Lindsay Lohan recreates Marilyn Monroe's famous and very revealing "Last Sitting" photographs for the new issue of New York magazine.
No stranger to scandal herself, the thrice-rehabbed Lohan calls Monroe’s suicide “tragic” and remarks to the mag, “You know, it’s also tragic what just recently happened to someone else.” When asked if she’s referring to Heath Ledger she says, “They are both prime examples of what this industry can do to someone.” She is adamant, however, that she will not meet a similar fate, saying, “…I sure as hell wouldn’t let it happen to me.”

Marilyn Monroe didn't commit suicide. Her psychiatrist and nurse were pushing meds and they gave her too much.
She looks hot- and she has GREAT boobs. The thirteen-year-old losers who say she looks gross have clearly never seen real breasts. While the Marilyn spread may seem like a cheap immitation at first blush, I think the concept is actually pretty appropriate. The pressure and exposure on today's stars is double that of Monroe's day (do doubt due to websites like this.) Stars are not the only ones who respond to stress by turning to alcohol or drugs. We can talk about this problem all we want, but talking does not do nearly as much as a picture- a picture of what could easily have been Lindsey's fate if she had not sought help. And for those who discount her progress- recovery is a process- please know that slip-ups are common.

I met Bert Stern in 1982 at the 20th anniversary showing of his Marilyn shoot. Her last shoot. What a lot of people don't know about that is that Marilyn drank huge amounts of champagne during the two day shoot to numb her pain. She was dead less than two months later. Right after the shoot, Bert Stern presented her with the contact sheets and some negatives of the shoot. Unbeknownst to him, Marilyn was distraught enough in her own head to take a red marker and X through the majority of the negs and contact sheets. To Burt's horror. That's why some of the images, when printed, have a faint red X through them, from Marilyn's magic marker.
Fast forward to now and supposedly sober Lohan. She doesn't know jack shit about the background, she has just seen some "pretty" photos and worked to copy them. Lohan looks older than Marilyn did at the time, and Marilyn was 36. I can't see messing with the Marilyn shoot and shame on Burt Stern for revisiting something that while messed up in its own right was also a tiny bit sacred. Big, fat miss on my part. Lindsay Lohan doesn't have an original bone in her body or unique thought in her head.
