On saturday we're going to belgium for a week for work experience. i'm dreading going clubbing as everyone (they told us), EVERYONE, dances like this… Hellllllp!!!!!!!!

i found out about this from some french kids that i met. it's been around for a while in france though. i personally think it's amazing.
people have a point: this nation has been "cranking that soulja boy" and DON'T tell me that's more sophisticated.

  6. Al says – reply to this

    206

  7. Madonna's already recruiting says – reply to this

    207

Yes, it's very gay. Yes, it's already old. Yes, it's all over the place and everyone does the same nostalgic sped up Vogue poses and wears 80s clothes and has Euro-mullets. I LOVE IT! Reminds me of New Beat and Eurohouse. It's a real movement here, uniting black, asians, beurres, whites… When was the last time America had such a movement, huh?

J'ADORE!!! Tecktonic pour toujours! Paris, Belgique, la Suisse, tous ont succombé au Tecktonic! Et les pauv'Américains sont jaloux.

  8. Shannon says – reply to this

    208

I thought i would never find a dance worse than crunking. They look like they are doing the vogue on crack.

  9. Lilly says – reply to this

    209

This is the same shit they've been doing in techno clubs right here in America for at least 10 years. Perez, you're from Miami surely you've seen it. I guess the Euros just gave it a name.

  10. cara says – reply to this

  17. Stcoatotone says – reply to this

    217

hi! don't think everybody are like those dick sucker in france! i live there it's right some kids dance this shit in the street dressy like this with there horrible hair cuts who make them look like fucking dick but it's minority! it's just that they squat in public place make you think they're so many! don't worry! france hasn't loose her mind yet, and so many people like me can't deal with this shit! peace

    226

I have to say that, sadly, this is not a 'recent' craze… as a fellow Brit, I can confirm that people have been dancing this way in clubs for years! Sad, but true! Entertaining all the same tho - Thx! :)

  27. MorganLindsey says – reply to this

    227

  28. Angela R. says – reply to this

    228

    Re: Manhattan
Dude, what the fuck is your problem? What exactly do you have against Europeans? Does it not feel even a tad idiotic that you make blanket statements about a bunch of different cultures?

Every culture deserves at least some respect, so why don't you try to be mature and a bit more intelligent about things?

Oh, and for your information, I'm an American.

  29. Frenchies says – reply to this

    229

This is def a French trend! Except it's not new… I've been living in Paris since Aug and it's been around since AT LEAST then. You go to the clubs and see these kids trying to copy this look/dance/style. Even better are when it happends in a metro car…hahha.

Check out : A cause des garcons remix to an even better example

  30. Erin says – reply to this

    230

i am an american living in french teaching english in the elementary schools.. they love playing simon says and every timei say dance at least half the class starts dancing techtonik. these kids are like eight years old what the hell???

  31. Valerie says – reply to this

    231

    Re: lolii
"it's just that some american ppl are so old fashioned! we are in 2008!!"
…and apparently you are illiterate or mildy retarded. Oh wait, I'm sorry, is that too COARSE for you? My whole point was this dance is NOT modern and is in fact OLD FASHIONED. Every element of Tecktonik can be seen in American pop culture from the last 25 years. You should lay off the pomp, apparently it makes you blind. Of course, I didn't expect much more from a European; you have your heads to far up your own ass that you don't even know what Americans are all about. Please excuse me while I go eat my Chick-fil-a fries with honey mustard.

  32. mirkir says – reply to this

    232

wow, it's like….. vouge on crack. With bad clothes! What do they call it? "Let's just move as stupid as possible and if we think we look good we must be cool"?

  33. rocktecktonik says – reply to this

    233

  34. Mermaid says – reply to this

    234

  35. Marissa in Amsterdam says – reply to this

    235

  37. frenchie says – reply to this

    237

i can't believe you hadn't heard of tectonik before… i go to a french school so all the new guys that come from paris do their dance at parties and shit… it's kinda cool if they do it well… but it also involves the way they dress and their haircuts

  38. Aliya says – reply to this

    238

I live in French Switzerland and this video is on RE-PEAT all day on the mcm Channel. The dance is called Tektonik, and it started in Paris like 5-7 years ago, but is just becoming popular like crazy here. Yelle has some tektonik dancers too…

  39. red says – reply to this

    239

The guy looks like Travolta in Saturday Night Fever.

  40. Lo says – reply to this

    240

    hahha
i had a french exchange student last summer and he would randomly start dancing like that all the time

  41. scarlett says – reply to this

    241

techtonik is so over. everyone does it now; at trocadero for money, in the middle of crosswalks, even 5 year olds are doing it. totally a french thing that needs to die. one more wannabe techtonik guy and i'm going to scream.

  42. sam says – reply to this

    242

  46. Asiangirl says – reply to this

    246

I loved it! I can imagine the rest of the world catching with the craze except for the mighty hugeeee american's which would look hilarous doing this! Too much cheese burgers!

  47. shanny says – reply to this

    247

wtf? this stuff has been going on for a year in France and Perez is just now getting a hint?

