Also people who claim that people who are strict Christians who wait till marriage will have a marriage that lasts forever are very naive! The reason they never get divorced is because the woman was raised in such a patriarchal setting where the woman never questions what her husband does to her (Or in many cases with other women (Or even Men!!) and is basically taught to be subservient to him!
I can't believe people make such a big deal over something like this. It's pathetic. I believe the Jonas Brothers will remain true to their promise. They seem like really nice guys, the type of guys there should be more of in this sad world. They made the promise long before fame and now with people doubting them of keeping it until marriage will make them want to prove everyone wrong.

I agree with Amber. The Jonas Brothers are excellent role models. Girls throw themselves at them every single day and they still resist the temptation to have sex with them. Ok, the way I read the question is not whether or not we believe they will be capable of keeping the commitment to chastity. The question is whether or not it is considered losing your virginity to receive a BJ or hand job. Quite frankly the opinions of all of these people (myself included) are completely irrelevant. The opinion that matters will be the opinion of the girl (and yes I am assuming they are straight) that they will eventually marry. Will she consider them to still be a virgin if they have received a bj or hand job? Considering it is unlikely that girl will be a virgin, this is all very pointless.
When I make out with my boyfriend and he gets a boner it is unsafe if he does not come so oral sex and handjobs are medically necessary so God will undestand.

A religious leader who was trying to encourage young people to take a vow of chastity once told us that if people wonder where to draw the line, they should look to the tan line - if the sun doesn't see it neither should anybody else. I think that's probably a good indicator.
That said, chastity seems to just encourage people to get married young and without taking on the full weight of the life long decision they are making just to get laid. And come on, that has to be the WORST reason in the world to get married.

I have had a purity ring since I was really young. I actually sat through an entire class and that exact question was asked. They DO count. The rings represent PURITY not VIRGINITY! That's why they are called purity rings. When JB speaks of the rings, they say 'to remain pure til marriage' not 'to not have sex until we get married'. So YES, they DO count.

I think it's a mistake to PROMISE to wait. I think it jinxes the whole process. I may end up waiting until I'm married, I may not. I am a lesbian, so it does make that "marriage" bit a bit more difficult. I don't necessarily think it's wrong to have sex before marriage, but I do think it creates a stronger bond with your significant other if you do wait. I do, however, think that sex before you are out of high school a mistake. It distracts from studies and creates drama, which no one in high school needs more of.
