he wasn't that bad. probably had other things to do than to talk to a kid that really wasn't very professional. she might learn from this and become a better journalist. really, he just seemed rushed and hard of hearing.

Gary Busey wasn't verbally abusive - granted, he was a bit abrupt in asking a young reporter to repeat the question, but he was never abusive. And he had a point about silly young celebs needing to be better behaved because they have a certain level of responsibility to the people who admire them and look up to them. And so he didn't want to give a shout out to some website - so frigging what? He already gave an interview - which was more articulate than his turn on the red carpet when he accosted Ryan.

The way a few people (Perez included) are making a big deal out of Gary Busey at the Oscars with Seacrest/Garner and this little "interviewer" reminds of the desperately "cool kids" who are terrified of being found uncool making fun of the "different kid" until someone gets through their narcissistic daze that he's been in at least one bad accident and can't hear well, and actually is lucky to be talking at all.
He made perfect sense. So, he didn't want to do some immature "shout out". So what? He didn't have to talk to them at all. I bet there are plenty of "stars" that wouldn't have given those kids the time of day. He certainly was not picking on them.

My suggestion to the 11 year old…….
Next time this happens and some old fart keeps saying he can't hear what you're saying…….First remember that not all hearing aids pick up higher pitched tones like an 11 year olds voice. Next, don't be nervous, repeat the exact question only a little louder. If he still can't hear you repeat it exactly as written once again but even louder! (BTW if he gets irritated because you're loud, simply explain that you were only trying to help him understand the question—-if he walks off SO WHAT… NEXT!)
If after the second time questioning louder he still can't understand, grab his wife/partner/friend by the arm and ask him/her if they would help out by translating the question for you!
Again, either he'll finally answer or get mad and walk away…..but so what there are more interesting people on those red carpets to talk to AND ones that would feel for an 11 year old trying to get an interview!!!!!
AND don't be afraid of someone like Gry Busey….I'm sure you have security or help around who would step in if he gets in your face. Either way, you win!!

I dont understand why people think he's being an asshole here…? He couldnt hear the girl because she was mumbling and stuttering, and there was obviously backround noise.