    258

tecnotonik is so not new its been around for a few years now and it's been getting crazy exposure due to the the remix of yelle's song au cause des garcons which is brilliant by the way. 271

    LOOOL.
    Perez, it's called Tecktonik!
Everyone does it where I live, in Morocco.
Most of us hate it :D

  72. Caro says – reply to this

    272

For your information, tecktonik is a teenage thing. People over 20 are not concerned by this ( like the "pokemon" cards for even younger kids, you see?)

  73. M0nk3y says – reply to this

    273

I live in france and yea this is true, how embarassing !!! they make us all look so stupid its like a super-cool thing to do now and they even have these massive battles LOL !
    Type SMBD on youtube …

What a bunch of retards !

  74. mrK from holland says – reply to this

    274

TYPICAL!!! Why do you yanks think all europeans r the same. This is commercial childrendiscocrap and is certainly no hit anywhere else, apart from daftpunk can you name one good band or singer from france or germany, belgium, spain, portugal, shall i go on,only sweden, holland, dance tiesto, amin van buren and the united kingdom. So dont generalise and PEREZ do yr research before you publish something please….

  75. ry_rain says – reply to this

    275

so, um, yea, thats not new. they're basically vogueing really fast and that was done a long time ago. Has anyone seen Tongues Untied? this was happening in gay bars a couple decades ago

  76. Sherr says – reply to this

    276

That's a far cry from the ol' dirty dancing. If they stand too close to each other someone could get hurt.

  77. Larry says – reply to this

    277

Both the dance and the music appear to be a toned down modification of Korean bokko dancing.

  78. Belgian Girl says – reply to this

    278

Yelle - A Cause Des Garçons is better (^_^)

but it's not like they dance like that (yet) here in Belgium.. :)

  79. Piss off says – reply to this

    279

TeckTonik has been around for ages. I hate how Perez acts like his discovered something new and is the cause for the hype that surrounds it. Fuck off.

  80. Frank says – reply to this

    280

You are a bit behind the curve Paris…this was the 'latest' 2 months ago

  81. Emma! says – reply to this

  83. Faked Sonic says – reply to this

    283

In France, teen dances are ridiculous, ok, but in the United States, you elected George Bush :')

  84. little odessa says – reply to this

    284

Damm that shit is soo gay.Kind of obvious it orginated with the Frenchies. Its even worst then "Jumping".That was a dancestyle from then Netherlands and Belgium. Its a bit farmlike but atleast they look silly instead of silly and gay.

  85. Kally says – reply to this

    285

It's the mullet dance! Hahahahahahaha….that's some funny stuff.

  86. SB says – reply to this

    286

That is just a combination of vogueing with a little bit of locking rolled into a sloppy dance. I'm not surprised…the french cannot dance without stealing moves from americans. They already think they invented house music. Silly…very silly…

  87. lewen says – reply to this

    287

    that's a new dance craze????/
It looks like old school vogueing to me.

  88. Ashley says – reply to this

    288

What the fuck? Where do they get these drugs in Europe?

  89. Laura says – reply to this

    289

I'm ashamed to be European …

  90. charlotte says – reply to this

    290

Re: jolene – So true. And that's still how it looks at most of the South FLorida (Miami/ Orlando) house & breaks scene. It's all arms bc you take a few pills and you forget you even HAVE legs! Tecktonik was news 6 months to a year ago……

  91. Cindy says – reply to this

    291

The eighties called and they want their creepy back.

  92. amal medina says – reply to this

    292

a little too late perez, last year in kuala lumpur its already started, taking over the world! just an upscale version of electronic dancing

  93. Michelle says – reply to this

    293

This is nothing new, I have gone to raves with my gays and they all do this dance!

  94. Thomas Skinner says – reply to this

    294

I'm from the Uk and you don't often get an englishman saying this but i love it and i have to say the french dancers in this are HOTTT!!! Just wish i knew who they were!! I love the music in the UK at the mo v retro but this is amazing i apsolutly love it so much so me and my flatmate are trying to learn the dance!! Its gotta be betta then that Soldja boy crap they are playing!!!

  95. Matt says – reply to this

    295

The more you dance tecktonik the more addicting it becomes, it goes from hilarious to something you love haha. Doubt it'll catch on in new york though :( Tecktonik Danse

  96. Fallen says – reply to this

    296

I'm ashamed to be European when I see that :p You should check out jump aswell Perez, another style that feels treathened by tektonic:p

  97. ** says – reply to this

    297

It's not new, but in Belgium it's getting to be a hype at the moment.. I don't hate it as much as that F*cking jumpstyle (an arm in your face doesn't hurt as much as a foot:p).. it's strange, oldfashioned and the clothes and hair are ridiculous… but once I start watching a tecktonic video on tv, I can't stop looking:p Soooo fascinated:p

  98. gina says – reply to this

    298

    old
    as
    fuck
people have been doing this shit at raves for over 10 years - way to go Europe, you're still consistantly 10 years behind, culturally speaking of course

  99. Bethy LU says – reply to this

    299

THAT was weird. But then again, people in Europe are strange sometimes

  100. katie says – reply to this

    300

I saw this when visiting Paris last month - kids in groups flinging about. Good entertainment, but when you are standing at a distance and can't hear the music, it looks hilarious. The kids we saw had on black/white only (as a general rule). They were quite serious - and silllyyy!
