Obama Plagiarizes Speech
Filed under: Barack ObamaBarack Obama has been criticized for plagiarizing a speech during a campaign stop this past weekend and not being upfront about it.
The similarities between the Democratic presidential hopeful and a speech made by by Deval Patrick, the current Democratic governor of Massachusetts, back in October 2006 are striking.
Barack blatantly copied several lines and linguistic speech patterns from Deval's "Just Words" speech for Obama's own "Words Matter" speech in Wisconsin.

Well if you wanna get technical about it. TECHNICALLY Deval Patrick's speech wasn't original either. "I have a dream" "We hold these truths to be self-evident" and "We have nothing to fear except fear itself" weren't his own thoughts. If you're gonna criticize Obama for using these phrases you might as well do the same for everyone who does.
Hillary refused to do the Rollingstone interview with Michael Moore, while Obama and Edwards agreed to! Therefore, no cover story. Hillary is a crooked fucker!

Ok, first off…let's talk about how not one single politician writes their own speaches. Not even your President writes his own speeches. Sure, they review them before presenting them, but the original pen to paper process is not done by them. ALSO, it was suggested BY DEVAL PATRICK HIMSELF that Obama borrow from this speech. Plagiarism is - "the unauthorized use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author and the representation of them as one's own original work." If it's AUTHORIZED, it's not plaigarism. I believe if you looked throughout the history of time, you would come to realize that political theories are often replicated in speeches from candidates of the color red and of the color blue. That's all irrelevant. The words WITHIN the speech are what matter.

Inspiration is a foundation of this country and always will be. We have been inspired by our fore fathers to carry on in this country as they would have. Deval was quoting from past historic figures, like the example of Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream Speech." Its no major deal when a politician qoutes a LEGENDARY figure like King, however when he goes into qouting a friend I belive it is a problem.
Entry #3 passes Obama off as an elequent candidate. I am a firm believer that we should have a good candidate representing both parties so the country will be in good hands either way. However, Obama cannot just be called "elequent" just in defense of blatant plagiarism. Its like writing a paper, he should have cited his qoutation being borrowed from Deval Patrick.
What Patrick says is borrowed from other historic figures and there is no way he ca pass it off as one of his own. Obama could not either;it goes deeper. Obama needs charisma. He needs his own material. I like him, I think he would represent this country well, but he needs to be have a format that he himself uses and not one of his friends.
