What you consider "good taste in music" is totally different from what others do obviously. Deal with it. Seriously JB was on the sold out Hannah Montana tour and are now on another sold out one, rumored to do Avril's to help SELL hers. So obviously they are good. Paramore- highly attracted at Warped, many sold out shows. Big deal. If you don't like it, don't trash what others do saying they have bad taste in music.

Congrats but def. not feeling this, not that your opinion of music will really "sell" an artist. You have an ear for a certain "type" of music neither mainstream nor catchy. You would be better off working with a smaller indie label, they need to hire A&R's that know how to develop new talent not use the talent as an opening act for their own ego, but hey you're a celebrity… for now so maybe it'll work out for a year or two for you.

Not a fan of this idea. I think it's great what Perez can do now, getting music out there on his own terms, but things will only go south from there. No matter how good the intentions will be in the beginning it will ultimately get corrupted by money and perez will be getting paid off to promote some record label contrived band. I hope you keep your head on your shoulders!

Perez congrats…but I am pretty skeptical that Warner is going to pay you $100K to plug unsigned and/or rival artists, even though you maintain that you will be able to do what you want. As with all signings, Warner will not be paying you to do what you want (ask any artist). They will be paying you to work for them, and so I believe your credibility factor here is at stake.
You are definitely the coolest place on the web to discover new music. Please reconsider signing a major label deal! You should start your OWN label.

you are selling out more than usual… over the last year I see: more ads, more posts about "we," more self serving plugs camouflaged like posts… what happened to your edge? What happened to your balls? I am tired of waiting for you to pull your head out of everyone else's' ass and return to what you WERE.
just dont forget about artists like M.I.A. and ROBYN who appear on independent record labels and by advertising them and having people buy their songs, they receive a huge heap of the profits. By advertising artists on a major record label like Warner Music, you're not supporting them, you're supporting the massive music industry cog. 95% of music sales from that artist will go directly to the label. Probably even more of a percentage now that warner is giving you 50% of the profits or whatever.
This whole thing reeks of industry red tape and more crap to deal with from the RIAA. Just remember that you have a big voice - use it wisely!
