Save The Whales Seals

797522431.jpg

Pamela Anderson is shaking her titties tonight at the Crazy Horse strip club in Paris, but before that, she took some time out to fight for animal rights.

The former Baywatch babe visited the Brigitte Bardot foundation for animal rights to support its fight against baby seal hunting.

Anderson displays the on-line petition, aimed at the Canadian government, her native country.

But you see, we live in the same world. There really is no separation. What affects one, affects all. I care about all problems in all countries, including my own. Good luck on you path in life. Peace out.

It really seems sometimes like the same people are posting in different names and replying to themselves. That's pretty funny.

I personally could never kill a seal so I guess it all depends upon one's stance. I seriously think they should be relocated. Costs money to do that, huh?

so lets count the tally, shall we?
pro-seal hunt have made the following arguements: 1. white coats are not killed and while although they may not seem like adult seals to you, they actually are because they are abandoned by their mothers. 2. keeps a floundering economy alive. 3. helps poor families. 4. seals ARE perished and are even checked by veterinary techs before they are skinned. 5. the seal population is actually crippling itself and without the hunt seals would demolish their food sources and die in mass numbers of starvation. 6. All parts of the seal are used and are respected. Newfoundlanders are not hateful towards the seal, they respect it and are thankful for it. 7. Is an integral part to the Canadian Indigenous way of life. 8. Even the World Wildlife Fund supports the Seal Hunt. 9. All prime ministers, liberal and conservative, after extensive research have concluded that the seal hunt is needed. 9. there are strict regulations set down to prevent the prolonged needless suffering of the animal. And im sure i missed a few good points.
All right, now the arguement of the Anti-seal movement.
    1. IT"S MURDER. 2. YOU FUCKING SUCK I HATE YOU I HOPE YOU DIE.
yeah. awesome. way to debate guys.

Re: tl – it'd be pretty impossible to relocate the animals now, after living here for a couple hundred years, they have adapted to the environment. If we located all of the seals (5.8 million) the costs would be astronomical, plus in the process we would have to touch countless seal pups and their mothers would not nurse them. that would mean an entire generation of seals would be wiped out. But I think you may be one of the only anti-seal people to actually try and think up a solution that doesn't involve killing atlantic canadians or resulting to childish name calling. Cudos on being progressive with your opinions, and actually trying to think up solutions. you're a tribute to your cause.

"Challenge: Poor governance and increased demand have depleted fish stocks and destroyed marine environments. At least 75 percent of the world's fisheries are already fully exploited or overfished. Without the oceans' natural bounty, 950 million people could lose their main source of protein." WWF
WE are the main cause for fish depleting. Stop blaming it on the seals.
However, WWF Canada, although they do some good work, is misguided, uninformed, and swayed by the government with their stance on seals.

  9. tl says – reply to this

    509

Yes, I realize my "solution" was idealistic and I know the great numbers of seals. I wish relocation was possible for at least some. I hope one day there will be an answer to bring peace. I pray for the best for all concerned, including the fisherman and indigenous peoples.

I personally think if the seal hunt, whaling, etc. were to end(and I wish it did), the Canadian government should step up to the plate and provide education and/or other jobs/compensation to help the fisherman who rely on these practices for their livlihood.
In addition, I would love to see legislation made for all countries who have taken a stand against the seal hunt and Canadians if they wish, putting their money where their mouth is, and each person be taxed even a penny to come up with other more humane solutions and apply them with allied permission with Canada for the sanctity of life and respect, of course, to them and their government. There has to be a better way.

    517

While I applaud any celebrity who is willing to take their personal time to aid a charitable cause it is unfortunate that so many celebrities have chosen to support the misguided attempt to end the seal hunt. The first indicator that this platform is uniformed is their posters, or as many of you have wisely called it propaganda, which show the celebrities who pose with the cute cuddly white seals. These seals are one of two breeds, baby seals or artic seals. Yes it is in fact illegal to hunt baby seals, yet just like many other laws this is broken because their pelts do generate a large sum. However, the seal hunt nor the Canadian government can be blamed for this blatant ignorance of the law. Do we then need to save the gorillas as well? It is difficult to stop poachers and anyone who has a solution to this problem is welcome to share that with the Canadian government; they will happily listen. Artic seals are endangered and therefore they are also not hunted. The fact that PETA uses these images in their campaign speaks volumes about their credibility.

