Jennifer Lopez is taking the mom thing very, very seriously.
People around La Lopez think she might be taking things a bit too far…except of course, Marc Anthony, who supposedly agrees with everything she wants.
J. Lo is diva about ever-y-thing!
According to inside reports, the couple has hired SIX new bodyguards for the twins. They have two baby bouncers for each eight-hour shift around the clock.
Cost? Approximately $600,000, not including the cost of benefits.
They've also invested in closed-circuit cameras for almost every room in their many homes.
Also, peeps with grubby hands better stay far away from JLo's babies! According to a family source, she's become a germaphobe. There are dispensers of hygienic cleanser strategically placed all around her homes. People are instructed to basically scrub before they come close to her precious ones. And, we kid you not, there was a purchase of what's being called 'a lifetime supply' of surgical masks because anyone coming in contact with the twins must put one of the things on.

Someone should tell JLO that exposure to germs helps strengthen your immune system, and it helps to build resistance to infection. She will KILL her babies this why. The typical cold will turn into pneumonia for these kids. SOME GERMS ARE GOOD PEOPLE. Someone tell her!

Wrong way to go … kids have to develop immunities and they don't do that in a germ free environment. I'm not saying to roll them in shit or anything…LOL … just let them be kids and be normal.
i normally don't comment, but bieng a mother of twins who were born at 36 weeks,( that's a month early for those who can't do the math) and weren't inncubated or kept in the nic u, there are a lot more issues with immunity and germs than with term babies. even now at nine months old if my kidlets catch a common cold they can't breathe for a month. Good on J Lo for making sure her babies are safe and healthy. Unless you are her kids pediatrician, you really have no business commenting on how she deals with their individual and specific health needs.
Whatever. This sounds blown out of proportion. Someone probably noticed her washing her hands and *boom* she's suddenly a germaphobe? So what if she wants to be protective…she was waiting a long time to have kids…probably tried several times before getting it right. She's just using every resource to keep her babies healthy. She may be crazy, but she may not be over reacting about this one. I'm a mother of twins and a nurse. It's not uncommon for doctors to recommend that when multiples are born during flu season they should be kept away from large groups of people, or anyone who may be sick. I've heard MD's go so far as to suggest visitors wash their hands thoroughly and were a mask before handling pre-mature infants. Not only does it protect the newborn from developing RSV, but it also helps protect them from contracting any serios infection that their immune system can't fight.

I dont really like her but to be honest, I just had my second child and my daughter who came to visit in the HOSPITAL where sick children should not be around babies, caught the most terrible virus which lasted 2 weeks and then gave it to my son who he and I were in lockdown in my bedroom so she couldnt give it to us….so yes surgical masks and hand sanitizer around newborns is not crazy…it is SMART…if you ever had a newborn sick, it is the most heartwrenching, frustrating, experience.
Yes she is diva, but I wouldnt take ANY chances around flu season and plus people are sick and dirty and dont always wash their hands, I dont care if you got in your car after you washed your hands and drove to the house, you came in contact with something nasty along the way…
P.S. - oh and yeah, this is what happens when you don't start having kids until you're 50
i am a microbiologist. germaphobia is the most ridiculous craze; we need contact with germs to develop immunity to diseases. jlo is making her babies develop lots of health problems in the future due to their lack of exposure! duuuhhhh

I can see doing this stuff when someone is sick or during flu season, but it really isnt necessary all the time, the thing that new moms dont understand is that babies have to build up immunity by being exposed to germs. If you keep everything totally sanitary all the time they wont build up those immunities and will get sick more often. Marc has kids he should know this!

I think everyone gets a little crazy with their first time at being a parent. She just has the money to really crazy. I use a HUGE germ freak and I was so afraid someone would drop my baby I didn't let a lot of people hold him. Then after a couple of months you get over it.

Good for her, twins are usually a bit premature with low birth weights, they are much more suseptible to bugs and infections..if I had the means to, I would do the same..
Her twins may be susceptible to illnesses, as a lot of twins are a bit weaker when first born. She's lucky they weren't premie and needing to be in the ICU for a month!
She's Jennifer Lopez! She's a first time MOM. If the worst she has done is gotten closed circuit television cameras in what I am sure is house with so many square feet that most cannot in comprehend. And, oh place some hand sanitizer stations around this afore mentioned home. Then good for her. People do some crazy things to get pics of celebs children, perhaps Jennifer is keeping an eye on her precious little ones and if someone is around them in the day and age when people die of some wicked stuff she just wants folks hands to be clean. Uhm, sometimes when babies are born earlier (pre-mature) than the due date, their are certain precautions new parents need to take. I saw an episode on a parent who gave birth to multiples who had to install those hand sanitizing pumps in their house as well. They also couldn't let them out until after a certain amount of weeks because of infections they could get and are not old enough to fight off. Better safe than sorry… However, the body guard thing, totally going overboard!!

