MARION COTILLARD. CONGRATULATIONS. SHE REALLY DESERVED IT. AN AMAZING PERFORMANCE IN LA MOME.
All those awards for No country for old men, well I believe all were justified except … best picture. No Atonement and There will be blood were better.

    Re: Ashlynn
Did you honestly just call Daniel Day Lewis a "stupid, talentless actor"? You seriously need to think that statement over. Johnny Depp is a phenomenal actor, but Daniel Day Lewis is probably the greatest actor of his generation. Your opinion of him is probably only so low because he is so very picky about movie roles, so you won't have witnessed him in action before (He's only made 3 films in the last 10 years).
Johnny Depp will no-doubt win an award, and soon. 2008 just wasn't his year. I honestly believe that if his singing was stronger, he'd have stood a better chance.

Daniel Day Lewis was AMAZING in There Will Be Blood. A reporter asked Tommy Lee Jones (also nominated) who should win, and even he said DDL. No surprise. Best actor in the world right now.

That was the dullest oscars ever.
Next year it will probably be televised on Nickelodeon rather than a network.

    Re: kacup

You can't be serious! The Best Picture nominees were great this year with the exception of Juno which was forgettable. And I can't believe people are calling Daniel Day-Lewis a talentless actor. Philistines…

I would have liked to see Atonement win more awards, including Best Picture, but I'm still content with No Country for Old Men. Overall, there weren't very many surprises, but I was really glad that Marion won!

  30. minnie says – reply to this

    230

all of you saying the oscars given to non-american actors is unfair are retarded!
cotillard, day-lewis, swinton, bardem… who cares if they're european!? truth is they're TALENTED, and they deserved their oscars bigtime!
and saying juno & ellen page were robbed! i mean common' it's a good movie and she's nice but her performance is nothing like cotillard's.

DDL is a good actor but no way does he compare to anything near Depp's abilites. He hasn't got the imagination that Depp has which intrigues the public so much. If you asked the public what role of DDL's was your favourite I guaruntee you they'd struggle to name a role by him.

The academy members obviously think that foreign actors are "way rad" right now. And yes, I think it has something to do with anti-American sentiment among Americans. They just think Europeans are cooler. (but Daniel Day Lewis deserved his award) It's not fair, but it's a popularity contest so nothing anybody can do about it.
