Her little sis, Jamie Lynn Spears has gotten her high school diploma!
The pregnant sixteen-year-old passed the GED exam last month and apparently scored pretty well on reading comprehension. She is now looking to take the ACT college entrance test.
Once she pops the baby out, let's hope that academia wins out over partying or popping out more babies!

I don't necessarily think I'm better than the losers that stroll their way through HS and look down upon those that have a GED, but I admit that I'm bitter toward them because these same losers think that they are somehow smarter and better than those with a GED. The truth of the matter is that a HS diploma nor a GED has much value.

The truth of the matter is that there was a study done on this. More than half of HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES who were tested with the GED test FAILED! So in conclusion, the GED test is actually difficult enough that most high school grads can't pass.
I would so do the same thing… Why not bypass the crap QUICKLY and go right into college! BRAVO GIRL! i know i wanted to start serious studies in college when i was still in high school stuck with a bunch of brats.

Exactly. I reread my post and I guess I was really upset, which is why it sounded so mean. I agree 100% with what you said– it depends on the people to actually become something. That's exactly what I've been trying to say, but haven't been able to. Under the surface, a GED and HS diploma are essentially the same thing. It's what afterwards that is important.

A GED is not a diploma.
Back in my day (so very old) all the lazy/loser sophmores and juniors who didn't want to deal with school simply dropped out and went to community college where they'd take a 3 month course and pass a simple test to get a GED. It's the easy way out and it isn't as valuable as an actual diploma. But how valuable IS a US high school diploma these days?
I wish I had finished college.

I certainly wasn't a brainiac and I did not prepare at all and scored 100% in reading comprehension and only missed 1 or 2 on the other components. I scored in the top 5% for the state. The theme of my speech was that the GED is in fact not an indicator that your knowledge is equivalent to a High School education. In fact studies have shown that an 8th grade student could pass the test. I don't get where all the accolades are coming from. She is home and pregnant, she has time to do the work and actually get a high school diploma. She's not planning to go to college or completing high school would be a priority. Anyone can take the ACT's or SAT's, that doesn't mean you will pass or that you are college material. Check out GED sample questions online, they are very basic.
