Pregnant woman uses train toilet, baby slips out
A newborn baby girl survived an ignoble birth after slipping down the toilet bowl of a moving Indian train onto the tracks when a pregnant woman unexpectedly gave birth while relieving herself on Tuesday.
"My delivery was so sudden," said the Bhuri Kalbi, the mother of the infant, born two months prematurely. "I did not even realize that my child had slipped from the hole in the toilet."
Kalbi, a 33-year-old woman from a village in Rajasthan, fainted on the toilet seat after the birth for a few minutes before waking up and alerting her family.
"They stopped the train and ran on the tracks to find the baby," she said, speaking from her hospital bed in the western city of Ahmedabad.
Railway staff at a nearby station were alerted and soon found the newborn girl lying uninjured on pebbles by the track. She is now in intensive care because of her premature birth, doctors said.
Most toilets on Indian trains are filthy chutes emptying directly onto the tracks.
Call me jaded but I don't buy it. I *hope* I'm wrong and the story the mother is telling is the truth, but honestly, I just don't believe a word of it.

Although it does seem highly unlikely,you are all clearly ignorant,the umbilical cord of a baby isn't actually attacted to the mtoehr,but the amniotic sack inside of her.This sack usually comes out a few minutes after a woman gives birth.If the woman passed out,the amnitoic sack could have easliy slipped out after a moment or two.
But this story still seems like a bunch of bollocks.

The umbilical cord isnt attached to the mother moron..it's attached to the PLACENTA. So, if the placenta came out with the baby…then so would the UMBILICAL cord.

That is such a mature comment. First of all jackass, the more kids you have the easier it is to give birth. Second of all, it was premature. So, if it was only about 3lbs, that would have definitly just slipped out. Thirdly, During labor you can have or get the feeling of having to shit. So you push thinking you are taking a shit when in fact she was giving birth.

actually, crazy stuff like this happens! i heard about this girl who NEVER KNEW she was pregnant. one day, she had a stomach ache so she left school (she was in high school). she went to the bathroom at home, and a baby popped out of her and into the toilet! TRUE STORY!!!
#19, india is a capitalistic society the problem stems from their out of control birth rate and over-population. The rural people there are very backwards and uneducated while the best and brightest of India always immigrate to the West instead of staying home to improve the lives of the Indian people.
I have to agree and say she gave birth and threw the baby away down the toilet chute and then had an "epiphany" and wanted the baby back. There is no way the baby could come loose from the placenta without causing the mother harm. There's an umbilical cord people!! Poor baby hopefully she's ok

Of course it comes out after the baby. The umbilical cord is attached to the placenta which comes out after the baby is born… The umbilical cord it not attached to the MOTHER. So, if the placenta came out with the baby so would the umbilical cord.

I just had to comment. Sorry if its alittle graphic .I doubt you have ever given birth?.. Well I have(twice) and it feels like the baby is coming out "back there". So most midwifes know, that when a woman starts saying she has to use the toilet.. Well then the baby is due out any moment.
But I most say its incredible that she didnt understand that when the contractions started pushing the baby out. That took me almost 30 minutes, (the whole opening phase tok 28 hours..)
Anyhow. Glad the baby is okay, hope the parents pay a little more attention in class from now on.. YEIKS!

The mother could go to the toilets to give birth and then just threw the baby away when she discovered the baby was a "SHE"!!!

For those wondering how this happened and she didn't know it.
First the baby was only 3 lbs. and no one cut the cord, I'm sure while she was passed out, the placenta was probably expelled and the whole thing fell onto the tracks, if not, the baby would have blead to death.

alright dumbasses the umbilical cord is attached to a placenta which detaches from the uterus naturally after birth its not actually attached to the mother if you dont know what a placenta is look it up and if she passed out its believable labor isnt always painful as everyone makes it seem like…it all depends on the person
something doesn't sound right… not only what happened to teh umbilical cord??? it's some what possible it could have ripped but not very common.. She didn't feel it how loose could that girl be… but i think she was trying to get ride of the kid and got caught….
Other articles say the Mom was bleeding heavily and passed out (blood loss?), so it's quite possible that the placenta, to which the umbilical cord is attached, was ripped away from her uterus. It's astounding Mom didn't die. They still aren't sure about the baby girl's life =(

Well as a FEW people tried to explain the umbilical cord is attached to the placenta (which is NOT attached to the mother, so it came out too).If people would take the time to actually read what intellegent people write they would have figured this out. "Saywhat" described it very well… with back labor you feel like you are going to take a crap. They used to give women enemas prior to childbirth so they would not crap all over. To all nay-sayers, wrap you little minds around this, it is plausible to give birth while taking a crap. "lily" and "uneducated people" stated that if she had given birth before to other children and/or the fact that the baby is 2 months premature that that little 3+ lb baby just slipped on out. Since the mother passed out she would not have felt the placenta (aftebirth) delivering. Just imagine, that baby swinging around and around, dangling, helped pull that placenta out.
And they are from India….they are NOT black.
In regards to the toilets just dumping straight out onto the tracks…. well where do you think airlines dump their load-o-crap?
Personally this baby was meant to be here…..going through all of that as a premie and surviving….miraculous!!

The baby is not attached directly to the mum, it's attached to the placenta, which gets expelled from the mother's belly right after she gives birth. I saw someone give birth a while ago, everything got pushed out real quick at the same time with loads of liquid, I can imagine that it happened in this case too.

I was on a train in India in January. Disgusting! It is a hole in the ground with a platform for each foot. You can see the tracks running below you. No toilet paper. By the way- 1st!

Well, I'll say this…it IS possible for a baby to slip out unexpectedly. Several several years ago my great aunts mother was expecting her like 5th child and it was snowy and icy and she stepped out the backdoor to holler at the other kids or her husband or something, and she slipped and the baby popped right out! But yeah, the umbilical cord thing is a very good question. Unless…..everything else popped out with the baby, she'd be dragging that poor little thing behind her.
