i noticed that too, and frankly i am very disappointed with the academy for doing such a thing. Regardless of how Brad died, he was still an actor in Hollywood and he is now gone.

I'm sorry, but I don't know what the difference between Brad Renfro and Heath Ledger is. They were both young actors that lost their lives because of drugs. In my opinion, Brad was a better actor. If Heath wasn't in Brokeback Mountain who would care about him. To show all of those people and not give any attention to Brad was a complete lack of compassion and taste.

Ok so it wasnt my imagination. Thats some BS especially since they included stuntmen on their list. He overdosed on heroin and Heath overdosed on prescription medication. They were both using drugs but he gets snubbed!
thats messed up. the academy is a bunch of white jew snobs that shunned that poor young boy because he died of a heroin overdose. but oxycodine is basically the pharmeceutical version of the street drug and yet they still honored the actor that overdosed on that.
They didn't put him on there because he died after January 31, 2008. That was the cut-off date apparently.

I couldn't believe they forgot or snubbed him. He died 2-3 weeks before Heath and Suzanne Pleshette, who were both included. If they snubbed him then shame on them, Heath died of the exact same thing, an overdose.

They were honoring people who had either won or been nominated for an academy award. Heath Ledger was metioned because he won the Oscar in 2006 or Best actor in a lead roll for Brokeback Mountain.

You have to have been nominated to be honored in the memorial tribute- just because he may or may not have been a SAG member doesn't matter; this is the Oscars which is totally unrelated. He did die in January, though, to answer that question- about a week before Heath did, so don't look for a tribute next year either.
