People around La Lopez think she might be taking things a bit too far…except of course, Marc Anthony, who supposedly agrees with everything she wants.

According to inside reports, the couple has hired SIX new bodyguards for the twins. They have two baby bouncers for each eight-hour shift around the clock.
Cost? Approximately $600,000, not including the cost of benefits.
They've also invested in closed-circuit cameras for almost every room in their many homes.
Also, peeps with grubby hands better stay far away from JLo's babies! According to a family source, she's become a germaphobe. There are dispensers of hygienic cleanser strategically placed all around her homes. People are instructed to basically scrub before they come close to her precious ones. And, we kid you not, there was a purchase of what's being called 'a lifetime supply' of surgical masks because anyone coming in contact with the twins must put one of the things on.

I think it's normal to ask people to wash their hands before they touch a newborn. When my daughter was born (in the height of cold and flu season) I asked people to if they wanted to hold her. Masks? No. But, even doctors recommend hand-washing with newborns. They can easily end up in the hospital…babies under two months get spinal taps to test for sepsis if they have fevers over 100.4. Plus, she had twins…they may have been born slightly premature (normal for twins), which puts them at higher risk for illness.
she has tried for a long time for these babies and I think for a while, everyone should just give her a break. These are her first children and first time mothers tend to go overboard-until the 2nd pregnancy. she has the money to do this, so just back off for a while. Now, if we see that everyone has to wear a mask when the kids are 5, then we can call her nuts.

Actually, its a puerto rican thing, well my family. i mean shit i have no mula for the bguards n all but the hand sanitizer and the masks is legit with me. I agree with her about the sanitation thing… I just had twins and they were over a month early as hers probably were, as per their weight at birth. Everything you read says wash, wash, wash the hands before handling a preemie!

I commend her. She will be critizised by those whoe don't know any better, but unless you have been there & realize how precaroius the health of new born twins are, you have NO room to talk. The children's immune systems will have plenty of time to develop. Even immunizations are given on a schedule. When they are this young, it's all about weight. An early sickness can be devestating (particulary if her little ones's lungs are underdeveloped) - prematurely born babies need extra precaution - the risk of damage from this type of infection far outweighs any potential benefit from an exposure.

Were the twins early? The hand-washing is very typical of any newborn, and the masks can be requested especially for premies because their lungs are not fully developed. Otherwise, believe me, babies are sturdy little things and people fret waaay too much (if only I had known that with my first and only child … ah, well, good info to pass along!) =)

When I had a premature baby, the doctors and nurses TOLD me to have everyone use Purell before touching him and to use a mask if they had a cold. It's winter time/flu season here in NY and it's wise not to expose a newborn to these germs so early on. However….two baby bounchers???? THAT sounds AWESOME!!!! I wish I had someone to take over for me in that area. I think I wore out the carpets in my house bouncing my kids around for so many hours.

Ok - so they said this morning (3-1-08) on the Today Show, that Jen & Marc have named the twins Max & Emmie. Has anyone ever heard of the PBS show Dragon Tales? The brother & sister who play with dragons in "Dragon Land" are named Max & Emmie and they speak spanish and english.
You know, I was kinda that way with my first child! (Except we could not afford bodyguards or crates of gloves and masks) but I can relate to what she is feeling. I used to have our visitors scrub their hands to their elbows (like the doctors did) before they held my baby. Those babies are just so tiny and you love them so much and you worry about ALL the things that COULD happen and you want to protect them. She's just a normal first-time mom (with GOBS of money). If she has more children, I'm sure she will be more 'relaxed' the next time around.

I don't think that's weird. I did all of those things when my children were born,(with the exception of the bodyguards) An instinct kicks in to protect the tiny human life that you are responsible for.

That being said, having a sick newborn is very difficult and considering the many viruses going around these days and the flu epidemic that is nationwide, any smart mom would ask people to either keep their hands off their newborn or to at least scrub down before.

she's actually setting her kids up for future health problems. if a baby's immune system isn't exposed to germs and bacteria, it can't develop properly. the immune system, even of a newborn, is programmed to attack and if there's nothing to attack, it turns on itself. this leads to food/drug/environmental allergies and possibly contributes to the onset of asthma. and if she follows this path and pumps superfluous medicine into her kids every time they so much as sneeze, they're going to develop tolerances and allergies, meaning when they actually need medicine, they might not be able to take it or it might not be effective. jenny needs to remember that God made dirt and dirt don't hurt!

Well, the bodyguards may be a little extreme but I can't blame her about wanting clean people around the babies. This is flu season and nothing would be worse than those babies catching it. Everyone should be clean when around a newborn and should never get in their face. Askin this of people is not over the top at all. Myself and my friends were the same way with our newborns.
Perhaps she could give that money away to those who could use it (kids die in every minute inAfrica) and try to raise her babies as normal as possible. Unless she is the next Michael Jackson.
