People around La Lopez think she might be taking things a bit too far…except of course, Marc Anthony, who supposedly agrees with everything she wants.

According to inside reports, the couple has hired SIX new bodyguards for the twins. They have two baby bouncers for each eight-hour shift around the clock.
Cost? Approximately $600,000, not including the cost of benefits.
They've also invested in closed-circuit cameras for almost every room in their many homes.
Also, peeps with grubby hands better stay far away from JLo's babies! According to a family source, she's become a germaphobe. There are dispensers of hygienic cleanser strategically placed all around her homes. People are instructed to basically scrub before they come close to her precious ones. And, we kid you not, there was a purchase of what's being called 'a lifetime supply' of surgical masks because anyone coming in contact with the twins must put one of the things on.

I wouldn't really call the security thing crazy at all! I would say her babies are at pretty high risk and totally warrant all the security measures.
As for the germs… I'm sure the whole "life-time supply" thing is a total exaggeration by whomever the source is… but germphobia is NOT uncommon in new Moms. In fact, I think it's pretty COMMON.

Newborns are at an extreme risk for catching infections since their immune system hasn't fully developed yet. When my cousin had her baby she did the same thing with making sure everyone was as germ free as possible. It's just being a good cautious mother, she'll calm down as soon as they get a little older.

its a very very common thing to happen after a woman has a child. Especially with multiples. It is actually a type of 'illness' per say. Its just an over cautiousness and almost freak out for the children, because you worked so hard to keep them safe while they were inside you and when they come out, you cant help everything so you go over board. Keeping them locked up inside, using masks and hand sanitizers and not allowing ppl to touch them etc., will only create illness in them, and not prepare them for the world etc. Hopefully she or someone that she will listen to recognizes this and has someone come to speak with her about it, if not it can get very very serious.

What most of you don't understand is that most doctors will recommend keeping your infant out of public, and away from people (esp during cold and flu season) for at least the first month. Keeping your infant safe should be any parents number one priority.

If J-Lo had a brain, or had she bothered to get a college education, she'd know that our bodies build defenses against foreign invaders by first getting exposed to them! Parents who are germ-o-phobes with their children are doing them a disservice, because they are keeping them from developing a normal immunity. In fact, the best thing she could do is to let her kids go outside to romp and frolick in the mud, grass and puddles.

The number of bodyguards to keep safe is up to her, she can afford it. As far as the anti-bac gel stuff, well, when the babies are that young, then you do have to be careful of germs. Once they're older, it's a different story. I made family scrub as if going into surgery before touching my kids and had anti-bac gel and wipes in every room, car and diaper bag, plus a separate stash at both grandparent's homes. Face masks? Maybe she made someone wear one if they were sick? I doubt she's making everyone who sees them wear masks around them.

I was basically like that too with my first child minus the bodyguards lol. But with my second one now which I just had him a couple of months ago… I'm much more layed back. Kids are going to get sick and the older they get the more germs they are going to have on them. I've excepted that germs are a part of life and that it'll drive you crazy trying to keep everything and everyone germ free. J.Lo you should listen to mothers that have been through it.

LOL a lot of my friends turned paranoid and over-protective when they had their first kid especially if they had miscarriages in the past… they chilled out about a couple of months after giving birth and I'm sure Jennifer will too!
She could end up hurting the kids in the long run, it's healthy for babies to come in contact with some germs so they can build up an immunity.
Since she had twins, they were probably delivered early, which means you DO have to be extra careful to keep them from getting sick until their immune systems are fully developed.

She has twins- I'm not sure how much they weigh, but if they are really tiny their immune system may be even further compromised. I'm sure that's not the case, since she already went home with them. What is she thinking? It's healthy and good for babies to be exposed to different germs. They need to build up their immune system. Her kids will just catch all of these sicknesses later. It's better for them to fight it now. It's not going to kill them.

Babies (especially multiples and premature) have a high risk of getting RSV, and other bacteria and viruses. They can die or have life long problems from these. If a baby has a fever in the first 3 months of being born, they can't take any medication like older children or adults. You have to take them to a pediatric intensive care unit, where they do spinal taps and a bunch of other tests on them. They will have IV's in them, and have to administer Heparin (The very same drug that was used in the Quaid's twins.) in the IV to keep the IV from getting blocked up.
JLo is doing everything correctly. As a mother of two sets of twins I should know.

If the twins are healthy enough to be at home, then the surgical masks are a bit extreme. Good 'ole soap and water are all you need. Is she wearing a surgical mask when she holds them???? She is exposed to other people's germs too. It is stuff like this that makes the superbugs develop.

the immune system is based on memory of the cells to "foreign entities" to which they have been exposed. if she prevents any exposure of these babies, they will have NO immune system and they will likely be sickly children. just wash with non-antibacterial soap and water and skip the gel unless you're on a road trip, and if a person is sick enough to wear a mask, they shouldn't be around newborns anyway.