  18. MB says – reply to this

    518

For those of you who are upset with HOW the hunt is performed well then yes I will admit it is not pretty, but it is done in this matter so that the seals will suffer the least. If they were to use guns they run the risk of not killing the seal on the first shot where as clubbing them ensures a quick death. Perhaps there are incidents where hunters are not exercising proper protocol and I believe that these are the hunters shown in the PETA propaganda videos. The Canadian government cannot, and should not, change traditional practices (and necessary practices) for the exploitation of a few, instead there needs to be proper repercussions for the few who do abuse their positions.

    519

For those of you who have mentioned that they are eating the cod populations you are correct, but yes humans have also greatly depleted the populations as well. That is why a moratorium was placed on cod fishing. The problem that then remains is that the seal continue to eat these fish and they are unable to replenish the populations. And for you Americans calling Canadians barbaric I think you need to take a very long look into the mirror before you begin to call other nations barbaric.

    522

Seals are super breeders. They also have a huge fish appetite. They also are in the grand banks. Where our fish are. We over fished in the grand banks to the point we had to stop the fishing.. But now the seals are eating up what's left of them… The culling of seals aught to be done in a hunmane way. And the natives culture around seal hunting and selling of the furs should be protected worldwide. Pamela Anderson aught to try some of that seal meat! Really delicious!!!

Hey Perez, could you do me a huge favor? I know people ask you for things all the time, but my "thing" is a lil different. So, if you could get ahold of Pamela and ask her if she could get ahold of me. I know what your thinking, but I'm not trying to get ahold of her because I am a fan, the reason I'm trying to get ahold of her is because I'm interested in helping her with the saving animals/wildlife thing. I'm a major animal lover and have been my whole life and I have always wanted to volunteer of work for someone who has the power to acutally do stuff. I have never had the money to travel and well you know what I mean. Soooooo, what I was thinking is you could help me out by asking her to help me help her…lol. So I'm gonna go now, so please do the right thing…lmao. Ciao Melissa sky_f_25@hotmail.com

The problem I have with this is that seals are cute so people get such a good rep for fighting to stop the"hunt" but the thing is that the populations of seals is growing in large proportons the people who are in the business of
'hunting' is dying out, so the problem is being regulated. You'll never see stars like brigitte Bardot or Pam fighting to protect a endangered species that looks like a monkeys butt! But everyone jumps on the overpopulated seals bandwagon, use your celebrity to more serious causes!!!!

    528

This is crazy!! If you actually think they they do not hunt baby seals, then YOU need to get your facts straight, the white fur you see on those stupid fur coats that you people wear are from the babies, the adult seals don't have white fur…DDDUUUHHH!!! So maybe you should all get your facts straight and just face it, your culture is taking little baby seals and bashing them in the heads with clubs and letting the adults live to produce more for the next seal hunt…anyone that doesn't know this, needs to read up on the facts before spouting off about people that are trying to make a change in this world!!

  29. Pam Sucks says – reply to this

    529

Re: c isbell – I have never seen anyone with white seal fur. Have you been here to see them? And actually it's ridiculous to say that whitecoats are killed so the mothers can reproduce again next year, as young seals are more likely to reproduce. It kills me when people NOT from Newfoundland say, "I KNOW you're wearing baby seal fur". No, we're not. It's not like white fur is some kind of prestigous trophy that everyone is vying for. I hate when people say, 'you need to get your facts straight' when they've never experienced the seal hunt apart from youtube videos. Who do you think would have more facts, the people that have seen a few videos and listen to the moronic rantings of Heather Mills MacCarthy or those who know hunters, see the product of the hunt, or unbiased people that take part in it, like veterinary technicians.

okay you American animal lovers - 143 million pounds of beef recalled because a slaughterhouse in California was abusing cows!!! yes! abusing them with pitch forks!! so maybe you should worry about animal abuse in your own backyard before you pretend to be advocates of animal rights.

  34. Mary says – reply to this

    534

Pam Anderson is clueless. The seal hunt will continue every year. "Baby" seals are not hunted. There are very strict rules and regulations that the sealers must follow. This is not a sport hunt. There are MANY people who rely on the seal hunt for their income- real, normal, hard working people- not celebrities who are out of touch with the real world and who spend their time flashing their plastic tits.

Re: Canadian – i've done lots of research regarding this issue, so i'm definitely NOT uneducated or ignorant. i know all about the seal population and how they eat all the fish. but that doesnt take away from the fact about how cruel and barbaric the way the seals are clubbed to death.

overpopulation should be left to nature, not human killers. don't try to make excuses and validate the right to murder innocent animals.