I have never been an extreme fanatic when it came to Jennifer Lopez, yet I will not hesitate to agree that by hiring those six body guards-they are ensuring the safety of their children.

Re: Deeb – Yep…very true! What she is doing isn't all that crazy! I had twins three months ago and we use Purell all the time and if anyone is sick we don't let them near the babies! Twins are VERY suseptible to RSV infection…especially this time of the year and especially if they were born prematurely or born with any other respiratory problems which twins often are. So really….she's not THAT crazy…ok, well, maybe a LITTLE crazy!
My son was born at 33 weeks (due to preeclampsia), and wasn't supposed to be exposed to "the world" for quite awhile. However, there's no way I would have required every single person to wear a freaking hospital mask just to see him. Even though preemies are at high risk for infections, namely RSV, I wouldn't go all off the deep end about it. What a crock. Surrounding your kids with security and making everyone act like they're in lockdown. If the docs released them from the NICU, obviously they're not supposed to be treated as if they're still in there. Those poor kids are going to get SO SICK when they venture out into the real world. J. Lo needs to get a clue.

Haha!!! Well she's actually abusing the poor things little does she know it. Without proper exposure to the world they will not build up a healthy immune system and are much more likely to suffer from immune mediated diseases like Asthma.

Her babies are going to be really sick while growing up if she doesn't cut this germ thing out. They won't be able to build up an immunity and once they get sick that won't be able to fight it off as well as if people didn't where masks around them and constantly use hand sanitizer.

I sure hope so, but I SERIOUSLY doubt it. Someone like J. Lo will be very concerned about their top-dollar boobs that they wouldn't want to "ruin" by breastfeeding. Celebs can be so damn selfish, it makes me sick that a majority of them even have kids. Like most of them will ever really know their parents! They'll think the high-paid Nanny is their Mom. Must be really rough for them. They're out too busy rebuilding their too-thin-bods to even worry about their responsibilities. Disgusting. Makes you appreciate the ones that actually DO care, like Jennifer Garner and Gwen Stefani (and some others), who aren't afraid to be seen in public actually BEING parents.
Re: WTF? – NOT NEWBORNS! yes, within the next few months they need to build up their immune - but not right now. RIGHT now they need to be kept from germs - any doctor will tell you to keep newborns out of malls, grocery stores, any place that has alot of people ( look it up) for the first 3 months of life (yes, I'm sure plenty of you didn't pay attention to htat). When my baby was about 6 months , my doc told me that I could let my child roll in the mudd if I wanted to -b/c they need to build up their immune system with some germs. Of course I didn't do that - but I'm just saying that it is normal to be guarded with your newborn. I won't knock her for that and you shouldn't either. Every child is different - we know some of you didn't give a crap about germs and your kids are fine, blah blah blah… but for some that's not the case. She is probably taking her doctors advice, so maybe everyone should back off her a bit. She's not being a germaphobe just to be a b*tch - she's being a good protective mother.
Twins are usually premature. Prematures get respiratory distress frequently. The care is important til they put on some weight, it's ok. Later it will be necessary for the children to be in contact with germs, but for now it is good care…

Sure, I'm sure there are some precautions that need to be followed in her case, with premature twins. But her acting like her kids are something out of the ordinary and so "special" because they're the children of celebs doesn't make idiotic things like requiring masks necessary. I think she's off her rocker when it comes to that extent. Precautions are necessary and good, but if they weren't really ready to come in contact with ANYTHING, they would still be in the NICU.
When you place newborns in a germ free environment, they will not develop a strong immune system. This will hurt the twins more than help them. This should be done only if the twins are unhealthy and a germ could kill them.

RSV is a very serious illness which affects preemies and underweight babies differently than at-term kids (it's basically a common cold gone bad). There is no cure, and thousands of babies die from it every year. The only thing you CAN do is be a germophobe until they're big enough to fight off the disease!
Imagine that this was Teddy, and maybe you'll understand 1/10th of how you would feel if they were your own kids, Perez…

Coming from experience, when you have twins you have to be extra careful not to introduce germs into the babies environment. Antibacterial gel and facemasks are part of the defense especially during flu season. I would be bad enough to have one fragile newborn with a cold/flu– try having two.
