People… its fine to have a glass of alcohol now and again, even when you're pregnant. Most pregnant women crave beer a lot of the time. So she had a glass of wine to celebrate the evening soooo not a big deal, we just pay more attention to what celebrities do and point these things out but a lot of women do it!!!!!!!
Don't comment on things you don't understand. A pregnant woman drinking a glass of wine every once in a while is perfectly fine after the first trimester. Americans are retarded, and you are no exception.

Why the fuck would anyone take a chance and drink AT ALL while pregnant? Are you kidding me? There is so much, SO MUCH that can go wrong during a pregnancy that it's amazing it goes right most of the time! Remember, this is the time that the baby is actually FORMING. And the sacrifice you make for the 9 months you are pregnant is nothing compared to the sacrifice you have to make for the next 18 years. So if you can't commit to doing everything you can to have a healthy child, you have no business getting pregnant!
I'm 8 months pregnant right now and my doctor says absoloutely no alcohol during ANY stage…I can't imagine why any pregnant woman would want to drink alcohol at all knowing that there is NO KNOWN amount that is proven "safe" in pregnancy. Why even bother taking a sip of that wine? Do you REALLY need it? You simply don't! So you winos can make excuses for being selfish and indulging or even slightly intoxicating yourself while you're growing a child but you will never know what you might have taken away from them- even if it isn't as noticeable as severe FAS (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome). Do what you want with your body and your baby, but I will never see the reason behind drinking any alcohol while pregnant. It's called sparkling cider and a warm bath. If you can't stay away from booze because you are having a bad day then you have a problem! It won't fix your "stress!" No pregnant woman is "stress" free! Seriously…one glass of wine isn't going to do shit for you, so why even bother? And this shouldn't offend anyone- obviously you are going to make your own choices with your bodies, but you cannot honestly reason it- enough studies haven't been done on light drinking during pregnancy, only on the heavy drinkers. Doctors aren't always right. If you can't help yourself, and I am sorry if that is true- try watering it down at least.

I had a healthy baby 5 months ago and *gasp* I had a glass of wine on 4 different occassions during my pregnancy. Just not during the first trimester.
Its certainly better for your baby to have an occassional glass of wine than to drug your baby up with an epidural right before he's born!!

To everyone who is saying a glass here or there of alcohol doesn't hurt, consider this question: Would you put a glass of alcohol into a babys bottle and then feed it to a newborn? Hmm, I didn't think so. But that's exactly what happens when a pregnant woman drinks - the placenta carries everything over to the baby, alcohol included. Next time Nic thinks of having a sip, maybe she should ask herself that question.

I am also pregnant. Current guidance in UK (Food Standards Agency advice for Pregnant women) is to either abstain or to limit to 1-2 units once a week. Fetal alcohol syndrome will not occur from one glass of wine.
And to the person who said about wine in a bottle.. are you an idiot? Everything a pregnant person eats is broken down by the mother before being passed onto the baby. The baby get s a small amount of everything. How huge do you think a baby will be if it gets 100% of everything a pregnant person intakes. Not to mention the woman would die from not getting any food or drink as it was all being sucked up by the baby!.

My midwife and doctor have encouraged me to do it in the past when I have had contractions to help me go to sleep. People attributing a miscarriages to this are insensitive and misinformed. As an American living in Europe myself (which I know isn't the same as Australia), I will say that there are very different beliefs about the fact that you can drink very moderately when pregnant. One glass of wine is considered alright, but not much more–hopefully Nicole only had the one!
