A Los Angeles county commissioner is attempting to pass new legislation - dubbed "Britney's law" - that aims to crack down on those paparazzi that are out of control..
Well, LAPD chief William Bratton thinks that's a crock of shit.
"What we need is Britney Spears to stay home instead of traipsing all over town. That would solve the problem. We don't need additional laws…. I've got laws coming out my ears to deal with this issue.
What you have is several young women in this town and several young men basically making fools of themselves and tying up not only my resources but the resources of the media that would do better covering legitimate stories instead of a bunch of airheads running around out there….
Quite clearly some of these characters so favored by the paparazzi are clearly in need of services. Not police services, but psychiatric services.

Yes, these celebretards are partly to blame, but you gotta face the issues at hand. Though we wish they would, they aren't gonna get all boring and stay home. They live for the attention and you gotta deal with it.

the cops don't have to "deal with it" regarding these celebrities wanting attention. it's not the police dept's problem if britney "becomes boring". Yes, these camera freaks are an annoyance - but if some of these celebrities would get their own behavior in "check" then they wouldn't be stalked by these papz. There are plenty of celebs that are well known, well liked and still are not overly bothered by the papz. Most try and keep a low profile.

Chief Bratton is speaking common sense! And it's not about the celebutards staying home 24/7 and getting "all boring". It's about common sense and living normal lives. Society does not exist to pay for security services for spoiled performers. They can purchase security staff to help them deal with their personal issues. I hate to say it, but I think that even celebrities should be afforded the opportunity to be free to go to the store, to the starbucks, or wherever without being attacked and impeded by the photographers. LAPD chief William Bratton is an IDIOT!!!! How dare him say that some of these "stars" need to "STAY HOME"? WTF? What if someone told your ass to stay home!!? I don;t care for Britney Spears at all but I just thought this "LAPD CHIEF" made himself look like a complete DUMBASS by making that statement! They DEFINTELY need to pass that law, these famous people should be able to go to a grocery store or take their kids to the park without having ten men with falshing bulbs all in their fac including in their children's face! I'm suprised none of these paparazzi's have gotten a real ass beating yet, b/c if I was with my kids being swarmed like that it would sure be hard to stay calm. That is absolutely ridiculous. I'm sick of hearing how the celebrities shouldn't go out because of the paps. WHY SHOULD THEY BE FORCED TO NEVER LEAVE THEIR HOMES?? Its unreasonable to say that human beings shouldn't go out in public and enjoy life because people hound them for pictures.

So, because the photographers can't be decent human beings and at least keep their distance, she has to stay in her home at all times? How is that fair for her? True she has assistants that could do her errands and shopping for her. But each and every one of you know that if she stayed home and made others do her stuff for her 1.) Perez would be pissed cause he would lose 3/4 of his writing material, 2.) you people wouldn't have anything to fill your gossip hour with, and 3.) you'd all call her a spoiled, stuck up brat who can't do anything for herself.
That is not fair to make any celeb stay home. They may be crazy and a little too wild but you can't ask them to stay in because the paps won't leave them alone. Make some lays where they have to stay away by at least so many feet or something. I don't know but dang.
While I agree that Britney craves attention, she can't be expected to "stay home." She is a human being and shouldn't be held prisoner in her own home. She has every right to go to Rite Aid as often as she likes. The papparazzi are really to blame. If they would just give her a little space, she might stop running them over.
Bratton could not have said it any better. Do we really need to be taking away resources from those who really need them. As it is we have a shortgage of law enforcement officers, and to put to them to babysit/secure celebrities is a bunch of crap. How many times do they have to go shopping, buy groceries, do their hair, etc? To top it all off they go to the most obvious places that they know paps will be, how is that the cities problem? If they dont like it, STAY HOME, or have someone else do it for you, they do have the money.

If they want to go out, let em. You're not going to stop them or the photags that chase after em. I live nearby and have seen the franzy first hand. It's NUTS.. I say, if their actions result in excessive expense for tax payers (like being forceably removed from one's home and committed) resulting expenses should be reimbursed. Local press said it cost LA $150K to get her out of her house. If it had been any one else, those costs would have been minimal. Pay the difference. Simple, if they invite that kind of attention, then they should pay to protect themselves from it when frenzy causes major public expense.
Everyone should have the right to free movement whenever and wherever they want. For the LAPD chief to suggest that THEY should stay home is ridiculous and discriminatory. (Can we get him out of office??)
The problem is the paparrazi. It is the responsibility of the police to protect citizens who are stalked and harrassed by others–for the financial benefit of the stalkers.

While Britney does need to go out for fresh air, she has to know that when she does go out, it will cause all this commotion. she has to have some personal responsibility in a lot of it. It seems she doesn't go out as much anymore. The past few months were ridiculous with her going out multiple times a day to the gas stations, Rite Aid and such. I don't even go out that much!
There has to be some way for her to go away somewhere for a while. If she hates the papparazzi so much, she needs to hire people to go on her errands for her. But then, she wouldn't like that cuz she wouldn't be getting the attention!
