around Canada to sway public opinion on something unnecessary and cruel that creates anger from the international community. killing seal pups may be illegal but so are many other things. It does not stop people from doing it. Fact is that ”whitecoat” fur is still being sold. Seals are not eating the entire cod population. They were simply ”overfished” by men and we depleted them. I find it hilarious that Newfoundlanders claim to be such an original culture, a proud people who did not want to be a part of Canada yet that story changes and they remain quiet when they are in crisis and the Federal government is supporting their asses. All hunting is retarded. Fact is that fur is not warm compared to the materials we have today. Fact is that meat takes up to 72 hours to digest in your system which is NOT normal. You can get your proteins elsewhere. Pam may not be perfect, but at least she's trying. This cruel practice makes me ashamed to be Canadian. Also, there are grants and loans to get an education. These are available en masse. If these people are too lazy to get an education, it does not justify killing sentient creatures. No wonder Newfoundland is the joke of Canada.
Why yes infact our fish are over caught by fishermen.. from Europe and America who rape our shorelines inside of Canadian waters illegally as well.

Why don't you do something about the billions upon billions of cows you americans slaughter and consume every year (most of the the by driving a blunt bolt into their heads that rarely kill them instantly) .. or how about the poor chickens that are basically mutilated while still alive. .. why don't you go picket a Mcdonalds or a KFC?
The only reason you're speaking out about the seals at all is because you think they're cute and cuddly. They're ravenous! They would bite your arm off in a second given the chance.

I'm sorry, but the only arguement that the anti-seal organizations is that: "how would you feel if your kids were beaten to death". And you know what, I am an animal, you are an animal. If we all tried to not eat meat, many of us would die. Some people need to take a few anthropology courses. You can't feed 6 billion people on soy products, there wouldn't even be enough space on the earth. I'm a vegitarian, I am, that is my personal choice and I don't try and push it on others. If someone broke inot my house and beat my kids to death it would suck pretty bad. However, people do not eat people meat, people will not use all the parts of my body for warmth. It's NOT the same thing and it can't be compare to anything because people have put themselves on a pedistal. I would recommend going to Newfoundland if you want to protest. Actually go out onto the ice like Heather Mills MacCarthy and see how you feel after you almost get bitten, as she did. You people put up the same, non-academic arguements over and over again, yet, you refuse to listen to the well-thought out ones. seriously, would you rather the hunt not go on and the 6 million seals die of starvation after they eat all their food stocks?
Re: Greenlove – That's the most ludicrous thing that I have ever read and especially coming from a vegetarian. Meat takes much more space to hunt/breed than does growing vegies and soy. I won't even bother posting all the proofs. Just Google it. The grain used to feed the livestock in the U.S for 1 day could feed all of India for 1 year. People are starving because of meat.
As for seal overpopulation and them starving to death, that is nature. Nature always balances itself out. Do you know that 90% of mammals are not hunted in North America and that none of these mammals are overpopulated? Nature conditions itself just fine with the availability of food, weather conditions and many other factors.
I have a degree in anthropology (amongst other degrees) and I have been to Newfoundland. As for seals trying to bite you…wouldn't you if you were a seal under what you feel is a threat to your safety? Seals cannot make the difference between an AR activist and a sealer. The most important thing that we have in common with these animals is our sharing of physical pain. I think that's quite enough to make their life worthy.
Ummm does anyone realize that if the seals are not hunted annually in the Canadian North that they actually become a problem because they run rampant? If the seal population isn't controlled then they will become overpopulated…..the Canadian government also only allows for a limited period of time in which people can hunt the seals as well. Pamela Anderson should perhaps do some RESEARCH on her countrys legislation. I can understand the fight to end cruelty, but it is an impossibility to completely end the hunt.
